  1. I also feel that Frozen is to Western animated films as MLP:FIM is to Western animated shows.
  2. I prefer using the term "alicorn" because it's shorter, and (at least in the case of Celestia and Luna) they also have traits of Earth ponies and not just unicorns and pegasi. Using the term "unicorn-pegasus" or something similar would only imply a simple fusion of the pony species instead of also being another species entirely, then again a fusion is what Cadance and Twilight seem to be since Twilight is a unicorn with wings, and Cadance is a pegasus with a horn (according to the novel I've never read). Alicorn magic is not just more powerful than the average unicorns but also more powerful than a team of unicorns, for example. The exploration of the alicorn lore is one of the show's bigger missed opportunities since there's definitely at least a few differences between Celestia and Luna's alicorn status and that of Cadance and Twilight, but the not all the important differences are told.

    movies/tv Favourite Movies?

Off the top of my head... Batman: Mask of the Phantasm Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker
  4. This. Since she's apparently "too powerful" at times, she has to get tossed out for the sake of plot.
  5. I'm pretty sure the writers can take almost any nasty comments since that seems to be part of the job, and as far as they're concerned, those people are just random people on the Internet. They can't make everyone happy, and some people will react worse than others. That being said, I feel that insulting any one of them as a person is wrong since that has nothing to do with why an episode might be bad.
  6. To quote myself from another thread, I think her importance in the overall show has been highlighted by the latest episode.
  7. Green Lantern: The Animated Series - Great characters and stories, and the romance is very well done. Too bad it only lasted one season because this was cleaning up the stains the live-action movie made. Legion of Superheroes - I generally love most DC cartoons, but this one doesn't seem to exist to anyone. I've only just started watching it, and it's a another hit. The first season may not be for everyone since has a lighter tone (I liked it though), but I'd say the second season is worth checking out.
  8. That's the only places she's ever been in. The CMC aren't main characters either, but they are still given something to do.
  9. I like Celestia, but the people working on the show don't seem to. If they wanted to actually do something important and meaningful with her, they would've done it already.
  10. Princess Luna and Sunset Shimmer (not part of the show, though) are good but not great characters.
  11. Dragonball Z: I don't hate it, but I don't like it nearly as much as my younger self did. It's too slow such with the overlong fights being a good contribution, and I like the action genre. Other highlights include the infamous "5 minutes until Namek explodes" line of episodes and one whole episode devoted to Goku going to SS3. Even Kai still feels too long in spite of a bunch of filler being cut. I don't quite love the "Twilight vs Tirek" fight for reasons I won't go into, but I'll watch that over any DBZ fight. Adventure Time, Flapjack: I've seen a few episodes, and they really bored me. Princess Luna, Sunset Shimmer: I like those characters, but I don't really love them. Since this thread is about "hating" (or not liking at all), I'm not sure if there's a more appropriate thread to elaborate on this.
  12. Since the stuff with Starlight hasn't been resolved and she has a pretty big plan, it will probably have an epic feel. Unless some extremely powerful character is involved (including a superpowered Starlight), I don't think the finale will have a fight similar to the one with Tirek. The stakes will probably be higher though since it's about cutie marks.
  13. I wouldn't do anything because regardless of who my favorite pony is, she'd just get right back up and beat down the attacker. At least, that's what I'd prefer.
  14. The alicorn sisters have huge story potential, and I find Celestia's character is very interesting. My problem is that they've barely done anything with her. Of course she can't immediately beat the big villain when they show up, but it's too bad she just gets pushed out of the story so Twilight can try to fix everything. Isn't being a guardian of Equestria one of the alicorns' job? When was the last time Celestia was able to do that? There's a way to make her useful to the story without letting her solve the problem, but the writers don't seem to realize that yet. Outside of those "epic" stories, what else has she done for the show? I think Celestia's presence and usefulness in the overall show has been highlighted with the most recent episode.
  15. I first watched this show somewhat shortly after its premiere, though not on The Hub since I never had that channel. After rewatching Batman Beyond, I read on another site, Toonzone, stating that it was gonna get reruns on a new channel called The Hub (as in, I read about this before 10/10/10). After reading its lists of programs, this show stood out since I didn't think something like the 80's version of the show would still be made in this day and age, and that version was the one I was most familiar with. I read about bits and pieces of this show's concept, and some of the people on it were familiar to me including Lauren Faust and Rob Renzetti, whose recent cartoon efforts didn't impress me much. Because of that, I wasn't very interested in watching the show. I think a few days or so after the second episode aired, I read comments on Toonzone, and people said that it was pretty good. With nothing better to do, I decided to give it a shot, and I thought it was pretty good as well. I've never really watched a show like MLP before, so I decided to stick around, and here I am now.
  16. Large, powerful, flying reptiles that can breathe fire? Who wouldn't think that's cool? Then again, that just means I like western ones over the eastern ones. The Yu-Gi-Oh! card game has a lot of my favorite dragon art.
  17. Pyrophobia, which is weird since in a fantasy show with the 4 elements, fire is my favorite. Also, that fear could get in the way since cooking is a necessity...
  18. -I like Celestia more than Luna, and Celestia needs an episode or more to actually show her in a positive light. In fact, both need to be more important to the show, though Luna already shows a slight degree of importance toward the CMC. -The premiere is the only 2-parter I like. All of the other ones are lousy mainly because Celestia (and her sister by extension) do absolutely nothing. So much for being guardians of Equestria. I know the show isn't about the original alicorn rulers, but that doesn't mean they have to be useless to the stories. I did like parts of "Princess Twilight Sparkle" though, but that's mostly for the flashbacks, which weren't much but I'll take anything I can get about the history of Celestia and Luna. -"Dragon Quest" is also subpar, but it had some very funny moments. I'd also say the same for "Spike at Your Service" but to a smaller degree. -I don't know how well the Equestria Girls movies are received in general, but I think they're only fine enough at best. -I don't care much for Derpy, though pointing out her appearances is somewhat amusing ala "Where's Waldo?" There's probably other opinions I have, but this is all I can think of at the moment.
  19. I'm somewhat neutral toward the EQG movies, but I'll see the movie at some point.
  20. Dragon-type Pokemon generally. Because of that, I don't like fairies much/somewhat, though I do like Mawile.
  21. The people behind the show are simply not good at handling Celestia. They could just as easily make her the "wise and competent ruler" (along with other descriptions) that the show and other tie-ins directly state, but they don't want to for whatever reason.
