The second Sunday of Advent, the candle represents Love. Also known as Charity, or Caritas in Latin, that is the selfless willing of good for another.

I also see some who put the candle as meaning Faith.

On a personal level, I'm bummed because I'm out of town and am going to miss my daughter sing at Mass and then at a Christmas concert and tree lighting at church this evening. I've never missed a thing like this before.
