  1. @@Melke If you're using portal based teleportation, they would have to be free of the web to move into the portal to go through it. Sending someone through a portal that is covered in web shouldn't end up removing the web. Teleportation magic like Twilight's should be able to teleport somepony out of the webbing however, so it really depends on what type of teleportation magic she uses. (I would consider Twilight's teleportation style to be "blink" while the gates you describe would be "portals") I would guess that Syo's short distance teleportation is considered "blink" style teleportation, but only applies to herself, right? @ everyone I believe the permit should allow for three trees. I've done some math and 2,000 bits per tree works out to reasonable shares when taking the original deal into account (they were going to be dividing one tree between what Seamore thought would be six ponies after Stargazer left but before Vivid left, which would be about 317 bits each, which stays true to what Seamore said about the deal being lucrative, while not bringing it to ridiculously high values).
  2. @ everypony Seamore gets up again and starts heading toward his cart. "To answer the question about killing it, it's an invasive species and it's hunting the local wildlife. It's a disruption to the ecosystem and where it came from is unknown. What we know about it comes from first hoof accounts, as it has been attacking anypony who goes into that area. The first step in this sort of situation is for the locals to deal with the problem, then if they can't handle it, the government gets involved." At the cart Seamore takes the rolled up permit out of his saddlebag, he walks back over to Last giving her the permit to examine. "Here's that permit if you wanted to look it over." "My name is Seamore by the way," he said to the two new guests. "And this is Dusk, Last Stand, Excaliber, and Crescent,"pointing at each pony as he said each of their names, although he got Caliber's name wrong. "If either of you would like to have a S'more or an apple cider, you're welcome to," he offered. Then looking at Briar he says, "I believe I've met one of your kind before. Would you happen to be an Evergrown?"
  3. What I meant by everyone is just anyone who gets hit by the venom. The spider will be quite agile for its size, seeing how it has eight legs, but it won't be lightning fast. Between the diamond plating, chaos magis venom, eight legged agility, regenerative webbing, and the ability to see in several directions at once make it a formidable foe for any size party. Keep in mind that it is not completely covered in diamond though, and it may be too large to fit between some trees. I also welcome the idea of cutting off one or more of its legs during combat, it has eight, it can spare a few.
  4. @@Blitz Boom The chaos based venom has random effects on its victims, including temporary blindness or weightlessness, even species change is possible. The effects are always temporary and are usually, but not necessarily always, negative. Also, I haven't mentioned it yet but the Diamond Spider spits its venom at its prey, and I am debating wether or not it will be immune to its own venom. It would make sense, but since it's chaos magic, anything is possible. As far as combat, I'm thinking it might be more fun if everyone chose their own reaction to the venom, it'll be more chaotic that way as everyone can come up with their most ridiculous idea for it. I thought you were talking about the Everwood tree. The pine tree is to be sold as a log, cutting it up smaller may cause a problem for the buyer since red pine is commonly used for utility poles and construction. I chose red pine for a reason, I'm doing all my research for authenticity. Again, I'm probably overthinking things. I would like a demonstration though, if you want your character to make the mistake of trying to help by cutting it up, it's fine, Seamore will just have to cut down another tree. He'll use the cut up tree as firewood in the future. If you want to write this in with a "No, Don't!" from Seamore, go right ahead, he'll understand that she's just trying to help. By the way, bonus points to Blitz for getting the reference. She is proud of her new tongue and shows it off often. As a bonus, it sort of explains how she managed to be split into two versions of herself in one of the videos. P.S. The spider has chaos based magic throughout it, the only place it seems to present itself is in the venom. This is why a knowledge of chaos based magic is necessary to use the webbing properly.
  5. For any of you who can't tell, I'm completely insane! I don't believe in sanity, for it an imagined concept derived from lunacy.

  6. Watching PMVs and fan animations on YouTube. There's some great stuff out there.

  7. @@Melke Teleportation magic can be very useful in a fight, teleport out of the way of an attack, teleport something into the air then catch it with another portal sending it horizontal using the momentum from its own gravity, block projectiles with portals sending them back... I'm sure you can come up with something if you want your character to fight. If you don't want Syo to fight, that's fine too, Seamore's probably not going to fight much either. He may have to dodge an attack or two, maybe hit back, but throughout most of the fight he will be cutting down the tree. As long as Syo does something to help out, she can earn herself a cut of the profit, if that interests her. @ everyone Did anyone notice the YouTuber reference? Anyone know who it is? Lol
  8. @@Melke Dusk is at the fire, but Fire Lily plans on writing her out. Other than that Seamore's guests are Last Stand, Caliber, Crescent, and Vivid. Briar and the Priestess (who I must find information about) are also on their way. The plan was for Briar to overhear the description of the spider and join in after. @@Blitz Boom If you want Blitz to be the one that knows about the Everwood leaves, that's fine. It would make more sense and Seamore can't know everything. That use for the leaves wouldn't be known by many. We can have them meet at any point in the story, before or after the battle, or even during the battle if you wanted. I never knew roleplays could be this much fun! My planned response to Syo would start with "it's an invasive species, and it's hunting the local wildlife..." So if you want to write in part of that and have Briar interrupt him that's okay, Seamore would stop to let him talk first as he is often interrupted. Or maybe they start talking at the same time. I may be putting too much thought into character development...
