I have one of those days where I just can't get anything done, but instead of staring at a wall, I stared at youtube, and, this was an interesting video if you have 1h 20min free time
SpoilerIn summary, it talks about the mass extinction events in earth's history, and it really puts things in perspective, life really is something.
-
It always ends the same, I always end up being awake way too late, and find myself listening to either my playlist or patriotic Finnish songs. on totally not related note, old Finnish war songs are bangers

Rose got a backstory now

The link seems to refuse to embed for reason or another, so gotta life with that. I even tried to use the code thing to get it to work in my About me

I should be sleeping, but I ended up watching bit of people losing their minds over Starfield again (yes, the pronouns thing), and while I already shared my thoughts about the topic, something hit me.
All these people, losing over such pointless stuff, I used to watch them, I used to respect them, I was one of them. I had my phase of "anti-SJW", I almost became something close what internet calls "incels", I was so hateful, so angry, so miserable....
But thanks to, partly these forums, and partly, from all things, few youtube channels reading memes from reddit, and due to me just growing up and touching grass, I broke out of that bubble, and now, as I watch these people melt over something so god damn pointless, I feel...glad, glad because I managed to break out of that misery, I looked into a mirror and realized I was going towards a bad place.
Nowadays, I'm just...tired, tired of all this negativity, I just want to boot up my games and have a good time, we get so caught up in pointless things, "too woke" "Not woke enough" "this one thing is not realistic" "This is too realistic" blah blah blah. I don't care if the game isn't perfect, I don't care if the main character is or is not some specific identity, I don't care if the game dev said something in twitter 10 years ago....I just want to enjoy my time.
screw Unity though, and Activison, and all these other greedy companies doing their best to ruin gaming.

I saw an adult man absolutely lose it over the fact that Starfield has an option for "they/them".
Really? as someone who plays lot of video games, more options is always better, especially in video games, especially especially in roleplaying games, if you don't want to be called They/Them in the game, don't choose it, it's that easy. I personally like it, because now when I eventually get the game (and mods), I can roleplay as this mysterious person who's face nobody has ever seen, and who's voice is also changed by them so that nobody even knows their gender.
The funny thing is, I used to watch this guy some years back, and he's one of those people who call others snowflakes, yet he himself throws a tantrum over pronouns in a video game.
My take on it? Grow up, look at a mirror, and go touch grass.
-
I haven't kept up with Starfield but it sounds like a similar situation that Forza Horizon 5 had, though I don't recall many influencers talking about it. It was mostly people whining on Reddit and such about how it's difficult for them to pick one of the pronoun options due to personal beliefs. I don't see how it's difficult, unless they're also questioning their own pronouns and are unsure themselves.
I like your idea of using they/them beyond the intended use for it. You can be a mysterious racing driver this way too.
And like any other game really, I imagine there's far worse problems in terms of gameplay in Starfield. FH5 has a problem with random hitboxes in the middle of where you're driving so it could cause your car to stop completely or flip over. The rewind feature is useful but it's GG's in multiplayer if this happens.

This, it has absolutely no effect on the game itself to have an extra option, and especially not their life. To me personally it's even weirder because I don't understand the general obsession with pronouns, partly due to my native language only having one, gender-neutral pronoun.
Like, I personally hate the "say few nice things and boom, the NPC wants to have sex with you." - thing that modern games have, but do I go on the internet to cry about it? no, I just don't interact with that mechanic, even in games like Cyberpunk where it's partly forced on you, I just skip it as quick as I can and move on with the game.

Exactly this too, Starfield has problems, but optional choice you see once in a playthrough is not one of them

New art, new character.
This time nothing to do with ponies, dragons, or dragon-ponies.
A Fox.Art is far from perfect, not happy with everything, but it's good enough.
I may be putting out a page for her in my blogs when I have the right mindset to come up with few certain things, but the short of it is...
She got tricked into a trap by malevolent being that was trapped in a mirror-prison, switching places, and now the poor fox is stuck inside while the malevolent thing is in her body going around doing whatever.- Show previous comments 1 more

@Tacodidra
Yeah, the loosest, but wouldn't that make pretty much everyone a furry, since anthro-animals have been in cartoon, and stories in general, since the start of storiesBut where goes the line after which you can't deny it? Enjoying anthro art? making anthro art? or am I a furry only after I start drawing boobs on the anthros?
I do know lot of furry terminology But it's only for art-reasons, I swear
-
Yeah, most of my favorite cartoons are about talking animals. I prefer them in most cases, since I feel that allows for less realistic, more fantastic stories and elements.
That's hard to say... I guess it depends on whether you consider yourself one (unless it's really obvious, like getting a fursuit – at that point, denying it won't really work). I don't, really, though I wouldn't take offense if someone thought differently.
-
I bought Metal Hellsinger (a game) today, and I must say, I don't remember when was the last time I enjoyed a game this much. This is great.
-
@Tacodidra
It's basically Doom, but a rhythm game.

