I have really nothing against this, but few suggestion on how to do it Firstly, whenever the time for it is, it shouldn't just suddenly happen out of nowhere, instead there should be some foreshadowing, so instead of suddenly going, "oh btw, they have this now and it has been armed", there would be for example reports of small chemical attacks against troops here and there that come to out character as just that, reports, a heads up report that the enemy is now using chemicals of some sort, they would not see them personally anywhere, but there would be a clear implication that some kind of smaller tests are being done. Only after that would this bigger weapon come to play. also if it wasn't apparent, from those two I personally prefer the chemical option over the nukes, for two reasons: 1. It would be hard to believe that they suddenly got everything needed for that. 2. Earth would certainly nuke them after that. Second, Ember. There obviously is nothing for Ember to do during this, since she wouldn't try to sacrifice herself (not that she would know how to disable a modern weapon anyway) and she's not a good emotional support to Sky as has been seen, so it would be good if there was something else happening that I could write something more than just "Ember followed the situation quietly until it ended." What it would be, don't know to say at this point, but something so that it wouldn't just be "2 characters talking while everyone else stands there". depending on how you were planning to do this, Arrow and Ember could build theirs at the same time so that, again, there's something to do for me too (and it could be good for it to be something else than someone just telling how close Sky and Ace are, you know, the whole "show don't tell" thing.) Honestly I kinda expected him to just shoot and win the problem with bringing in canon characters like Nightmare moon is that they ultimately will be pushovers, because either they are demi-gods or they can be killed by characters whose only "power" is modern weapons, in the former case none of our characters could realistically take them down.

@Blitz Boom Ruby said something to Charir, and based on it being only few words combined with Charir's body language, it could be assumed to be something along the lines of 'stay close'. "Let's go." she then said before continuing with the previous topic as they went "You are correct that it does not change anything between me and my mother, her actions have still happened, and I don't see why I should look past them for any reason." "It also may be that she is not aware of it herself, since I don't find it unlikely that they can disguise themselves as one of us with enough perfection to fool us." "My only wonder is why her from all dragons, certainly there was stronger and all the way better options out there, yet she has been the one at least twice now." she didn't believe it was a coincidence, because in her eyes, regardless of if it was an actual elder or a direct relative, it was unlikely that they would just randomly go around spreading their bloodline among a species like hers instead of picking and choosing. For Leviathan's suggestion of illusion and pocket dimensions Ruby just nodded since she didn't have anything to comment regarding it, after all, she had expressed already her believe that if the elders are around, they are most likely hiding, and with that came the possibility of dimensional magic, since a dragon that age would be huge assuming their growth never stopped like was the case for Ruby's kind, and the homelands wasn't a big enough place to hide many dragons that size without some kind of magical shenanigans. Leviathan's tail shake went seemingly ignored by Ruby like her head burying had, but Charir observed the situation curiously, though he wasn't judging her in any way, hay, he didn't even know what a dog was, he just figured it was either a cramp of some sort, or something that this species of dragons just did. Charir would stay close to the two older dragons the hole time, walking between them as much as he could, still preferring to be bit closer to Leviathan rather than Ruby, regardless of Ruby's new look, his part of the whole act was pretty easy, just be yourself and don't cause trouble, because he acted very much like a hatchling would in that situation anyway, since he was one. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Scarecrow shrugged at the question of his skulls indestructibility, he only knew that certain spells and a rock many times bigger than him wasn't enough to damage it, that didn't necessary mean total indestructibility, only that destroying it would take lot more than a skull normally would. But because he didn't know what was true regarding that, he didn't comment either way. "If I'm a deity, I'm doing quite a bad job." he said sounding almost amused, though there was no real joy in that amusement "I have no powers, I don't know my own purpose, most living beings either run away or want to destroy me...." "Whatever that black growth is, it isn't spreading outside my body, so I'm not even a threat to anything until I decide so." "But ultimately I can't refute your suggestion, I don't know what I am, I only know I haven't always been this, but I also don't know for sure what or when I was." "And travel is no trouble, though it may have to wait for some time, as I don't feel it would be a good idea for me to travel among the living before I master my disguise, mostly because I don't wish to cause unnecessary distress to anyone." it would also get old very quick if there would be trouble constantly with guards or any other creatures that may want to deal with a monster, he was a patient being, but even he got tired of things. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- There was lot of things the siblings wanted to say, so they addressed the things in order, even though it caused the conversation to break apart a bit. "But now machines have replaced slaves in most things, as they do more faster and need no rest or food, though it was never outlawed" "That doesn't mean it's great, the comment about ending up as your slave was not a joke." not being owned by someone didn't mean you were necessarily free "And yes, our education may be lacking from your point of view, but our parents and others from our community taught us exactly what we needed to know, we never saw the history we were taught as a correct one, it was just something you needed to know, in fact, the official story had false information about our species too, so it was very clear there was some....rewording of things." "And no mind tricks, I rather read for rest of my life tha...just no." There was strong emotion behind Sheska's declaration before she forced herself to calm down as she cut her words short, Trox looked momentarily worried before he continued to get attention away from that "While it is true that our knowledge of many things is limited, comparing your Nightmare Moon to ours is not necessarily the correct way to look at things, because while I won't claim her to be perfect, everyone knows that's not true, she didn't get defeated, that already makes them different." "And as Sheska said, we rather read the information ourselves, and don't worry, you don't need to tell us to be critical of written history, you don't become a rebel by trusting your rulers." he was interested in getting to read some of this places history just to compare it to theirs. "Lastly, we have no reason to ask the guard about these elements, it matter to us none if they exist or not, the point mainly was that regardless of how much we dislike him, from us three he knows the most, we are mere civilians in that regard, even if we know bit more than the average civilian."

