  1. It sounded like a really bad California surfer dude accent, so maybe whoever did it didn't fully commit to the surfer dude accent since he wasn't really a surfer dude but rather a skier. I'll admit, it is a sort-of perplexing accent; very odd, and not exactly appealing, even if his character seems perfectly fine.
  2. Yup, gotta love any creative team that'd go out of their way to include something like that.
  3. Your Princess of Trolls desires questions; things have been far too quiet in my Ask Trolly thread for far too long. AMUSE ME!!! :3 http://mlpforums.com/topic/49944-ask-princess-trollestia/

  4. 9/10 for creativity, though some of it seems a bit stretched. Oh, thanks GA! I wasn't really ever gone, just not as active as before. I've mostly been hanging out in Canterlot Castle for whenever I host fanfic contests and Show Discussion, but yeah, I can see how some people might've thought I was absent given that I've been so inactive in so many spots. Oh, and I've also been quite busy on Fimfiction, both with the Poniverse group there and my own fanfiction.
  5. It all depends on a few things: (1) quantity of grammar errors, and (2) I hate to say this, but author notoriety. Folks are more likely to be more forgiving to better known or more popular writers when it comes to grammar errors, that's just a fact (though not entirely for bad reason; I see grammar errors in plenty of the works by more famous authors that I read, but they're also few and far between). Point is, if you're not well known, you especially have to watch out for them; folks are cautious when it comes to committing to new authors, and if they see a bunch of grammar errors in the first chapter, they're likely going to stop reading or dislike a fic. You've got to earn followers, and that means displaying sound grammar from the get go, or at least committing to doing so. Now yes, some people can be jerks about the way they critique, but most people who criticize poor grammar really are just trying to help out, and will do so more specifically most of the time if an author reaches out to them for help. So yeah, I think some people can be too nitpicky at times about grammar, but one should always strive to display exceptional grammar, and continually improve it, as much as possible always.
  6. This seems like a very "end of Season 3/start of Season 4" topic. I mean, I'm sure there's people out there in general who don't like Twilight or the fact that she's a princess, but if you're talking general worry about the whole concept of Twilight being a princess across a large portion of the fandom, I think that most of those fears or reservations had died down by the end of Season 4. I myself think it's been a very natural progression for Twilight since the end of Season 3, and I love what the writers have done with her character in general throughout the show's entire run.
  7. 8/10; super cute, and props for making the most of the simple design, but still not too much there either.
  8. Not exactly original, but 10/10 for tugging at my heart's nostalgic heartstrings.
  9. Not me, sorry. I mean, ship 'em if you want, but Derpy x Doctor Whooves/Time Turner is my favorite ship in the entire fandom, and they remain simply too adorable together not to ship!
  10. Ola, el' Capitan! Welcome to the PR team; I've no doubt you'll do great in the new role! :3