New drawings, they are both redraws/redesigns.
Mystic Shade is an OC I made many years ago, and she was one of those OC that I made around one concept and didn't think much about it. The original art is made on paper, and if I remember right, she among the other OC created at the same time, was the first pony OC I created non-digitally.
She has evolved a story and personality with time, so I figured she deserves new picture. She(Halla), the first member of the pronoun gang , and the only one that is an actual character with story and stuff. I didn't really change anything about her, as I liked the original design already, I just made a more modern picture, and gave her a name.
Halla, like the names of the previous pronoun ghosts, is a Finnish word, it translates to "Frost", it means a specific type of cold weather, and, in right context, it also means "Harm" or other similar words. Thus, Halla is perfect name for her, as she is a cold mare, both physically, and in regards of her personality.

In things I never thought would be a thing in my life, two more things have appeared.
Seeing an opera singer live.
Having an official family coat of arms. (doesn't exist yet, but group of people is looking into making one)I also learned a fact that doesn't really surprise me at all, my family line (from mother's side) has spread around the world, as most do with enough generations, and where besides Finland are the biggest branches? Sweden and Germany, because of course they are.
-
I've started new drawings, and rarely can I say that I managed to do the exact thing I wanted in the sketch-step already. Without spoiling too much, I'll be making two redesigns, and one of them is a pony who is meant to seem unpleasant to be around, and, well, I only have the sketch and I already don't want anything to do with this pony And I know that they aren't as bad as they look

I ended up on a page about the different creatures from Finnish mythology, and, I saw a snippet of information that, while quite dark, feels very Finnish.
So there's this thing "Surma" (translates to Killing/death) who is basically the mythology's version of the grim reaper, and there's a little poems about it, a poems, to summon it, to summon it to kill someone you don't like.
Not gonna put them all here, but two of them i'll translate here. Also, what I find funny is, that in some of the poems, it is stated that if Surma comes like asked, the speaker will make them socks and winter gloves Aren't we nice, cursing people to death, and when the death comes, we give it clothing so that it doesn't get cold on its way back
SpoilerTranslations are far from perfect since I'm doing them myself, and English and Finnish don't go one to one.
"Tule, surma, suota myöten,
tauti, talven tietä myöten,
tapa lapset lattialle,
koiranpennut penkin alle!"Come, Death, through the swamp
disease, up the winter's road,
kill the children on the floor,
puppies under the bench.-----
"Tuoppas surma suota myöten,
Tapa kaik tää talon väki,
Tapa appi ahokselle,
Anoppi saunan lautasille,
Käly kylän kynnykselle,
Tapa nato naapurihin,
Tapa lapset lattialle,
Vanha ukko uunin päälle."Bring death through the swamp,
Kill everyone in this house
kill the father-in-law on the fields
Mother-in-law on Sauna's benches,
Sister-in-law on the village's doorstep (Kylä can also mean somewhere you are visiting in, no clue which is meant here)
kill sister-in-law at the neighbors (apparently both käly and nato mean sister-in-law, TIL)
Kill the children on the floor
Old man on top of the oven.Honestly, we were lot more creative in the past, now we just tell each other to F-off Imagine pissing off your neighbor and you hear them singing poems to summon the grim reaper that's lot more threatening than a middle finger and an insult.

Getting notifications that someone reacted to a post I had forgotten I ever posted is an experience, and it's always a gamble on if it will be a nice memory or a flashbang of cringe Though it is surprising to see that while I have changed as a person as I have matured during the years in the fandom, many things, including many opinions, have stayed the same, I just have gotten more foundation under those opinions.

Not really a matter of comfort for me, rather, don't want to waste the time of others, I like to chat with people, I also have this...disconnect with my internet persona, which means that there isn't really anything that is "uncomfortable" to me online, it's just that, what's the point of starting chats with people, if I have no idea what I would chat about? you know? Like, if there's something you (or anyone else) want to talk about, my characters? your characters? Life? games? cats? dragons? hay, I'm even open for politics, I'm 100% open for that, it's just that, I won't be the one to start that chat
And yeah, I'm doing fine enough, will have a nice long summer break before worrying about finding a new job, maybe i'll find the energy to draw again, I have quite the line of characters needing to be created, and few redraws.
-
Some years ago, we were threatened with what was then called "article 13" an EU law thingy. How it was talked about, made me worry about the fate of pinterest, which I used to find pictures for inspiration and reference for drawing. So, I saved all the pictures locally in case the bad thing happens.
It didn't happen, yet, it started a habit and...help
Spoiler(Tiedostoa = Files)
They all are pictures-
@Tacodidra
I was originally worried about that too but I remember that they later added something that limited it to sites beyond certain size, a size which, Poniverse is not even close to.

