  1. I can remember pointless trivia, like that the first 45 M4 Sherman tanks had circular engine air filters that generated so much heat they could melt leather, but then I can't remember important stuff, like where I left my keys. Seems to be a fairly typical problem with a lot of people
  2. Neither of my parents are strict at all; I was slapped on maybe two occasions growing up but such a punishment was probably well-deserved on my part. That was before we moved to New Zealand, which has an Anti-Smacking Law in place which prevents much force being used by parents anyway. But largely I like to think I was a good kid anyway; I was much more scared of disappointing my parents or making them unhappy than I was of being punished.
  3. Swear constantly, procrastinate like a king, get irritated/annoyed easily and by the smallest of things, say "I'll wing it" on something I most definitely should not and compulsively refuse to spend money, then regret buying something even if I really wanted it. And to all of you who bite your nails, I have nothing against you but people biting their nails genuinely makes me squirm a bit.
  4. I'm quite opposed to the average joe owning guns, I come from the U.K. and live in New Zealand so they're regulated to within an inch of existence in both countries; I prefer to be interested in guns from an academic standpoint. I do however have a pretty intimidating butter knife. Fear me!
  5. Saying I live in New Zealand is probably self-explanatory in this respect. :okiedokielokie: I do however hope to visit the U.S. at some point, and hopefully will be able to time a trip to allow me to visit BronyCon.
  6. Well, since anyone outside of my immediate family lives halfway around the world from here, Christmas is a rather lax affair for me and my family. Especially since Christmas in New Zealand is already a laidback event nationwide, things have been pretty casual as always for me. Though timezones dictate that it's nearly Boxing Day here now
  7. I've never actually had a fortune cookie, and I've never seen someone else get one, and from what I know no-one in my family has ever gotten one. I have little idea what's actually on the paper beyond various quotes, and I have no idea at all what they actually taste like.
  8. I've heard a good many English teachers of various levels of experience say that if you can speak and spell English correctly, as far as language abilities go you're basically a god because of how many rules English makes and then the number of times it subsequently breaks them. Us island folk may have created one of the most widely spoken languages in the world, but we also created one of the most confusing and hardest to learn
  9. I'm right-handed but actually not as terrible as I imagined with my left, possibly because I'm the first male in my family for three generations to be right-handed, so I'd imagine being helped by my left-handed dad may have had a part in that.
  10. I'm 100% super-pasty white Englishman, with Scottish and Irish a few generations back and in the very far past French.Being ginger mean I don't tan either; living in the strong sunlight of New Zealand means I just burn really easily
  11. I normally just play a different game or wait it out. I do however very much enjoy occasionally roving the internet during such a downtime; I've been studying tanks (if you can call it study, reading a book at age 5) for 12 years, and I still learn new things to do with them just about whenever I do so.
  12. I'm seemingly lucky in having a strongly liberal family; they found out when I left Equestria Daily open on my PC, and neither care. My Dad makes typically cringey Dad jokes about it, and my Mum actually keeps telling me to stop instinctively hiding it when they're around. I'm more fortunate than most, which is something I'm pretty thankful for.
  13. I've never been to Washington D.C. but as a British native I have been to London, and IMO the royal feel of Canterlot fits perfectly with the better-off boroughs of London, such as Kensington.
  14. Lightning Dust? Gee, no idea really, though I've always found it funny to imagine that despite her distinctly uncaring attitude, she secretly freaks out a lot over making sure she eats healthily, and so prefers stuff like salads, fruits and vegetables.
