@MissNice picks. Ironically "The Greatest Show" from Greatest Showman has been kind of stuck in my head for the last week.

  2. Just watched Shang-Chi and it was alright. Definitely got bored waiting for something big to happen. A good portion of the CGI was boring to watch. Car commercial scenes were drawl.

Also Hotel California, awful karaoke song cuz you either have to stop the song before it's over or have wait around for the solo to finish. hehe

Glad they didn't put emphasis on romance tho between the two main characters.

Awkwafina of course does no wrong, always love her. <3 I def. think she should try to steer clear of comedic roles (she does them well of course!) and stick with more drama like how she was in "The Farewell." No shame on her for being in Shang-chi obviously! Marvel is like the biggest thing in the world. Take the fucking job :ButtercupLaugh:

While Joker isn't my personal favorite comic based film, I think it's probably the best made film in the genre. Todd Phillips did such a great job.

2019 was a good year for films overall. We also got stuff like Parasite, Once Upon A Time In Hollywood, JoJo Rabbit, The Irishman, Klaus, Doctor Sleep, etc. And of course the big winner, Fred Durst's The Fanatic (Just kidding).

Yea my fav superhero film is Unbreakable and 2nd place is Joker.

And yea incredible. Seen all the films you commented besides dr.sleep (no interest). Parasite was 1st place at the time but later moved to 2nd place (also one of my fav films too).

I actually saw the Fanatic. I love Limp Bizkit but easily one of the worst film I ever saw.

Looked like Travolta was really gunning for that Oscar (XD).

Ah makeup practice. I'm still trying to get my eye makeup right. Also I'm still on the hunt for a good foundation. :ButtercupLaugh:

      Miss

Saaaaame. I think I do everything pretty decent now. But like would love for it to be spectacular.

I think I need a slightly lighter foundation and a different color corrector.

Pretty happy with the way my makeup came out. If I was going out today I'd be satisfied except maybe not cuz the mask would probably take off some of my work XD

  5. Went to go see Dune earlier today

I thought it was pretty good.

Score, sound editing, cinematography, production and costume design were all great!

But honestly the plot wasn't the most interesting. hehe

Have yet to see Adaptation, but yeah there's Leaving Las Vegas which had a great performance from him. One film that I would recommend checking out is the extremely underrated 8mm (1999) where Cage plays a private investigator trying to find out if this video of a teenage girl being abused and killed is actually real. Deals with very dark and disturbing subject matter, but Cage really gets to show off his chops. Also the best film Joel Schumacher made (Well that or Phone Booth).

Agree to disagree a little I guess. I thought Cage's performance worked throughout the whole film (Including his "angry acting"), but I'll agree that the third act is where he truly gets to shine (Especially that silent cry moment).

The only time I've personally ever seen Cage not care at all was in Left Behind. Truly one of the worst films I've ever seen with terrible performances from everyone. At least in most of the other poor/outright terrible movies Cage has done, we get at least a few moments with him going crazy. But in Left Behind he just sleepwalks through the whole thing.

      Miss

.....you recommending me a film that has 23% on rotten tomatoes? And with Nicolas Cage? XD I think I'll pass jaja thanks tho.

I mean just because someone is going crazy doesn't mean they're acting good. They could still not be caring. Seen bad crazy acting and seen great crazy acting.

    4. Spidey10

      Spidey10

I know the film was panned by critics when it came out, but it's one of those films where I felt the majority were too harsh on it. But I get if you aren't interested. Your choice.

True. Sometimes absolute craziness is too much (Cough Cough Tommy Lee Jones in Batman Forever).

  6. Just read the whole manga of "Soul Eater Not!"

    Took about 5 hours.

And it's not good. I hate when managaka (manga writers) have this really good story idea/story but the execution is just really bad. Uggggh.

The second manga I read that has something great at it's core but alot of crap surrounding it.

Honestly, I can appreciate some of the moe and some of the queer subtext (of course it's more moe than it is subtext), but overall it's like ugggggh.

Side note: not as ecchi as original Soul Eater......for the most part.....one part in particular went really off the rails. Lots of filler in the chapters tho. Story definitely deviated alot.

I watched the last episode of the anime just to see how it might have improved on it, but nope. Actually much worse.

Oh yeah I know it's made by Makoto. I recommended it because he kept the same style (supernatual teen romance) with that film. I saw it when it came out and when it came back to theater earlier this year. I love it <3

I like Erased; it was pretty good. I mostly recommended it because of the mystery element to it.

@Spidey10actually now that I think of it. If you haven't seen Death Note, that might be up your alley.

I just always assume everyone has watched it. But yea crime mystery supernatural.

    4. Spidey10

      Spidey10

@Miss Oh yeah. Death Note sounds pretty cool.

  7. I thought the music in this short was amazing!

Sucks it can't be released as just a regular song

but glad someone remixed it to workout! Can't add it to playlist tho (stupid YouTube)

  8. Almost posted a depressing status.

    Ugggggh.

    4am thoughts.

  9. Just came back from seeing Encanto :o

    Spoiler

I loved it!!! I started balling so much during two parts in particular

but it was more like the first balling moment just had me crying throughout the rest of the film!

The music was great! But I was hoping for it to be fantastic XD

The visuals of course like every new year from disney/pixar are a step above the rest!

There were times I felt that with the high number of characters some of them were being left out or not fully fleshed out as they could have been.

Stephanie Beatriz (Maribel), goddamn Rosa Diaz, sang amazing! Loved her voice!

So far I would say Luca is still the best animated film far and the best film of the year that I have seen. Followed by Encanto or Words Bubble Up Like Soda Pop.

Heard nothing but good things about Encanto. Glad you enjoyed it.