  9. @@Blitz Boom Seamore will be working on cutting down the tree while the others fight. The tree must be cut down using a saw, not a sword, because the wood is too hard and it is full of magic. If you want her to try, that's fine but because of the magical properties the sword may get stuck, or there may be a negative reaction like when Apple Bloom tries to buck the ZappApple Trees. As far as manageability goes, Seamore's just going to hook the log and drag it with a rope the same way mules would be used in transporting logs through a forest (Dirty Jobs with Mike Rowe season 2 episode 39 if you want to see how it's done). He is an Earth pony so this would be his chance to show his Earth Pony strength. I have ideas for the fight, but it could be an "anything goes" sort of combat because the Diamond Spider has chaos based magic in its venom. As far as the thing Blitz would want out of this, the rainbow colored leaves of the Everwood tree are an ingredient that, when dried and mixed with the proper ingredients, can be used in flameless explosives, including but not limited to Doctor Whoves' flameless fireworks. That could come later though, as the tree (or trees) is being brought back with the group. @ everyone The wood would have to be sold a bit later as a buyer would have to be lined up so the group is likely to split up before it is sold. To allow this another character should probably have him create a magical pact to keep him true to his word. Although he is trustworthy, the others can't know that for sure. I would still like it if somepony would ask to see the permit though, as Seamore would be likely to miss the fact that he has permission to cut down more that one tree. That detail is mostly for character development.
  10. @ everyone "Yes," Seamore said having forgotten that this is what he was talking about before he had begun to sing. "As I was telling these other ponies before you arrived, I have a permit to cut down one Everwood tree. These trees are highly valued and receiving one of these permits is incredibly rare. However, a giant Diamond Spider, about three or four times as tall as me, has moved into the section of forest they grow in," he said, his estimation being in an unsure tone as Seamore was never good at estimating. "The spider has Dimonds growing out of its skin, venom imbued with chaos based magic, and webbing with regenerative properties. In fact, a certain pink pony I know had an accident, she was hit in the jaw while she had her tongue out. Needless to say she lost a good portion of her tongue. Anyway, a unicorn tried to help her grow back her tongue using Diamond Spider Silk. It worked, but because she wasn't well versed in chaos based magics there were side effects, her coat grew uncontrollably and she now looks like a giant ball of cotton candy. She's since tried cutting it but it just grows right back." Seamore then realized he had gone off on a tangent as he usually does, so he concluded, "My point is the Diamond spider is worth something too, if you can kill it. However, the webbing may be hard to sell because you would have to find a buyer with an interest in chaos magic."
  11. @@Blitz Boom I like how your characters seemed to think it was a bit of that Seamore started singing. In the first episode, when Pinkie Pie started singing "Giggle at the Ghosties" Twilight had a similar attitude, but such a thing hasn't been seen since, unless you count Cranky Doodle Donkey, who I think was simply bothered by her attempts to befriend him. As far as the situation at the campfire, I don't like seeing Dusk go but it's understandable, with so many people posting so often the story progresses too quickly, it's hard to know when you need to post something. I think I've probably been posting a little too often myself to try to keep up. I think making small lists of details that haven't been worked out and waiting until most of them have may be the best way to limit myself to allow the story to progress at a much more acceptable pace. I will be using this as a guide for myself, I tend to forget things so I can use the reminder sometimes. I figured I'd put it here in case anyone else wanted to check the list as well. Not done: Vivid and Crescent don't know Last Stand or Dusk's names Nopony knows Vivid's name Vivid and Crescent don't know about the Everwood tree or the Diamond-Spider The details about the Diamond-Spider have not been revealed Seamore hasn't put the log he cut down into his cart Done: Crescent's name has been mentioned in front of everypony Everypony knows Seamore is planning a mission Crescent has washed up Stargazer left Seamore introduced himself
  12. It's not how long you live that's relevant, it's how much you live.

  13. Yay! Thunderstorms! I love Thunderstorms!!! To bad I have to go to sleep, I wish I could stay up and watch it, because t it's after 1am.

