In mourning. I had to put one of my cats down. She was in bad shape. Within the span of a month, she lost a ton of weight and had a hard time breathing, gasping for air for the past few days. Doctors say it was cancer, and didn't have long. She was even crashing during the x ray scan and had to be given oxygen. It was best to do it today, where I can say good bye, instead of having her die beneath my bed while I'm at work. In the end, it was the right call.
She's skiddish, so the past month I kept her exclusively in my room. And she was a lot happier for it. She jumped up onto my bed. Wanted to snuggle. Kept headbutting me.
I'm glad I made her last month a good one for her. Even during her final rough moments, clinging to life, I was still able to comfort her, still able to make her purr. Still able to make her happy.
She was the first cat my family ever got just for me. And I'm glad that over the past few weeks, I managed to rekindle my bond with her.
Thanks for everything old friend. May you finally be at rest, and may your memory live on.
