  1. I'm going to try to end this argument. When I first posted in this thread, I meant to say that I just wasn't into the show anymore so I left the fanbase because of that, but the fact that I mentioned how annoying I find the memes to be in between the two statements made it come across as if I thought the memes made the show unenjoyable, or something to that effect. I was just agreeing with the OP. Then you replied to me, which started this argument. I said that I was leaving the fanbase because of people like you because I was pissed at this argument. I was actually just leaving the fanbase because I'm not into the show anymore (but I misworded it, as I said). I don't really know why you said ''we don't argue with you for leaving the show, we argue with you for arguing with us'' because I was only agreeing with the OP, and we were the only two people here arguing. I apologize if I came across as if I was stating my opinions as a fact, that was not my intention at all. You think the show is great and that it isn't overrated, that's your opinion and you have a right to it. I think the show is pretty average and that it isn't anything special, that's my opinion. And I do know that it isn't the creator's fault the show is enjoyable by wide audiences, but that still applies to a good number of cartoons, and I just happened to not see what's so special about this show (I'm starting to repeat myself now). So in the end, we all have a right to be into a show or not be into it anymore. I hope this is finally ending our argument.
  2. *sigh* For the first one, I meant to say that if the show hadn't become so popular on the Internet, it would just be a show you wouldn't give a second look at if you were just changing the channels, unless your daughter or little sister wants to watch it. And for the second, I meant that with the rising popularity of the show, more intrusive Bronies are occasionnally invading places that have barely to do with it, if at all. But even the shows that have their own page for memes on TV Tropes don't have nearly as many examples as FiM. See, this is why I'm leaving the fanbase. You guys are just way too defensive about this show, to the point that when someone isn't into the show anymore, people like you keep arguing with them and trying to contradict them. Over a cartoon about ponies originally intended for selling toys for little girls, no less! I know that Lauren Faust's original intention was to create a show for little girls to enjoy, but also their parents, by throwing in a few references to things kids wouldn't understand, but you're just taking this way too far.
  3. 1) A lot of shows have those combinations, make references to other things and have plot elements that only work when used together. 2) I see. 3) I never said memes were the only key factor to the success of the show or made it lame, and I'm not trying to undermine the show's success by saying it's an overused meme, but if you think about it, if most of the lines from the show that became memes had been said in any other children's cartoon instead, they wouldn't have become memes. It just seems like the memes from this show are memes just because they're in this show. I only said the haters have a reason to say it's an overused meme because there's so many of them. Just take a look at this: http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Memes/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagic . The fanbase has a tendency to turn anything into a meme, from throwaway lines to fan-made works, to the point where you'd think Fluttershy is obsessed with becoming a tree, for example.
  4. I was comparing it to literally any slice-of-life children's cartoon. The episode premises, the punchlines and the character's personalities have already done countless of times before in cartoons and live-action alike. I don't have a problem with that because it's really difficult to come up with something original (which I guess I should have said in my first post here) but I really don't get why people are saying how original it is. I don't really see what you mean by that, please elaborate. I think that would be extremely out-of-place in any cartoon, even the ones that are like Phineas and Ferb that make really obscure references and jokes that even adults wouldn't get. I really don't see why you seem angry in your post. I just started looking at this show with utter apathy because I don't see what the big deal about it is.
  5. I agree with this thread. I recently started rewatching the show over from the beginning and it just hit me how painfully average and cliched this show is. It's really jarring because this show would be unnoticeable if it weren't for all the memes. In fact, I'm starting to agree with the haters on this one that the Bronies are overpropagating an overused meme, because some of the more intrusive Bronies have a habit of invading places that have barely anything to do with ponies. I actually left the fanbase because of this.
  6. I guess people hate Bronies because whenever FiM or a fan comic of it references something, most of the time, there will be someone commenting on a Youtube video of whatever it is that was referenced, ''Ponies brought me here'', and to be honest, it gets annoying if I'm trying to get away from the fanbase for a while. In fact, I'm becoming less and less fascinated with ponies because of this.
  7. When I first heard of this phenomenon from PlayingWithMahWii and looked up the term Brony, I was intrigued by the fact that guys in their 20's would love a show for little girls (especially with the toy commercials http://mlpforums.com/public/style_emoticons/default/dry.png ), so I immediately watched it. Now it's one of my favorite current cartoons.
  8. I'd be an Earth pony, maybe. My fur would be brown, my mane would be black and my eyes would be hazel. I can't think of a better name, so it would be Windy Hooves. My special talent would be playing video games, so my cutie mark would of course be a video game console. I'd live in Ponyville. I'd have a dog as a pet, 'cause dogs are awesome. And my best friends would be hopefully the mane six.
  9. You may have seen the Pinkazoid intro BronyMike made last year. In January, I decided to do my own take on the intro, with more similar lyrics to the actual Freakazoid theme song, so I decided to post the link here to see what people think. http://64superninten...azoid-278410987
  10. I live in Montreal, but one of my friends lives in Oregon. I'll see if he's interested.
  11. Well, when I first watched the pilot in mid July, I stopped watching for a few days for some reason, and when I came back from watchng Captain America: The First Avenger, I read about Cupcakes in the High Octane Nightmare Fuel page from TV Tropes, and since I was curious, I decided to read it. It was gross. Then I found out about Sweet Apple Massacre and I held myself from reading it until late December. It was also gross. Other than that, everything else was fine.
  12. My friends know I'm a Brony and I converted a couple of them, but otherwise I don't talk about it except with the two I converted and with online friends.
  13. True, but I've only ever used PCs so I can't really attest to that. TPAM likes reading books.
  14. First off, I'd ask Twilight to turn me into a pony, then ask her to introduce me to her friends, then I'd chill with them and help them out at their respective jobs.
  15. And apparently I revived this thread yet again. I would probably go with Rarity because I love her and to solve any tension between her and Prince Blueblood (if they have't already done so).
  16. My name is William, I'm 14 years old and I started watching this cartoon when PlayingWithMahWii announced he became a Brony in July. My favorite website is TV Tropes, my favorite pony is Rarity (because I think she's pretty ), my favorite background pony is Derpy and my favorite minor character is Daring Do. I'm also a big fan of Steven Spielberg's cartoons for Warner Bros., Cartoon Network classics and Phineas and Ferb. So I hope I'm welcome here, and I'll try to not do something stupid.
