I'm feeling a bit 'meh' right now, so to pick up my spirits some I'm gonna be a bit spoiler-y! I few months back I finished up a 3d model of our favorite 4th wall destroyer - Pinkie Pie. After much ado.. she's finally a 3d print! I'm still working out the details, so I can't sell anything just yet, but here's the current display picture!

I'd have to say #5 just barely edges out #1 in terms of composition, it's more dynamic and has a comfortable space between the character and the edges of the canvas. Both have great color palettes and are rendered really well within their own styles, but I think #5 has a lot of potential to grow. If the artist ever decided to, he/she could do a detail pass on this and really turn it into a gem. -
Hm. Model wasn't as well recieved as I had hoped. Being unknown is tough!

Hey thanks! I'd certainly love to try. I think I'd have to paint on the eyelashes instead of sculpt them though. Little tweaks here and there!

Some of you might have seen my test render of this... but then I spent a FULL DAY buried in tutorials and help files on lighting, and this was the result! I wonder if Shapeways would still take a pony 3d model even though Super Fan Art is gone... This is my first ever finished 3d model, and a big learning exercise in ZBrush. I'd love to hear opinions!

Ok everypony, this is my first test render of the 3d model I hinted at a few days ago... but I'm still trying to work my brain around Zbrush's lighting and rendering tools, not to mention compositing them all in photoshop afterward! If any of you guys have advice on how to do...er...ANY of that, please chime in! Also... trying to figure out a good way to give it a white background, or something similar. Black just isn't cheerful enough for Ponk!

So... as it turns out, Shapeways killed the 'Super Fan Art' thing like.. 10 days ago. I'm pretty sure this means no 3d print for me. That said.. maybe I'll just go ham and make it a nice stand-alone 3d model?

I really don't draw that much pony, but I've been having fun with it... so who knows. Let me know what you think!

Hmm.. I don't think it's on mobile, but I could be wrong. It's very similar to z-brush, so you get the most out of it when you're using a tablet.

Not bad at all! You should give sculptris a try sometime. Another free tool, but by the authors of ZBrush!

Hmm... sure. Here's the version of Modo I use: http://store.steampowered.com/sub/55095/ And Zbrush is... well.. prohibitively expensive to get a legit license for. It's not as good, but try practicing with sculptris: http://pixologic.com/sculptris/ The basics in Sculptris are identical to Z-Brush, since they made both programs.

A combo of MODO for the base pony body, and Zbrush to make everything pretty. I'm a noob, so it's been a bit of an adventure.

Sooo, I've been working on this for a little bit, and she's juuust about ready for posing, painting, all that fun stuff. I've been thinking about uploading to shapeways to be a 3d print there! What do you guys think?

How you became a fan of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic: CONSTANT OPPRESSIVE FANART EVERYWHERE. Hello all! Most of you probably have no idea who I am, but I'm in quite a few places! My free time has been a bit cramped of late, but I did some design work (and some limited 3d modeling) for Legends of Equestria, and I have a few lines in an episode or two of a certain 'post apocalyptic' radio play. Also other stuff. But that stuff is secret stuff AND YOU MUST NOT KNOW. At least until it's done anyway. Aaaanywhooves, I'm looking forward to lurking. And possibly throwing out some terrible, terrible advice. You have all been warned!