"As much as I want to share your optimistic thought, I doubt our situation is that good." Jenna stated "We have seen two of the countless portals that will appear assuming all dates in that letter are accurate, meaning that those who are able to do something about this are spread very thin." "There's clearly not that many of us who have powers, and from those who are, how many do have powers that actually help with this?" "And from those, how many are either too young, old or sick to help?" "Numbers alone also won't help, if bunch of trained soldiers can barely slow them down, what can untrained people do?" She looked thoughtful "I think I now know why the authorities have dealt with this like they have." "There isn't enough troops here because it was never the goal to stop them at the portal, they only sent just enough to slow them down." "Rest are most likely getting ready to defend the evacuation points." she kept a small pause before muttering "I hope they're not planning to nuke them."

"Don't try claim that the idea of petting a dragon like a dog isn't something you'd enjoy." Jenna teased "I'm sure there's plenty of self-interest in your offers of pampering, and I'm not saying it's a bad thing, humans and dragons like most animals are selfish creatures by nature, it's only expected to think about one's own gains." she smiled at him. Regarding the mall she just shrugged, maybe there was something, maybe there was not.

@Lucid_Nightlight Ruby killed the dragon/changeling before he had time to react, he hadn't been specially annoying or anything, so she had no reason to prolong it, though it would leave quite a mess since the throat was the quickest way to do it. "I can do that, as long as I'm informed on what exactly I should be looking for, since I don't know what is the expected norm for your underlings." "My request also still stands if you at any point consider it." this spy hadn't really helped the case for the ponies and bunch, Ruby had gotten enough of the treatment she was getting and that was why she had left them, and what was the first thing a spy from their side did? insult and belittle her, they never learned it seems. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ember didn't comment anything on the story, just nodding in acknowledgment, there seemed to be more information than was required for the explanation of their name, but again as stated, she didn't dislike new information. "No idea, I don't know much about firearms and threats like this tend to be outside my pay-grade." this would ring true in her actions too, nightmare moon, real or not, was beyond her abilities, so she would mostly just focus on keeping herself safe rather than actively fighting, this was something for Luna and possibly the elements to deal with, or modern weaponry, she wasn't sure, it may be that advanced weaponry was effective in this situation. The threat to her was mainly the brute force of alicorn magic, her armor was magic resistant from material alone and it had plenty of enchantments to protect her from things like mind altering spells and levitation, but it was still just armor, and while it could take few blasts of magic even from alicorn, it had its limit, thus her strategy would mainly be, 'don't get hit by anything'

@Illiad Easle Ædriga shook her head "I no need or want see, only fly." flying for sake of flying, there wasn't always a bigger reason. "Yes I want learn, when I know how, I can help you." she didn't cook food herself, so there was no personal reason to learn cooking, she just wanted to help Ætheron with it, since in her eyes she owed it to him. As she spoke she got her harness back on "And yes, I ready."

