    Are prisons meant to rehabilitate or to provide revenge? A very serious question. Not some political joke.

      i think its more rehabilitative. since rehabilitation involves making the other person see their wrong and teach them a lesson (non revenge way) prison is sort of that. its basically to teach them a lesson. however, as you know, rehabilitation doesnt always work.