Okay, forget what I posted yesterday, the company isn't "in danger to go under", the company is going under, in fact, it has or soon will file for bankruptcy, so that's fun, I'll lose my job

I've started to take courses too for similar reasons. I just wish I had chosen a better subject to study in the first place, but what's done is done. I really hope things take a turn soon, not looking good at the moment with the things you already mentioned, a lot of layoffs in different companies and such.
-
What a lovely time to be alive, new government is planning to cut unemployment benefits, and the company I work for is in danger to go under, though honestly, I'd be lying if I said I feel anything about it. Though to be slightly less dramatic, the cuts probably won't affect me, because with how the company is doing, until they manage to pull a magic trick out of a hat, it'll go down pretty soon, while government changes are very slow, and even if they fast tracked to that specific decision as fast as they can for some reason, it would probably take place in the start of the next year at earliest.

I was just at the local pride, and while the atmosphere there was nice and positive, and the music wasn't bad even if i didn't really care for the lyrics, it didn't end up making me happier, quite the opposite actually, I cried when I got home. Because watching all the people having fun and enjoying their time with friends, really made me realize just how alone I am in reality, and have always been, and probably will be forever.Sure I have a friend, but while long lasting, it's not really that close of a friendship, you won't see us being silly with each other, online friends? sure, but they can't pull you into a half-hug and make a stupid joke about you. The truth is, I have never had anyone I feel close enough to be myself with. Some may ask what about my family? But even though they are great, they cannot provide that kind of connection.
Now, I'm not an idiot, I know someone like that won't just walk in my apartment, but there really isn't any real options, I'm too introverted and cowardly to approach anyone randomly, all events/hobbies are in weekdays so I'm either at work or dead tired from work, and most importantly, I don't drink alcohol.
The last part may sound random, but it is an actual problem, Finns are drunks, bars are the most common place for people to meet, and sure "need to go outside comfort zone" and blah blah, but seriously, by what chance, a person that doesn't like alcohol, doesn't care for sports, and doesn't like being surrounded by drunk people, would find any kind of fitting company in a bar? (ice hockey is big in Finland)