Jenna smiled "Just don't get your hopes too high up, in real form our sense of touch isn't nearly as sensitive as most creatures'." "Made getting used to being human quite hard at first, honestly I'm still not used to it fully." Things like feeling a insect land on you was one of the things that still got her off guard now and then, in her real form she didn't need to acknowledge those little things. A mall was coming to view some walking distance away.

"My vote is on the first one, latter would indicate quite a set of abilities." Jenna said, and as she said it, the back end of the forces was finally reached, and the flow of things from the portal stopped, so there was a end to that army, not that it helped the human army in any ways, as they kept slowly but surely retreating. "So they are not infinite? That's a good sign." She commented in part sarcastic manner.

@Illiad Easle Ædriga landed smoothly a small distance away from the camp, walking the rest of the way as she closed her wings on her sides, it felt good to fly again for sake of flying, especially since the last few times she had felt the air under them she had been fleeing from something. "Yes and no, fly good, and like what see, but no see what like." she responded rather cheerfully, it wasn't hard to tell that her little morning flight had gotten her spirits bit higher than their usual level. There hadn't been anything specific that would have gotten her attention, but she enjoyed the views she had when she was in the air. "Food good? I no know how you eat you food, but I try." she gave him a smile, it seemed that she was getting the hang of the whole smiling thing.

@Lucid_Nightlight Ruby just blinked at Quasi, not really on the mood to talk about what to her was meaningless things, besides, even if she would have been on a mood to do so, she was not interested in mentioning her emotions when there was unwanted company around. "It's you who is lacking in brain if you can't understand why I would ask if someone is currently somewhere." her tone was cold, and her demeanor told that she looked down on the unnamed dragon. She continued when she made her way out of the room "I arrived yesterday, I haven't exactly been informed of your dear queen's schedule." Assuming she was not stopped with enough force, she would make her way to the throne room and without wasting time with waiting for permission, state her business "The pony princess of the night invaded my mind during the night, don't remember details but I had deemed it important enough to notify myself." "My guess is that they are regretting their mistakes and are trying to get me reconsider, so I'll ask you to, if you weren't already planning it, send me to a killing mission, more creatures the better. That would be a chance for you to test my allegiance if you have any doubts, and it would give me the chance to make it clear to them that I'm not interested in whatever they may offer." if it wasn't clear to them already, the way she just walked in and declared her business would show well just what kind of dragon she was, no titles, no apologies, nothing like that, just straight to the point with no regard for ranks or anything like that. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ "Go ahead if you can do it while I get something to eat, can't comment on if Zebras are interested in interacting with you." Ember stated, she didn't necessarily want to know, but she also didn't dislike learning new things. She either went somewhere where she could buy food, or somewhere she could just take some, depending on if the city had anything open, regardless, she didn't stop moving until something like that was found, sure she could have gotten food on her own way, but this was a city, certainly there was easy food in a city for a omnivorous creature.

"Same, it doesn't help that my parents don't know about the whole powers thing." Jenna admitted "And maybe they did, or they just wanted to go look closer what was going on." "Speaking of, I wonder where they went, there hasn't been signs of them since the left our view."

Jenna shrugged "Don't know, it kinda has the same problem as with massage." "I do kinda envy other animals when it comes to that, it looks like it would be nice." she smiled with amusement "Though in other hand, I wouldn't be surprised if my natural reaction would be similar to how some cats react." due to their scales being more a suit of armor rather than their skin, its sense of touch was lot weaker than their actual skin's that was under it.

