I think people are missing that both characters are at fault. Like because Goofy is older it doesn't mean that he's right. No Goofy was overbearing and similarly Max was a little brat.

That's why in the end they are doing something that Max wants to do but Goofy is a part of it. And they are enjoying each other's company. Also including introducing Goofy to Roxanne.

    Such a great film.

I mean, yeah but no. While it's true both are at fault, Goofy really is a splendid father and Max doesn't appreciate him enough.

I think if Max had been honest to his dad, things would have been different from the begining.

Well Max probably never felt he could be honest with his dad is because he is embarrassed by his dad because he's so "goofy."

Goofy doesn't understand Max's teen life which we get a peek into. Max sees himself as a loser, he has a big crush on this girl, he has some friends, etc. he has his own life that he wants to flesh out. But Goofy comes with this fishing trip that at the same time stops Max's plans to hangout with this girl he really likes and not see himself as a loser.

Goofy is as overbearing as Max is a brat. Parent and child relationships.

"I think if Max had been honest to his dad, things would have been different from the begining."

What is this even supposed to mean? Like there wouldn't be a movie if that was the case. Max isn't honest with his dad because he doesn't think his dad would understand because his dad never has and has made his life more difficult in his eyes.
