After 190 years this bar in my neighborhood is closing (predates McSorleys as oldest bar in NYC), because the new building owner raised their rent too high. My goodness. It's featured in the movie Goodfellas and even has a New York State history marker on it.

Oh frick, that is massively sad. I really hate when stuff like this happens, when a part of history just fades away like that. If it really does end up getting replaced with something else, I do hope there will be some old photos or something to memorize the previous establishment, hanging on the walls at the new place~

That would be nice... unfortunately so many people just destroy and don't honor the past. My house was built in 1920 and has all the original hardwood floors, plaster walls and hardwood moulding. The neighbors who moved in recently tore it to studs, replaced the walls with sheetrock and put vinyl floors.
