I think that was simply an oversight on the writers part. I mean, even though Cadance wasn't in the show yet, if we examine canon material she was a princess as well at the time too in the show's chronology, and she wasn't there. Just wait, I'm not saying Twilight's required for sure, but I wouldn't be surprised in the slightest if they drop a line like that during the episode.

You mentioned earlier that you assist a thespian troupe. Do you act at all, or hope to act some day, or do something else?

Our president, the U.S. president, doesn't have power, you say? I don't blame you though for having that notion; the way Obama goes on, you'd think he doesn't have any power. No, Obama's just confused about (or, at the worst, not satisfied with) what power he has. Congress has all legislative power in our country, that is, they have all the power to write and ratify any new federal laws, and that includes new taxes, civil rights legislation, etc. (though not counting something as major as a constitutional amendment, that has to go to the states themselves). The president has all executive power in our country at the federal level, that is, it is his job to uphold all federal laws and ensure that they are implemented. That's why he has command of our armed forces, but still can't declare a war on his own. Now, in practice neither branch is completely the same as it used to be in our country; if anything, due to changes in presidential behavior that really date back to the Progressive Era at the start of the 20th century, the executive branch actually exercises (in many instances, unconstitutionally) far more executive or even legislative power than it should these days. But my bigger point is that, quite simply, it's disingenuous to say that our president has comparably little power similarly to the queen of the UK. It's simply not true, and really, the presidency does remain the single most powerful political office in our country, and is probably more powerful than it's ever been before, unfortunately. Oh, and on topic for this thread, may I just say huzzah for the Conservative Party! They didn't exactly make huge gains, but the Labour Party got clobbered by the SNP; those changes will be very interesting to see how they affect Parliament and the political makeup of the UK. Clearly the Scottish Nationalist movement has not died, so if the UK hopes for Scotland to remain a part of it, they'll have to grant their government in Edinburgh more autonomy at the least moving forward, most likely. It'll also be interesting to see how seriously Cameron pursues the idea of leaving the EU, and, if the UK actually did, how that would affect both the UK and the EU. To any British bronies on here, whether you voted or not, God's blessings to your country now and in the future, I wish you all the best.

Well come on, we all know that Celestia's been very forgiving and pretty inclined to play nice with him. I doubt it was any of the Mane 6's idea, but Celestia, she's the one who invited the Mane 6 in Season 1 to the Gala in the hopes that they'd mess it all up! Who's to say she's not trying to do the very same thing with Discord?

Well it is still the most important annual social event in Canterlot, and in fact I bet Twilight might even be required to attend now that she's a princess. Her friends certainly wouldn't want her to go it alone, and just because they had a "bad" experience the first time (although many would argue they really ended up having a blast), that doesn't mean they'd just forego the event for the rest of their lives.

But still, your entry in our Hearth's Warming Eve Contest was so lovely that I can't help but hope you do get the opportunity to write an entry for this one. BTW, I never did hear, but did you ever get your prize from that contest?

Good afternoon, bronies and pegasisters of MLP Forums. I don't know how spring is shaping up for the rest of you, but right now here in the grand ol' state of Michigan, things are simply lovely! The sun is shining, birds are chirping their lovely songs, and new life is all around us, in more ways than one, I might add. After all, we are in the midst of a still recently-started new season of MLP, one that is shaping up so far to be rather splendid indeed. With all that said, I'd say it's high time we had a new fanfiction contest to celebrate this new season of MLP, hosted, as always, by the Poniverse Fimfiction group. Unlike our previous fanfic contests, however, this one will NOT have a holiday theme, or even a seasonal theme. No, rather, the Poniverse Spring Has Sprung Contest will have a show-centric theme, in particular, one focused on a major theme of Season 5: cutie marks! Yes, that's right, cutie marks! Below, you'll find everything that you need to know: (1) Seeing as cutie marks seem to be a major theme of MLP this season, all entries must relate to cutie marks in some manner, whether they be comedy, slice of life, romance, horror, adventure, or some other genre. It can be about somepony getting their cutie mark, the meaning of a cutie mark, the cutie mark and one's self-identity, how cutie marks may relate to romance in Equestria, the role they've played in Equestria's history or the lives of major figures like the princesses, whatever, as long as cutie marks are involved in some way, your fic will qualify for our contest. (2) Entries should be no longer than 20,000 words. We'd prefer that all entries be one-shot fics, but if the author requires multiple chapters for their fic, that's fine, so long as the fic does not exceed 20,000 words and is complete upon entry. (3) Entries cannot exceed a Teen rating. We will not accept any Mature rated fics, whether they be Gore fics, Slash fics, Clop fics, etc. That's not to say that you can't enter scary or even sensual (to a certain extent) fics, but our group has a strict policy of not accepting Mature rated fics. If any Mature rated fics are entered, we will not read or review them. (4) Fics can be submitted to the contest in the folder titled "Spring Has Sprung Contest Entries". (5) Contestants can enter no more than 1 submission of their own work (and please, do not enter any other author's work into the contest, even if you're doing it for them; if they'd like to enter the contest, they can do so themselves). (6) Entries will be accepted until May 31; after that date, we will accept no new submissions. UPDATE: Due to a large number of potential contest entrants having very busy schedules at the moment, the Spring Has Sprung Contest timeline for entering will be extended by two weeks. The new deadline for entry is now Sunday, June 14, 2015. We hope to announce the contest winners in the beginning or middle of June, although that time-slot may change depending on whatever real life demands may arise in the next month. The fics that come in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place will be featured on our Fimfiction group, MLP Forums, and the Poniverse Newsletter, along with reviews published for each one. In addition, 1st place, 2nd place, and 3rd place will all receive a free art commission by the artists Midnight Scribbler (deviantART account ID: soultrip69), Smash-N-Dash, and SFyr (deviantART account ID: SapphireFyr). The 1st place piece will be a 1-2 character full art piece with a basic background by Midnight Scribbler, and may be whatever the 1st place winner desires, whether it be cover art for a fic, or just art of an OC. The 2nd place piece will be a 1-2 character piece with a basic background by Smash-N-Dash. The third place piece will be specified at a later date once SFyr has determined the extent of what he's willing to do, but rest assured 3rd place will receive an art piece no matter what. Oh gosh, I hate that! My readers are great, but one of them kept insisting that I not kill off this character who more or less had to die simply as a plot-device. This character had barely even been in any of the fic, but this guy kept insisting that I go back, rewrite it so that he lives, and make an entire subplot that I hadn't planned where he gets redeemed and plays an important role in the larger universe. I kept saying as nicely as I could over and over again that this just wasn't a part of the plan for the fic's plot, but he just didn't listen.

Actually... I don't think you're wrong. He's basically been the show's "Prince Charming" character ever since he first got introduced (not counting Blueblood, he was a faux Prince Charming :okiedokielokie:), and that along with his quite tousled mane (quite unusual for a military pony, especially THE former Captain of the Royal Guard) both were probably intentionally chosen to make him look more masculine. Of course, his masculinity loses some of its effectiveness when one considers his obsession with corndogs. Sorry Shining, not even you can pull off that look. :comeatus: Well she certainly didn't choose him for his brains.