@Illiad Easle Ædriga thought about Ætheron's words and didn't have time to respond as his suggestion for heading to bed, it was more complicated thing to think about that one would think, because she had never actually thought about what she wanted from a potential partner, mostly due to not even considering it to be a possibility, not only because of her situation, but also because her kind didn't have partners in general, there was no fathers, the males were chased away or killed after they had filled their purpose. A side effect of that culture was that the creation of offspring was lot more...meaningless, meaning that even if they would have felt love normally, it would be separate from continuing one's bloodline. In other word, something like sharing one's treasure would be seen as a lot bigger show of affection than offspring She nodded "Yes" her tone being more how one would say 'okay', as she got up and walked around a bit, if there was nothing more, she would head to sleep soon enough, not studying this time, as she had gone through most of the book already. In the morning, there would be a small surprise waiting for Ætheron, the fire had been lit and above it was a rabbit on a stick being cooked, Ædriga wasn't anywhere to be seen, but there was writing and a small drawing on the ground. Next to the rabbit's stick there was the text 'Take and eat' and near that was 'I close' with a line to a drawing of a dragon with wings open above what looked like a top of a tree. If Ætheron called for her, she would after some delay appear from above the trees and land, she had been flying around. She would eventually come back even if Ætheron didn't call for her.

I don't see reason for Quasi getting injured too. Ruby would survive because while she would get injured seriously enough to collapse if not pass out, there would not be lethal damage, there maybe could be permanent damage, but not enough to be lethal assuming she'll get some kind of basic care after it, (like taking care of wounds) since her kind is unreasonably durable and things like inflammation isn't really a risk due to their high body temperature killing most if not all bacteria and viruses. How I think it could go is: Ruby goes down due to the backup attacking her in her already weak state, there's maybe some dialogue between then if the one attacking her has a ego or something, Quasi would arrive in time and get involved (he would know to come because the backup would have broken down the door(s) since Ruby of course would seal them to stop them from coming, and breaking doors makes noise, and the library is relatively close to the throne room.) he would do well enough since he buffed himself to be comparable to Ruby, but even if he would have trouble, Ember and others would come soon after to finish things as them getting into the building would most likely be the moment Ruby first acts. Then as things calm down, there would be dialogue with Quasi worrying about Ruby and the others saying their own things (for example I'd imagine Sky being justifiably angry at Ruby since even though she in the end takes down the leader, she would still have killed quite a lot of creatures from the 'good side'.) and eventually she would be taken somewhere where she gets help (since even if someone went so far as to demand Ruby to pay for her crimes, it's hard to punish someone who is dead) and Quasi would have plenty of time to worry over her since she would be literally unable to do anything about it. Then at some point where both agree would be good moment to end, the ending. Cliffhanger is not a good idea in my opinion, because while starting a new RP with other RP being as the backstory is not a bad idea, continuing from a certain point by my experience never tends to work. In my opinion the best way to end it would be (a) conclusion post(s) which would give the type of "Happily ever after for now" ending. I don't know how to explain things so I'll just give an example. that type of thing, a post where it's summarized how their lives went on for few years or so and leaving it with the idea that this is how it will go for some time in future too. This way if we end up starting a new RP with this RP being canon in that RP, it can be started with a summary of this RP with small mention of what are the last things that happened before the new RP, making it easier in my opinion. I don't know if it's skill thing necessarily, it may be, it may not, it depends what is considered RP skill. The only things really see as a problem is the hurry and information related things. I have brought all these up when they got hard to ignore, but I'll make a final dumb here with ways how I see it would be done better. Don't take it as anger or anything like that, I just want to give hints and share what I think you could improve on, you are welcome to do the same for me if there's anything that bothers you. If it isn't clear enough, I am willing to start a new RP after this one, even one with this being "Canon" in it, but it would be preferable if we could plan that out a bit, and stick to that plan, no more dragon civil wars turning into multidimensional chaos.