  14. @@Blitz Boom By the way, in the story i did mention that there was a variety of chocolates and types of graham crackers. Basically, design your own s'more, any chocolate, any graham crackers, and any marshmallow wouldn't be too much of a stretch. Imagine apple flavored graham crackers with a caramel filled dark chocolate like in the song... Damnit I'm making myself hungry again! @@Fire Lily I don't think it's time zones as much as its everyone's schedules. It's after midnight here but I'm posting not too long after I get home from work, which does happen to line up with when others are posting sometimes.(I work late often) @ everyone I'm going to need somepony to ask Seamore about the spider, as he will have forgotten where he left off due to the distraction. This will then hopefully flow into Briar's intro.
  15. @@Fire Lily Do you want me to write that she was gone before Seamore could get back or do you want to write her out yourself? Either way is fine. And I understand, keeping up with two different characters would be too much for me, especially having so many people responding to both. You do what works best for you.
  16. I'm sorry, we may have over complicated this large party thing, but please don't give up. You have what appears to be a very well thought out character and can bring a great deal of emotion to the story with her. As the story is, my Character got distracted from the conversation, went to see what was going on, and came right back. There may have been a lot of text in between but only a couple minutes would have passed since the interruption. If you consider each group to have its own timeline until the groups meet, and don't consider everything to be in chronological order, it might be easier to understand. Each chain of events is its own separate story until they converge into one.
  17. @@Fire Lily I said not until Briar was at the fire, but plans have changed. Thank you for not asking it early, I know you wanted to have your character ask when I mentioned it, but certain events had to come together first. The event with the vendor was sort of an 'interruption' to the conversation our characters were having, so you would basically be continuing the conversation where it was left off.
  18. @ everyone I'm sorry everypony, I wrote this song before and couldn't resist this perfect setup. @@Fire Lily I left it open for Dusk to ask for information about the spider.
  19. @ Everypony As has become the norm in Ponyville, partially due to Pinkie Pie, Seamore, in response to Crescent's question, breaks out into song, "My name is Seamore and you'll see I've got the perfect recipes! Cracker, Chocolate, Mallow, S'more! Try one and you'll be wanting more! Apple graham and caramel, It makes a s'more that tastes so swell, But chocolate filled with peanut butter Will make a s'more that's like no other, Add a little cinnamon, Then put a hot marshmallow in, Let it melt then take a bite, And fill your mouth with pure delight! Cook it even all around, Turn it 'till it's golden brown, And when you put the cracker down You won't remember how to frown! Cracker, Chocolate, Mallow, S'more! Try one and you'll be wanting more! Ooey gooey and so crunchy, S'mores are just the perfect munchie, Sit your friends around a fire Make the s'mores they most desire, This is how I like to live, 'Cause the perfect S'more's my gift to give!" Afterward he points to his cart and says, "You'll find a keg on the other side full of water and a bucket in the box next to it, friend." Then he moves over to the bench, sits down and gestures for the others to join him.
  20. @@Fire Lily Don't worry too much about "catching up," not much time has actually passed in the roleplay since the last time she spoke. All that's really happening is a bunch of ponies are showing up, and Seamore was talking about the mission. All the other stuff is what was happening at the same time, events are just converging into one location and the transition has been a little lengthy.
  21. @@Blitz Boom I will keep that in mind, from Seamore's perspective he will not actually see the Snaproot's master but he will be there. I'm thinking about doing this as a flashback when Seamore sees Briar, recognizing him as one of the Evergrown, maybe not as a Snaproot though. @@Fire Lily Dusk doesn't need to be written out, she's just sitting by a fire so she doesn't have to do all that much right now. If you want to write her out to make it easier on you, that's up to you. I think you've been doing fine keeping up though, there's just a lot going on to bring the party together.
  22. @@Fire Lily If Blitz agrees to my suggested intro for Briar you can have Dusk ask about the spider after Seamore sits back down. @@Melke I don't know where your character is going, I haven't mentioned any farms in my part of the story. The campfire is in the Everfree Forest. I'm going to need to know if you are planning on having Syo join the group at the campfire or somewhere on their travels.
  23. @@Melke Join ASAP if you want her to hear the info about the spider, Briar is on his way and after he gets there my character will explain. Also, I could see your character might care about saving the local wildlife, so I will have Seamore talk about the impact this Diamond-Spider has. @@Blitz Boom I would like to continue on describing the spider, if you're okay with writing briar in as having overheard it when he arrives. It's important that he hears what Seamore knows about the spider. I will wait for a response before writing that in though, in case you want him to arrive beforehand.
  24. @@Blitz Boom @@cwhip9 Seamore realized that Crescent was not a member of the Guard due to the fact that Stargazer used his name without a rank, and the bit about pressing charges as the Royal Guard had authority to do such things. "Well, we have stuff for s'mores and plenty of cider if you'd like to join us. The more the merrier. I was just telling them about a dangerous mission I have in mind for later, too." They looked like the type who might like a good fight and he knew there was enough profit to be made from the Everwood logs to go around. With more ponies involved they would be more likely to be able to kill the spider, which would mean he wouldn't have to worry about it the next time he went to harvest the Everwood.
