I cannot call a game fast if I have to constantly:

1. Abuse the hyper dash every three seconds.

2. Abuse emulator speed-up.

3. Abuse the hell out of the turbo buttons.

Have you even played Generations? It's more of an actual game.

Unleashed abused the crap out of the boost button, but Colors and Generations were a bit more responsible when it comes to that stuff.

And... emulator? Are you playing emulated games?

Well THAT explains why you're having slowdown. XD

well, originally, Sonic the Hedgehog was faster than most games around it when it came out, due to the Megadrive's powerful processing power. its flagship game was to utilize said processing power. nowadays, however, the sonic games are a bit slow and clunky controlled, yes, but the newer games has put more emphasis on the speed part again.