  11. Back safe at my mom's place to visit for the week; so thankful for good roads and safe travels! :)

  12. OK, welcome back everypony to another "Batbrony Reviews". This week's review should be pretty darn short, actually, just cause there's not a whole lot to say about this episode. That's not to say that "Appleoosa's Most Wanted" was a disappointing episode or anything, it was just a... an average Slice of Life episode, that's all. That's not a bad thing, no sir, every season's had its average episodes to be sure. I guess I was personally hoping for some more references to Western movies given the setting and the fact that I love that genre of film, but ah well, it was still entertaining enough and had a nice message to boot. So let's talk about the few things that stood out here. First of all, the CMC were fine on the whole. This wasn't a particularly great showing for them, there wasn't anything really notable that they did here, but they were characterized fine and entertaining as usual. Scootaloo's cactus sombrero was undeniably, epically awesome and hilarious all at once, but other than that nothing really stood out about the trio this time around. Their hearts were in the right places the whole episode for the most part, in fact everypony's hearts were; the whole conflict revolved around misunderstanding more than anything else. It's always fun seeing Applejack in the role of protective big sister (not to mention I find it incredibly amusing how she doesn't trust the CMC further than she can throw them; even if she knows their hearts are in the right place, it seems she's more aware than anypony else, with the possible exception of Rarity, just how much trouble that trio is liable to get themselves into if nopony's watching them ), and it was also good fun seeing other characters like Braeburn and Sheriff Silverstar return (I especially enjoyed the gag at the end where Braeburn kept getting hit in the noggin' by items accidentally sent flying by Troubleshoes into the crowd). Ah, that's what the CMC needed to make this episode amazing: mustaches! Speaking of Troubleshoes, let's talk about the new character. I liked Troubleshoes Clyde, I liked him a lot. Poor guy seemed incredibly depressed (I was getting a real Eeyore vibe from him, ya know, the donkey from Winnie the Pooh?), and for good reason too; after all, he seemed to think he was just a troublemaking clutz and nothing else, and all thanks to his cutie mark to boot. I've actually explored the very same thing with Derpy in my one fanfiction, so believe me, I can understand how a pony in his position would get depressed like that, and I think the writers did a good job explaining just why he's so down-in-the-dumps. Dude didn't even seem cynical, just really, really bummed, and I can't really blame him; his heart was in the right place, and he was certainly passionate about something, but he thought for most of his life that he simply couldn't be a part of what he was passionate about. So once again we got a character and the message of an episode revolving around cutie marks, and I thought that once again it worked effectively here as it has throughout Season 5. We probably won't see him again this season, or at least not before the finale, but for a one-off character, he worked really well. Also, I have to admit that I was just a little shocked to see a stallion bigger than Big Macintosh; gotta admit, I never thought I'd see the day. See what I mean, don't ya just see pony-Eeyore when you see this guy? All in all, there's not much else to say about this one. I did like getting to see Appleoosa and its townsfolk again; I think both the town and the ponies living in it have very unique designs, and that's always a pleasure to see in the show. It was also kinda funny how at home Applejack felt around all the mostly-earth ponies garbed in Western attire. But other than those final thoughts, I don't have too much to say about this one. It was an average episode, but in a good way; it had a nice message, was just as entertaining as it needed to be, and I can't really think of anything bad to say about it. I liked this one, I liked it just fine.
  13. Oh my goodness, I kept thinking the entire episode that Troubleshoes was basically a stallion version of Derpy, and look what one of my favorite pegasister artists, dennybutt, already drew! *squeeeeeeeeeeeee* It's so cute!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  14. Well then you really oughta check out my fic if you haven't! The biggest theme in it so far has been Derpy figuring out what she's supposed to do with her life since she has no idea what her cutie mark means; no pressure, everyone's busy after all, but I think you'd like it. And yes, Applejack has been most fantastic lately.
  15. I honestly don't know. The only things we've seen in the show to date that were most definitely horses were the Saddle Arabians, but we never saw if they have cutie marks. Troubleshoes did, and even though his last name's Clyde, which could be a reference to Clydesdale horses, which he also happened to look very much like, he also looked very much like a pony as a colt, so I don't know, I really don't know.

  17. Eh, just an average episode I'd say. Didn't have nearly enough references to actual Western movies like I hoped it would, but still entertaining enough. Trouble Shoes is pretty lovable, in his own sorta way, and the CMC went and did a real nice deed, but there wasn't anything that really made it stand out from others. It was pretty funny seeing Braeburn return, that's for sure. I'll have a full review up later ya'll, gotta go meet with the prof I TA for right now, but I enjoyed this episode all the same, even if it's hardly the best one we've had this season.
  18. I've been trying to figure out if he's a horse, but I think he's just a really, really, really big pony stallion. Like, even bigger than Big Mac, which I didn't think was possible, because we have seen Saddle Arabians, who are actual horses, at least I think they are.
  19. That's what I meant when I said "puberty hit her hard".
  20. Westerners, there's a difference, trust me. Though I have heard that Applejack's voice is technically an Ozarks accent, which you'd find around Arkansas, Oklahoma, or Kansas.
  21. I want that cactus-sombrero Scootaloo was wearing SO BADLY!!! Also, wow, Claire's SB voice is low. I think I sorta heard a Sweetie-squeak in there when she screamed at one point, but daggum', puberty hit her hard this season.
  22. Sorry Scootaloo, no matter how hard you try, you cannot make a barrel cutie mark sound cool. -_-
  23. As a lover of Westerns, I for one hope we get some delicious Western references this episode! The last time we got Western references were those random-as-heck references to Clint Eastwood's "Man With No Name" character in Cheese Sandwich's garb last season, and those were amazing. Should be nice also getting to see Appleloosa again, been awhile since we got to see an episode there.
