I’m able to create statuses on the mobile version but can’t on the desktop version.
It’s really strange. Like the drop down menu is gone for me

Yeah the +create menu on desktop went to space. Let's say, that currently it's bugged. For now, go to your profile and switch to activity tab - you can post statuses from there.
