  1. If we're talking about a "shelved" or a "lost episode" then I wanna put it out that I think that's what "Tanks for the memories" was. It just feels like such a season two episode. Especially Dashes character. It's like Cindy M. wrote that back when season two was in preproduction, and it just didn't fit in the season, or was rejected for the subjuct matter. ( the five stages of grieving not fitting the theme of that season, early on in the series) so, rejected, maybe reworked, and approved later.

  2. Woah, woah! This thread is for the serious discussion of wether or nor Spike is a dragon. Not the ridiculous notion of Spike being a pet. Spike dose'nt eat out of a bowl on the floor. Twilight does not pour a bag of dragon (...or whatever he is) chow into a bowl and say "here Spiky Spikey" no, he sits at the table with her, orders food off the menu or walks across the table and eats pancakes. He makes nachos when Twilight has guests. Can your pet do that? How about cake? Pets don't bake cake. And neither do dragons!

  3. Yes he is a Dragon but nothing like the wild and uncivilized ones we have seen from the episode about the 'Great Dragon Migration'. However soon he's going to grow up into a big and str
In season 2 episode 10 it is shown that the more a dragons greed grows then the more the dragon it's self grows and also when he was fully grown-up he did not have wings, witch leads me to believe that like ponys they have different species of dragons and there is such a thing as earth dragons and if so then spike would most likely be an earth dragon, therefore he would not have any wings

I like both of theses thermos. The feral dragons vs. pony raised dragons. And the whole "earth dragon" thing.

So do "earth dragons" or feral dragons have the ability to teleport mail scrolls, like Spike can or is that a unique ability that Princess Celistia that she choose to steal a specific "dragonesque" species egg to steal for testing her potential students magic abilities? Because the mailbox thing also seems to be a thing that keeps Spike from being a dragon in the canon of what we know about dragons.

  4. Sorry, I don't know how to do that quotes thing.

Soo anyhow. When he grew up too fast in "secret of my excess" still no wings. (And also looked diffrent than when he grew up way too fastin Twi's flashback in " cutie mark chronicals. What's up with that? Lol) I don't read the comics, so I am only basing my knowledge of dragons on what i've seen on the show. The current G4 version of the show. Totally " a diffrent kind of dragon". Like so diffrent that he's not like any other dragon we've ever seen in the show! Like i said, some species related to, and sharing some traits with dragons. Ms. Harshwhinny clearly calls him "Mister The Dragon" more than once. (Damn, now I'm going to have to see if that's what it says on his "dragon code" card in "Spike at your service" ) i totally love that part " Mr. The Dragon. I am giving you the signal now!" Poor little Spiky Wikey.

The dragon in "dragonshy" was totally hibernating. Where in "winter wrap up does it contradict that dragons don't hibernat?

  5. I'm going to have to go with Twilight on this one for the reasons the OP stated. Wealthy parents ( at least upper middle class). However she didn't have any friends. So how happy was her foalhood?

My first thought was going to be Rainbow Dash. But I figured that was just my biasis as an only child myself (my headcanon is that pegasi are all only foals, and many are orphans due to reasons i'm not going into here) anyhow, i've always been pretty happy as an only child. I didn't HAVE to share my stuff unless i wanted too. Even if her family wasn't wealthy, her father made sure she had the oppertunity to have life enriching experiences, like going to flight camp and getting to carry the flag for Cloudsdale at the Equestria games. She had friends and at least knew about friendship. Yeah, i'd say Dashie had a pretty sweet foalhood.

  6. Well we know from "Equestria Games" that his last name is "The Dragon" but is he actully a dragon? In "Tanks for the memories" when Rainbow Dash is seeking advice about reptiles from Spike she asks him about hibernation, and he says "I'm a dragon and i don't hibernate". However, we know from "Dragonshy" that dragons do infact hibernate (apparently foe hundreds of years) . Yes, Spike does really like to sleep alot, but he dosen't hibernate, which we know dragons do.

Second. Spike dosen't have wings. As seen in the afore mentioned episode "Dragonshy" and later in "Dragon Quest" ( which as far as i can remember are the only two episodes that we see dragons in. Though I could be wrong) every dragon we have ever seen in the show has wings. Except Spike.

So, what do you think? Is Spike actully a dragon, or some other type of related species that shares some traits with real dragons ( like scales, and breathing fire, and being lava proof) that just happens to have the last name "The Dragon"?

  7. I think the the responsability falls squarely on Fluttershy's shoulders.she should have given Dash at least some basic care instructions. Especially with a reptile. Reptiles requie some very specific care instructions like calcium supplements to their diet, and proper UV exposure. Oh yeah, and the fact that they bruminate. When you buy a pet ( especially an exotic or a reptile) a responsible pet vendor should make sure you know how to care for it..

Also, why was Spike the first choice to go to as a reptile expert? You know Gummy is a reptile too, right? Pinkie would have been a good source of information about reptiles as pets.

  8. I think not just magic, but spacificaly Rainbow Dash's pegasus magic. I noticed in "Tanks for the memories," that she used her hoof to spim the propeller, and then it kept spinning and you could see the magic glow. I feel like Dash controls the speed to match her own speed and, like others have said, he controls direction by shifting his weight. I imagine it's not to be taken

lightly for a pegasus to share their flight magic. That's why Dash and Tank have such a tight bond. So, by my theroy, Tank can't even fly unless Dash starts his device and is within a certian proximity. I wonder how close she has to be for it to work?

  9. ^^^this. And in Secret of my excess, when Twilight takes Spike to the Doctor. There's an x-ray of a hoof and leg on the wall in the background. ( sorry I don't know how to post a picture of this, or get one)

  10. It airs on the discovery family channel because Hasbro is a partner with Discovery Networks. It used to be fifty-fifty when it was Hub. When Hasbro gave up part of their ownership they changed the name. So yeah, probably not going to be on another network At least not until discovery family folds

  11. I'm going to address this in two parts. First will try to explain Pinkie Pies element, the second how her ( and all the elements ) play their part in relation to each other.

    1. In one episode Princess Celestia was addressing the mane six, and how they had shown proficiency in their respective element during their adventure. ( it was at the end of the episode) she said "each of you have shown me how much you represent ( or grown, I don't remember exactly) each of your elements" she then went on to use a synonym for each element. Like "integrity" for AJ and "gentle spirit" for Fluttershy. Anyway, when she got to Pinky she said "enthusiasm". Until then I had always wondered about laughter as an element. But when Princess Celistia refered to it as enthusiasm, I got it. She is enthusiastic about everything. She makes their adventures fun. She always has a song or a joke, or cake, or balloons, even if that song or joke falls flat (or comes across as just comic relief) to us, the other ponies seem to enjoy it. And if they don't she will keep trying. It sometimes seems like the more she fails the harder she tries, which more often than not, results in people (and ponies) becoming annoyed with her.so, yeah, try to think of "laughter" as also being "enthusiasm.

    2. I've always seen the elements (and the ponies) as kind of a metaphor. Like if you know someone that has loyalty, kindness, honesty, generosity, and they make you laugh (and if you possess those qualities yourself) then that friendship is magic. So, you can have a loyal, kind, generous,, honest friend, but If they don't make you laugh, or If they aren't fun. That person likely won't be your best friend (...and therefore not magic). It's that best friend magic that weaponizes rainbows. Like the song at the end of Twighlights Kingdom says. Hope that helps.