@Props Valroa
In my case it's not an issue of trust when it comes to the one friend I do have, he is very trustworthy, his personality just is such that one can't form a certain type of close relationship, he's bad with emotions so to speak. He's also very stubborn and close-minded, like for example, being a brony, he doesn't insult me on it or anything, but he would never even consider looking into the fandom because he dislikes things like anime, furries and such out of principle.@Princess Silky
I don't know if really is anxiety per say, now, I do have anxiety in certain situation, but not in general, i'm also not that shy, I'm actually quite social introvert, anyone who knows me will tell you that, I won't stop talking when I start, and i do enjoy talking. It's more a wall that i have build around myself, while not officially diagnosed, I'm 90% certainly autistic (Asperger more specifically) so that has effect on my social self, and I also have a history of being bullied, so I have grown to be very closed in, among other things, so while I'm social person, someone needs to push themselves through that wall first. in fact, these forums know more about me than anyone in my offline life, because the fact of none of you actually knowing who I am lets me express myself more directly.
My comment about not finding close connection like what I need has nothing to do with this however, and more to do with realities of life in this country. It is already unlikely that I find someone who matches with me that well, especially in reasonable time, because of how....un-norm-like my interests and such are, and then you add the fact that there's only 5 000 000 people in the whole country, and that's not even considering how many of those are actually of age that would realistically work.I appreciate the offer, but there's nothing more talking can do, I've seen professionals, I've been through that stuff, there's only action left, slow action, but action none the less. Honestly, the only reason why I ever started trying is my mother, if I wouldn't have been so lucky to have such great parents, Catpone Cerberus may have not been.
In fact, fun fact for those who know anything about my characters, the certain theme with them, especially those I consider my favorites, is not coincidence, character creation is my form of self-therapy, and playing as them is a sort of a mild form of "fake it until you make it".i'm bad at taking compliments but I do want to state that no bravery has been needed, because like my sexuality (asexual) these things really are not that big of a deal to me, anonymity of course helps, but frankly speaking, I'm done caring, "Damned if you do, and damned if you don't" as some say, I've taken so much mental torment from others in my life that I've grown numb to it, jerks will always be jerks, nothing one can do about it.
And lastly, It's not that the Pride disappointed me in any way, it was exactly what I expected, because I was there last year too, even if I was late then, a place with positive energy, but ultimately meaningless experience that leaves no lasting impact on me. What I didn't expect was the crash when I got home, though, I haven't been in the best of moods lately, so it could be that the realization was just the last drop in the bottle could hold.
Honestly, I don't really even know why I stayed up this late to write this response, I'm not seeking sympathy, because ultimately it's just words on a screen, and I can't really call it a rant/getting it off my chest either because frankly, I felt nothing, not when I started, not during writing, and not now, after it has been written, I truly am just like Anyway, sorry about ruining anyone's mood who decided to read this.
-
I have similar issues myself. There are a lot of people I talk to that have no interest in ponies. I have to admit I have no interest in furries or anime myself. It's sort of the opposite issue with me sort of - the majority of the people around me are into video games and shows I have no interest in myself, so it often feels like I am just existing in a conversation because they are all talking about and doing things I don't understand / have any sort of interest in.
There is nothing in my town of living that I could get involved in with people my age. I can't afford college, either. My former irl friends are gone. It's been years since I spoke to them, no idea where I'd go to find them anyway.
The biggest problem with people is finding like minded people in your area you can realistically interact with, in a basis that leads to friendship. At least that is what my experience is. -
@Props Valroa
It's not the lack of interest for me necessary, it's more the lack of tolerance. Let's keep using ponies/furries as example, I draw characters, ponies and what one could see as furry, since apparently all animal inspired things are considered furry nowadays. But I have nobody to show them. (I'm not counting online posting, because that lacks the personal connection)Interest is not required to appreciate someone else's interest, like, I don't care about cars, I know nothing about cars, but if someone is passionate about cars, and tells me enthusiastically about something car related they did, I will join the enthusiasm.
But the problem with my situation with the one friend is that, while we are a perfect fit in certain things, certain type of closeness can't form, because if something isn't in his interests, it's "k" at best, and "don't wanna hear it" at worst.
I don't know if anything I say makes sense since I kinda just let my hands to the writing without thinking what to write, but whatever.
I live in the 3rd largest city in Finland and I feel the same, and I'm not even looking for people of my age necessarily, just inside a reasonable age gap I've been through 2 vocational schools and still got no new friends, hay, even the army, something that people say always leads to friendships, left me with nothing.
I agree, though I'd say that modern technology does allow "your area" to be bit bigger, I don't mean online friendships, but friendships that start online but move offline...not that it has helped me in any way, but one can always hope.

Game glitches/bugs are weird.
Borderlands 2 is not the most polished game out there, and modding it probably doesn't help.
so we played that with a friend, and long story short, I managed to separate the camera from my character model, causing me to basically soft lock. Now, that's not really that interesting by itself, rather, the interesting part is what happened after. We tried to fix it by my friend getting my character killed through bringing me next to an enemy (I was stuck in a car), this didn't fix it, it only repositioned my camera, so I restarted the game. The weird part, when killed, the enemy that killed me dropped unusually high amount of loot, and with closer look, that loot was exact copy of my inventory.
What kind of code exists in the game that causes that to happen? What action went wrong in a way that enemy's loot pool became exact copy of one of the player character's inventory?