  15. Lightning Dust? She'd probably think of me as a pathetic, intellectual wisearse. And she'd be right
  16. 1. How old are you? When did you first discover My Little Pony and what did you initially think? I'm 17, I'd known of Gen 3 MLP as my sister used to be into it, but found out about the current show from a friend at age 13, near the end of Season II. I can't remember what I initially thought of it, but I'm fairly sure it was reasonably positive. 2. The words like friendship, loyalty and honesty seem to come up often when describing the show. Do you think these values are important to the Brony community? Personally I think that these values are at least a little important for all people in general, not just Bronies. However, that said, I don't believe they're essential to the community, as much as they make for a nicer personality IMO. 3. What do you like about identifying as a Brony or being active in the Brony community? Is there anything you dislike about it? Totally fine with ID'ing as a Brony most of the time; I probably wouldn't admit it casually though, only when directly asked. I enjoy being semi-active in the community because, as much as we may not be perfect, there's a lot of awesome people in the fandom and it's very enjoyable to see fan works and talk with fellow fans of the show. The only thing I dislike about the community is that we can be a bit spiteful sometimes, but then most fandoms are, so I wouldn't think of it as too much of a problem. 4. How do you feel about the term "Brony"? As much as it has negative connotations for many people outside the fandom, both on and off the internet, I'm totally fine with it. 5. In watching Bronies: The Extremely Unexpected Adult Fans of My Little Pony, a few Brony members appeared to have "coming out" stories to their family and friends. In other words, there seemed to be this moment of revealing their Brony Fandom to others. Can you relate to this? Did you ever feel like you needed to tell other people about identifying as a Brony. If so, please describe the experience. Where you hesitant? Did people react positively or negatively? Both? Personally, I have no such tale. It sort of just leaked out over time to my parents, neither of which have any problem with it. Like I mentioned above, I normally won't tell people unless they specifically ask me, since a lot of the time it has no real effect on whatever I may be talking to them about. 6. How many hours a week do you spend engaging in the Brony Community? A ridiculously large amount is all I can say there. 7. What do you feel makes you a Brony? I enjoy the show, and love what the fandom can do with both its massive creative talent and just the general cheery attitude. 8. Who is your most and least favorite character and why? My I absolutely adore Lightning Dust, mainly because I like how she is effectively Rainbow Dash if she hadn't have met the rest of the Mane 6. That, and her loose ending in Wonderbolts Academy is a goldmine for fandom work. It's for that reason that, as much as I love her as a character, I kinda do and don't want her to return as a proper antagonist. It'd be awesome to see her again, but it'd also suck because it could tie up the loose end of what happened to her after the events of the episode, and drastically narrow what the fandom can do with her character. As for least favourite, I can't really point to any one character but I have quite the personal and totally irrational dislike of Luna. Something about her just rubs me the wrong way. 9. Lastly, is there an episode that I should absolutely watch? With my aforementioned love for Lightning Dust, I can't recommend Wonderbolts Academy enough. It really does have a great element of contrast about it, showing us the difference the rest of the Mane 6 have had on Rainbow Dash and what she could have become without them. Oh, and of course, happy birthday mate
  17. Aye, I went the other way; started with World of Tanks in 2011, moved to War Thunder in 2013, and play some occasional Armoured Warfare on the side. Though yeah, I had been interested in them for a number of years prior to any of those games coming out, they just helped to reinforce my interest.
  18. Looks like we have something in common there then! I've been obsessed since I was just a wee lad who at age 5 picked up a book on 'em; 12 years later and I don't think I will ever stop loving 'em!
  19. Tanks. Pretty much just tanks. ...Oh, as well as history and geography, beyond MLP of course
  20. Thanks for the tip-off there, I didn't realise it was so simple And that is some heavy stuff; I'm a bit of a weakling when it comes to metal really, that's probably as far as I'd go, maybe a bit further. Super-heavy death metal is just something I've never gotten into really. My other favourite genres besides power metal would have to be light industrial and light techno/electronic, and I like classical too but that's not really headbanging-worthy music. Overall yeah, I'm a bit of a weakling when it comes to music, I'm not too much into heavy and death metal, I prefer the lighter variants of them. I can tell you're probably a fan of more hardcore music than me, any other genres you enjoy besides what I've seen labelled as metalcore? (I'm bad with identifying genres, I think that Destroy Everything would fall under such a banner)
  21. I'm a big fan of Power Metal and Industrial, and as a historian-in-training Sabaton with their historical context are some of my favourites, for example Coat of Arms, which is about the Greco-Italian War and the heroics shown on the part of the Greek people. Edit: Can now embed videos, still a fool.
  22. As a fandom old hand, yeah, I do sometimes find myself about to use it, but I've never gone and actually let it slip. Yet.
  23. I'm not really one for console personally, I can't aim to save my life with a console controller.
  24. I'm on PC, never personally been much of a console gamer. I'm waiting on War Thunder, we get British tanks tonight and as a Brit myself the hype is near-infinite, just the tank in my avatar alone I am horrendously hyped for.
  25. It's not very late in New Zealand yet, only 8 P.M, but I'm camping it out tonight because my favourite game is getting an update I've been waiting nearly three years for. So yeah, I'm way too hyped to sleep
