I forgot where I was talking about the FIM:Manga #2 but there was one point I forgot to make as to why I preferred the first volume of the manga.
The first reasons I listed were: very wordy (like way too much dialogue), the plot was just a little too wild, incorporating just too many outside references that makes the story for unoriginal/uninspired.
But one of the biggest reasons was that we seen this before! (SPOILERS FOR FIM MANGA VOL#2 AND SUNSET'S BACKSTAGE PASS)
SpoilerMLP has a plethora of media created outside the show and eqg (books and comics, but also many different companies etc. that handle different kinds of stories and comics; in other words, there is not really anyone to direct/correct writers when they write something that has already happened before or has mishandled the canon (consistent trend in mlp). Sunset's Backstage Pass and the Manga Vol. 2 came out about 9 months apart with the former being released the first. However, the first manga volume came out a month before Backstage Pass. Within this time no one came into contact with each other to discuss that the plot that the 2nd volume would go into was the same as BSP.
BPS has Sunset repeating the same day over and over again. The 2nd Manga has Pinkie Pie repeating the same day over and over again. And sure they are very different in their own respects. But seeing the same plot within the same media is dull. The manga wasn't gonna be some top seller so they could have used it to be some serious story, like something new we haven't seen before in mlp, but instead it just became some Dr.Who meets Groundhog Day comedy fanfiction. Of course, the writing is way better than probably 99% of mlp fanfiction, but doesn't change the fact that it was still a disappointing story. Maybe people haven't seen BSP, but just because one hasn't seen other media within the franchise doesn't necessarily mean that it can't be critiqued that the same(similar) plot line happens twice within the franchise is dull.
