Your mother should have a bit more confidence in you over this kind of stuff. You definitely seem like someone who is smart enough not to converse with questionable people.

I think it is more to do with the fact that I am online too often, so I think I will cut down on that and then tell her.

i know what you mean, some parents tend to be like that (same for mine), tell her that evryone of your ages does these kind of things evryday. some parents just tend to be like this, my parents are somethimes very annoying with such things, the thing i usually do is laugh at them, but you shouldn't do that yourself xD. but for real, i honestly dont know what to do in these sorts of situations even tough i have them alot myself. so sorry if i cant be any help to you.