Quote
It's extra weird, because the player can never drop their inventory in death, and I don't think there exists a thing that would normally clone the player's inventory, nor should the mod, which only just moves some values around, add anything like that either, so it's not a case of pulling wrong code in wrong place.
Given you're playing on a modded version, I guess everything is possible.
QuoteThis is actually surprisingly common glitch in games, be it the exacts of pulling it off being different, I guess physics objects and unbreakable moving things don't go well together I remember time in Agents of Mayhem where my vehicle just launched for no reason. (pic included)(I don't recommend that game) . Though the under map happenings is weird, guess that's their way of doing the whole "teleporting back to map" thing
Yeah, it's very common, and it's always fun to toy with.
Same thing was happening in "7 Days to Die", for example. If you put a 4x4 truck into trader's gate and close it, things happen...
We literally spent hours putting trucks into different interactive things
QuoteI have a very faint memory of also experiencing similar bug at some point, though I'm not 100% sure, that does sound funny though
It was, we spent a lot of time watching that dude
QuoteWe managed to somehow break Claptrap's birthday quest for good with my friend, the mod may not be entirely blameless but I don't really know why it would have broken that from all possible quests. in short, somehow we managed to fail the "enjoy the party" part, and now, every time the quest is tried, it fails at that part immediately. We managed to break a quest where you don't even need to do anything
Oh that does sound familiar actually, I think we also have run into a trouble with that quest. There was something wrong with its completion, but I don't remember what exactly was happening.
QuoteWe are true game breakers with my friend, we don't even try half the time, and still do it, the quickest bug (not counting when game just doesn't start anymore) is 15 seconds from pressing 'start game'. In the game 'The hunter: Call of the wild' the moment he spawned in, my friend went to a nearby building and got stuck in the doorway...he had to restart the game
Exactly like me and my bro. Sometimes we try, sometimes we do not, but even crappy games are fun if we start playing them our own way.
Getting stuck is such a classic, and kinda the most disappointing result when you try to squeeze somewhere or something.
We've broke countless of games as well, I have some replays saved, like this one from dead island riptide - I was dying over there
(I have potatoed the resolution/quality to reduce filesize; also removed sound as nvidia captured our voice chat -- well rather, my bro's voice only, because it doesn't capture mine (input))
-
Me and my friend don't have replays because we have nothing that records our games, but we have screenshots, lot of them from Payday 2, that is a beautifully broken game (also our most played game).
Ultimately my favorite bugs are the ones that are weird but not game breaking, like Rivet
SpoilerAnd most of payday
Spoiler
If the game isn't already broken, we'll jump (sometimes golf) at walls until we find something to break, and if possible, we'll mod the game until it does break. (I have broken both versions of Skyrim to such a state that they no longer launch )
I have no idea when it started, but at some point we just started testing the limits of games for fun, purposely spamming animations, doors or whatever just to see if something happens. Like the flamethrower knife in the picture, it was actually triggered by a specific set of actions that I found by accident while jumping around and smashing buttons
-
I just finally finished Borderlands GOTY enchanted with my friend, and Christ, that was one of the most miserable gaming experiences I've had.

I see, I see.
With Borderlands 2, I had varied experiences. In the past I had extreme lags and troubles with connecting to a friend - while interestingly, pre-sequel was working great. Now not too long ago I've been re-playing these with my bro and the second one worked flawlessly, while the pre-sequel kept crashing. I just have a bad luck to these series I guess.
The vehicle physics are always broken and fun to toy with
-
@Rikifive
Game issues tend to be very machine specific cases, so everyone has bit different, my favorite is when Spore kept crashing on me and eventually the reason was because I had the Finnish language chosen in game (mind you, it was an officially supported language)
-
New art with tiny bit of backstory too for the character(s?), it's one character from two different universes.
Generally speaking, I'm happy with the end result, It's nice when I have strong idea of a character while drawing, lot more fun to draw.
-
New drawings, no new OCs this time, one is an art of one of my characters, Flint, that's the only picture with no character name written. I'm generally happy with the picture, it's far from perfect, and the body is bit messy due to the metal thing she is wearing, but that is only expected since the whole point of the picture was for me to try and draw a weird angle (for me), something I don't really do usually, and she isn't exactly one of the simplest when it comes to my character designs. This is actually a second such picture of her, I just never finished the first one so it was never posted anywhere.
The two others are more remakes of 2017 "characters", He and It, the original designs.
And following the pattern I started with the remake of "They", their new names come from Finnish, Palo meaning among other things, Burning, or Fire, and Kammo meaning, again, among other translations, Phobia and/or detestation. The picture I posted here isn't actually the full picture for Kammo, as I removed a detail due to not being 100% sure if it was okay to post here, but it wasn't anything too important and I'm not actually sure which version I like more. Also, bit of a content warning for it, as it is more on the creepy/horror side of design.
I have also come to realize how my skill in drawing has evolved as drawing ponies feels very simple nowadays, in fact, drawing the two...or well, one and 1/3 ponies took like half the time combined as it did for the Flint drawing alone, if even that, though granted, these are far from my most detailed ponies.
-
Guess extreme tiredness really does something for your brain, as I had the weirdest dream last night.
Details are of course blurry as it tends to be with dreams, but basically, in the dream, Hideo Kojima was looking for voice actors for something, and I was one of the candidates, there was bunch of weird and overly convoluted trials we all had to go through, I don't remember what exactly they were, but they had nothing to do with voice acting, and ultimately I lost because I was late to a political speech held by him due to helping some random woman to deal with someone harassing them.
I have no idea why Hideo Kojima is in my dreams since I don't really care about him or anything he has made, but well, dreams

So, in Finland elections are close, and....well, this is objectively the best thing that has come out of all the election nonsense