      And yeah Luca was great.

  10. Revised my Fav anime song list! (Tho technically the entire soundtrack of "Liz and the Blue Bird" is my fav :D, maybe "Kase-san and the Morning Glories" too ) (also lots of other songs I love but can't listen to often cuz they make me cry every time XD)

(wasn't going for a european theme, it just happened at random XD)

  12. Whoa!

I binged Squid Game the last two days!

Really enjoyed it; now I'm trying to play ddakji with friends. Playing for slaps jajaja

Only big critiques I have of the show is I thought the exploding glass was stupid for the girl to be hurt like that for no reason. They wanted to have the two have their moment but for her to die that was lazy imo.

Also the VIP I thought were awful actors. Also the fact that they were like represented by being gay/bi I thought was toxic and you know, being the only queer characters. Uggggggh.

  13. Gonna be staying over my siblings place for a few days.

Gonna get some pointers on what moving out and supporting yourself is like.

Hopefully I can move out before the snow starts picking up in January.

  14. Bruh. What is it with the rock and metal community worshipping/promoting/supporting disgusting musicians and other people. Like it's one thing to be fascinated with them and explore but to actually be like "this is an intellectual" or talk about them like they have any sense and do no wrong is truly repulsive.

I'm a big metalhead and rocker but like ugggggh. Can't stand lots of the people sometimes.

  15. Watching Suite Life of Zack and Cody clips and watching Gangnam Style

Screams still being up 6am don't cha think

      Quite the combo.

  16. Found some scary vids on YT "The Mandela Catalogue"

Too scared to watch more tonight (2am)

Think Imma watch in the morning :ButtercupLaugh:

  17. I'm sure many have speculated already. But the crystals in "A New Generation" are what exactly? Why do they control the magic?

Possibly the new "Elements of Harmony" or just gems that came from the Tree of Harmony. I wonder if the Tree or "Treehouse" will even return.

I mean "Treehouse" made sense at the end of FIM cuz the School 6 were schoolage still, but like our new characters are adults with their own homes etc.

So might be a new thing or maybe they'll never mention it. Doesn't other me either way. I know every brony else wants constant callbacks and constant pandering but I wanna stay as far from G4 as possible. It makes sense to have something because they want to understand history but when it's gonna be stuff we already seen/know then it's literally boring fanservice. Finding out what happened between G4 and G5 seems cool, but again it might just be better as a mystery so no pony gets all frustrated wondering how whatever went wrong went wrong and how stupid it is etc.

Too much looking back will quickly lead to shit becoming stale.

But I'm sure at some point maybe in a later season of the show the history of the crystals and why they govern magical use in Equestria will be brought up.

The previous gens didn’t have the fanfare that G4 did. That’s why replacing it is so difficult and different to the ones before.

Yea but still doesn't make me change my mind about the other points I made.

  18. I've seen hologram performances on YT before and they're cool

but never seen like Vtuber etc. type like Hatsune Miku

    and wow that's so cool!

  19. I don't know how anyone finds that dog episode of Futurama sad when Leela is walking around looking like....

    THAT!

    XD XD XD

  20. Started going by a name change to my family. Everyone has been supportive with it except my uncle.

Definitely time to expedite moving out process.

      Congratulations, my friend! :rarity: *hugs*

  21. You know I never was a big fan of Adele. Alot of her songs were always boring to me and still are. But been hearing alot of newer songs from her and I like them.

I think I might be hopping on the Adele train :dash:

  22. da heck when no actual gay femboys in anime

    or not really.

Not that dressing in women's clothes automatically means one is gay/queer but just another example of how explicit "lgbt" romance needs to be avoided at all costs for the most part.

Glad times are changing of course cuz actual explicit positive queer relationships are coming out, (or have been for the last few years here and there) even if not in too many mainstream animes.

    But still...I'm frustrated XD

@Kyoshiyea same feelings here. There are some great examples of the changing times (Given, Bloom Into You, Kase-san) and even some outstanding ones from the past (Adolescence of Utena) but yea few and far between.

      Pastel Heart

Did someone say gay anime don't worry I gotchu fam

You just haven't been looking in the right places ;p

If you want something more mature and realistic try Aoi Hana, it's actually written by a lesbian mangaka and touches on the difficulty of actually being gay in Japan. the anime was discontinued due to low DVD sales sadly so you'd have to read the manga for the full story.

You also have Candy Boy which focuses on the romance rather than the moe side of things but it's more of a fluff piece

      For non dedicated pieces...

      Steins;Gate, while not a dedicated piece has a character I think you'll find refreshing~

Theres also a femboy in My Romantic Comedy Snaffu who has a lot of gay moments with the MC and makes him question his sexuality. It's not explicitly said that he's in love with the MC but heavily implied.

    4. Miss

      Miss

Oh no no no. I've definitely found lots of great queer pieces in anime. I've looked in the right places, but like this idea of  having to "look" is bothersome. I've posted about the great queer animes I've seen many times throughout the last couple years.

Right now, I'm talken specifically about "gay femboy"

I'm familiar with the character from Steins;Gate. I'll check that out one day. (also for other reasons)

Already seen "Sweet Blue Flowers" is good but was disappointed. Planning to read the manga however

Candy Boy......I saw the synopsis of that before. Definitely a no-no.

MRCS definitely not something I'd enjoy jaja

  24. Decided to listen to Lamb of God's "Resolution" album.

The only album I haven't heard from them (minus their burn the priest stuff)

And honestly, easily their worst album. Booooring overall.

Alot of the stuff just sounds like reused patterns etc. from their other albums I've heard.

Randy's voice kind of annoys me on this album too. Nothing, for the most part, sounds worth remembering.
