It has now been confirmed. Change will never come from above. Nothing short of total revolution will fix the US or the world.

Just voted in the California primaries today. Didn't have time to research it at all, so I just voted Republican down the ticket. Picked some guy named John Cox for governor and some guy named Patrick Little to run against Feinstein for Senate. Hope everything works out alright. I know how Californian liberals feel about Republicans. I sure hope that it wont cause any chaos in the streets if any Republicans win here.

Liberals: The AR in AR-15 doesn’t stand for assault rifle. AR-15 is short for AR15totle, an ancient Greek philosopher and author of Nicomachinegun Ethics.

@A.V. I'll personally never believe in life after love.
-
@Kyoshi But it isn't really an assault rifle. It's not fully automatic or even burst fire unless it's somehow modified to fire that way

But those leaders are legally paying for a stay at his hotel, a perfectly legitimate transaction. If you were Trump, would you just deny them service simply because they're Saudi Arabian lobbyists? If you're suspicious of something going down under the table there, why wouldn't you share that same suspicion with an American politician partying with Communists?
I understand if you still disagree, but I think this is the point where we should be respectful to Twiggy and agree to disagree.
-
I don't believe that something is going on under the table, so to speak. I believe that Trump may subconsciously give deals that he shouldn't to the world leaders who pay him. People tend to be more forgiving and accepting of people who pay them, after all. The reason for why I don't really think that Bernies honeymoon to the Soviet Union is anything to worry about is because it happened in 88 when he was just a mayor. Also judging by the article that you linked, he just partied with normal everyday folks. Hell, they're not even sure that they are Soviets.
Also if I were Trump, I would have first of all sold all of my businesses the moment I became president, precisely so that I wouldn't create a conflict of interest. Like Carter did.

@JonasDarkmane it’s really not that bad imo. I don’t get why everyone complains about it.

Never fear, the fuckin' Boomer-Mobile is here. Why the hell do people do this? I can't think of a single thing more cringe worthy to do to your vehicle than with political bloviations. Even the guy that did it with furry bumper stickers had an air of irony surrounding it.

In 500 years, when our descendants dig up the ashes of our civilization, they will look back at us and think, “Wow. They deserved those famines and pandemics.”

@Nsxile Two things can be bad at once m8.
-
@Nsxile and "everyday killing and tortures" has everything to do with this discussion. Yes they're a thing, but they have no relevancy here.
-
@Twiggy it is also possible for one thing to be objectively worse than the other, and the stuff I mentioned above are massively worse to any sane person. It can also be argued that porn doesn't cause any actual harm and provides an overall benefit by letting people act out their innate biological desires without contracting an STD and potentially spreading it further.
@Angus Delaney Sorry, but the statement 'In 500 years, when our descendants dig up the ashes of our civilization, they will look back at us and think, “Wow. They deserved those famines and pandemics.”' is basically saying because of porn, we deserve to suffer. What I'm saying in response to that is; 'Really? Humans commit a variety of actual crimes and atrocities, yet porn is the absolute worst thing you could think of for commending us?' I'm afraid, in that context, it is absolutely relevant.

Unironically this is part of what’s needed to beat Trump. The highroad thing would work if Trump was just unpleasant. Unfortunately he’s actually funny, so in order to beat him you need to get in the mud with him.
Also smart trying to bait a response from him by calling him a fat fuck who would pass out after a few pushups.

@Twiggy By then there will be fewer candidates, and that 2% would look so bad that there's literally no chance of recovering. It's already looking like a lot of them are going to bow out in the near future. Tim Ryan and Mike Gravel (unfortunately, he was treated like $#!+) have already since the debates.

I want to like Yang, I really do, hell I want to like Tulsi, but some of their policies are just no goes for me. I honestly wish the President would come out with more substantial policies, that appeal not only to his base, centerists, but the undecided voters as well. But more than likely he's still going to get my vote in 2020. I just want something more, that will silence the majority of his critics, and make conservatives good for a change. But that's more than likely wishful thinking.

Being realistic while it would probably be a lot more complicated that just outright buying the island, it wouldn’t be the worst deal for them. The Danes have had some financial issues in supporting the territory and the US, being closer and having more resources, could greatly improve the infrastructure and economy of the island if it were to be annexed. For those that don’t like Trump, he won’t be president forever, but being a part of the US would be far more long term.
It’s also of strategic value to us as long range radar placed there could reach thousands of miles into Russia, not to mention all that arctic oil and finally having Canada properly encircled.
Of course the biggest caveat would be that the people of Greenland would need to agree (they are at least semi-autonomous) but if they did I would support this move. It’s easy to blow it off as orange moron spouting nonsense, but it seems like it would be a mutually beneficial deal if possible.
-
Greenland also has gold, so there is also a potential to establish a lot of gold mines.
I doubt the people of Greenland would look very favorably at joining up with the US, considering with their struggle of independence. I would have said sure, maybe 50 years ago, the people there would be more open to it, but if we just look from an ideological perspective, they are very much on the left and I doubt the idea of joining up with the US would sound appealing to them, especially when it comes to whether they would be recognized as a new state or if they would just be a powerless territory.
Also, if one takes a look at all the political parties in Greenland, 4 out of 7 of the parties aim for independence and the other three who do not hold 9 seats against the others who hold 22 seats.
Currently, the pro-independence parties are fine with being still part of Denmark so long as they can continue sucking money towards them until they feel ready to go on their own. But if it came to it, I think they would rather go the independent route rather than joining up with the US.
But hey, we will see. Crazy shit is going on in Hong Kong. If UK (or even the US) can somehow get Hong Kong (back), I bet it should be possible for the US to nab Greenland.
Of course I will be sitting in my small corner in Iceland holding my fish close to me, terrified, as yet another giant encroaches upon my country's territory~

1.5 trillion dollars for a Wall Street bailout. That's a 13 digit number. Let me write it out properly.
$1,500,000,000,000.
That much going to banks instead of testing kits and health care.
I've made some posts about imperialism in jest before. They are no longer in jest. I renounce libertarianism in it's entirety. What we need is a Caesar to cross the Potomac in order to unfuck things.