I wish to exchange some words with her." ------------------------------------------------------------ Since she didn't get answer to her question, Ember started to make her way towards whatever was the closest place that looked like there was food, it was't like the conversation involved her anyway before she was asked a question "I have no experience on that field so I can't tell much, some things are spells rather than medicine, Zebras use lot of herbs and plants, I don't know what exactly ponies use to make medicine, but they are usually some form of potions. That's all I know." she was more familiar with taking lives rather than saving them.

"Hopefully." Jenna simply said, at this point she couldn't be sure about anything, few days ago she was sure no reality breaking portals could suddenly appear in real life, yet here they were. "By preparing for as much as possible." "We need to gather as much equipment as is reasonable to carry, I have a lot here, but we need to go through it since I don't know if all of its functional, some of the things have been laying around quite a while." "We'll probably have to stay here for a day or two at least so that the area clears up a bit, I'll see if I can get any information during that time, who knows, maybe someone has visited that first portal."

"The massage?" Jenna asked, as she wasn't fully sure what Oliver meant "You're gonna need a jackhammer to make me even feel anything if you are planning to do anything through my scales." "Not sure if even that would be enough to be honest."

"My information comes from what my mother has told me and from writings of an explorer of unknown species who's last entry told of the plan to explore the inner areas of the homelands." "I personally believe that if they are still around, they are hiding somewhere, with my studies of our kinds magic I have come to believe that our predecessors were powerful beyond comprehension, making the ponies' strongest spells inefficient at best when compared, meaning that they could wipe us out with ease if they wanted, yet they haven't, which leaves only two options, either they are gone, or they are purposely keeping away from us, as anyone like that would have been heard of even at the edges of the homelands." "The appearance of elemental magic with Charir and I does challenge the thought that they are gone, as it is not something our kind in its current form naturally has, meaning that one of them, or a direct relative of theirs has mixed their blood with my bloodline, and with us being so different, that could be as recent as my mother." If it hadn't been visible before, this was a good example of Ruby's more intellectual side, she wasn't just a bloodthirsty brute, she just lived like one. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Scarecrow was unfazed by the reaction, not that anyone would have been able to tell otherwise. "As stated, you shouldn't feel bad for not being successful, especially since this is the first time I remember feeling any effect, as your scythe clearly tried to do something." "And yes, I have burned myself, sliced myself into pieces, crushed myself, even vaporized myself with few old spells I found, I can't even remember all the ways I have tried to destroy myself." "But two things always happen, one, my skull always remains, I have yet to find a way to damage it, and two, rest of me grow back slowly but surely, it starts as the black growth you can see taking over, but some parts turn back to bone and flesh, though I don't know if it actually changes or if it's like my wings." he lowered his wing so that he could grab it with his hoof "It looks like feathers, feels like feathers. probably smells like one too" he pulled off a feather "If you found this on the ground you would think it is a feather, but it's not." he put it back on his wing and it stuck before disappearing like it was absorbed, while a new feather appeared where he had pulled it from "These wings also don't have any bones." he twisted his wing far beyond the physical limits in several directions, but unlike with his neck, there was no unpleasant sounds of any kind, it just twisted and when he let go, it returned to it's normal position. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Onache's conclusion regarding Trox's cybernetics wasn't fully correct, but to him it was close enough since she wasn't technically wrong either, so he just nodded to confirm her guess, he wasn't really a good at teaching others, so he decided not to even try to explain the science of modern technology to someone who in already under-developed place was considered ignorant of technology. It wasn't an insult towards Onache, it was more acknowledgement of his own lack of ability. "Regarding Discord, I personally believe that if he or his kind ever existed in our Equestria, they either left or are hiding, mainly because, well, if they would have been captured or killed, we would have seen lot more weaponized chaos magic, something that doesn't....or at least didn't exist, we don't know how long it has been for sure after all." "And we are educated like everyone else, we were kids at one point too, history is one of those things you have to learn." "But if it's the real history, that's a question on its own, the official history tends to be rather...one sided, all good is thanks to Nightmare moon, and all bad is thanks to everyone else." "No doubt the same is true in the Solar Empire, just with the sides reversed." "It's basically propaganda." "But you're right that we have never heard of any Elements of Harmony." or harmony in general, they of course knew what it meant, but there had been no harmony of any kind during their lifetime. "If anyone knows about them, that would be the Solar guard that visited here, we don't like him, but if we are right about his unit, he would have had an access to lot of classified information."

@Illiad Easle "Dragon and no dragon can family?" Ædriga asked, she had noticed Ætheron's concern and had been about to ask about it, but what he said had taken her focus away from that, she also appreciated the promise he had given regarding caves, but again, the last part had taken her attention. She was thoughtful for a moment, "Dragon, no dragon...." she shrugged "...I want family who say I mother." she drew on the ground, she drew a dragon, then two question marks to where a father and a kid would be, she didn't know for sure what the question mark meant exactly, but she had seen it been used in end of questions "Family like..." she pointed at the drawing in general, then pointing at the 'kid' "....say I mother, but, no...need?... like..." she drew lines that showed the usual family connection, mother, father and their kid, the word 'need' was unsure as she hadn't used it before "...can like..." she then removed the lines, and instead drew two more question marks, from which she drew lines to the 'kid', before pointing at it again "...I no mother, but say I mother." Basically she was saying that it didn't need to be a biological family, she just wanted a family where there was someone looking up to her as their mother, she wanted to be what she didn't have, a caring mother. Having a partner of some sort would have been great too, even just a friend to call the father, but that wasn't as big thing. It of course would have been better if it was her own biological offspring she took care of, but with her hereditary faults and her acceptance of reality, she was open for adoption too as long as it was young enough to see her as the mother.

"If I had control over it, I would do everything as calmly as possible." Jenna pointed out "But trying shouldn't hurt, for now the only thing that has managed to relax me in any way was that little massage you gave me at that one point."

"And to close them yes." Jenna said "But it will have to wait, we'll have to see if they ever stop coming, it'll be impossible to get there as long as there's a constant flow of them." "That and we need to prepare, we don't know what's on the other side, the only thing we have to go on is what we see here, thus we only know that it's most likely cold and dark in there."

Ruby pointed out "I would have killed most males at this point already, take it as you will." she got up and stretched "What's this 'murder fruit' thing you suddenly started saying, does the word fruit have meanings or implications I am not aware of?" she didn't sound annoyed or anything, she was just asking a question "And have you seen Gladia, I have something to mention and a small request." --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Any idea how long it'll take?" Ember asked "Because if it will be a while, I'll go get something to eat."

@Lucid_Nightlight I think you posted this accidentally to the wrong thread anyway.... It should be clear at this point that Ruby doesn't do things because they are the right things to do, there is no right and wrong as far as she's concerned, closest thing to wrong that she acknowledges is actions that make one show their weakness, like for example killing babies, she doesn't see it as evil, but whoever does something like that is in her eyes disgustingly weak and thus doesn't deserve to live. She has her own, sometimes weird and even nonsensical motives to do things she does. She also won't do something if she keeps getting reminded about it, quite the opposite actually, if it gets annoying enough to her, she'll do the exact opposite out of spite. Though she will end up taking on the leader in the end regardless of what the exact motivation is, since in any situation that will be in her personal interest to do. For the plan with her, I'd say to go with what I originally said, she becomes an actual part of the enemy, killing lot of "good guys" to prove her loyalty, making everyone see that she has truly switched sides, it would be to the point that when they get closer and closer to the last battle, the group is mentally prepared for the fact that they have to go against Ruby. It won't be until they reach the throne room the reality will come apparent, as at that point the fight between Ruby and the leader would have already ended, and Ruby would be on the ground bracing for her last breath as whoever it is who would be the one to come to their leaders assistance is getting ready to end her for good. For Quasi, she already cares about him, but not in the obvious way. She doesn't feel empathy/sympathy, and that's not something that'll change just like that, in theory it could change with time, but not in time that this RP takes place, it would be matter of years and years, so showing caring through that doesn't happen. For straight up love, she wouldn't be able to tell even if she did feel that, because she has no idea what it is supposed to feel. Her caring is less a showcase of emotion, since she's mentally a very cold creature, partly by nature, partly due to her awful upbringing and life.
