Lightning had immediately followed Solar and Amber, and had been trapped alongside them. "The buck?" When he realized that it was Scarlett's idea, he was a bit raged to say the least. "Scarlett, you....you..... [grumble grumble]". He turned to Solar and Amber. "We should just head back. Nothing we can do now." Lightning was worried when he saw Amber drop. "Amber, what's the problem? Where'd you get hit?"

Lightning was, once again, completely ignored by Amber and Solar. Note to self: Get those two away from each other if you want them to pay even the least bit of attention. However, he heard Solar's idea, and he thought it was worth a shot. @1Bit and @Unicorncob, "Say, that isn't such a bad idea. After all, you never know if you don't try. Let's ask Scarlett."

Lightning was a bit saddened by the scene. Selene was being doomed, Solar was worried for her mother AND aunt, and 50 or so ponies were being left for dead. No one deserves to be doomed like this, he thought. But, what's done is done. We move forward, never back. "Solar, Amber, we have to go. Believe me, I don't like this at all, especially leaving one of the smartest scientists ever to die in flames. But, we don't have a choice. Now, please just follow me." He turned to the crowd. "All ponies whose names have been called, please follow me to the shuttle." He turned again to Solar and Amber. "Are you coming or not?"

"Point taken." Lightning anxiously waited for the results to come out and was relieved to see that he was chosen. But, at the same time, he felt very guilty. Guilty of leaving all the other ponies behind, to see them fly to their deaths. Stop thinking like that, soldier! You must survive, in order to honor their memory. But it just isn't right. That won't change matters though. Many ponies will still die. Ugh, fine. "Amber, look at me. I hate it as much as you do. But, regardless, many ponies will die. We must survive, or their deaths will be in vain. Now, let's go." "I'd listen to your marefriend, if I were you." Lightning turned to look at Selene. Poor thing... Maybe I can smuggle her on the shuttle?

Lightning froze when he heard that. His fate in the hands of paper slips?!?! The thought was unbearable for him. He had always controlled his own destiny, but now... Combat experience, intelligence, rank, none of that mattered anymore. His destiny was not his to determine any longer. "I guess it's the only fair way to determine who survives, huh?"

Lightning did a double-take and nearly pounced on Scarlett, but he restrained himself. There's a way to escape and she didn't care enough to tell me?!?! This just keeps getting better and better! he thought. He tapped Scarlett's shoulder and whispered, "Care to explain?" His face was stern.

"Ugh, fine, Scarlett. Besides, I don't think it'll matter much anyway." Lightning grumbled for a bit, and stood next to Scarlett. When Scarlett announced that they were to fly into a star, Lightning kept a straight face, even though he was also worried. Aww, the innocence... "As much as I hate it, Selene, Scarlett's right. This is out of our hands at this point." Lightning sighed. I've been through dangerous black ops, only to DIE in a ship out of our control. Damn it.

Ugh, he doesn't even get the point! he thought. "Yeah, and while we're at it, we make everypony and their moms start panicking. That's one helluva plan, if you ask me! And Floaty Ancient here is all anxious to tell you something you're gonna hear anyways. So, what's it gonna be, Flame? Your choice."

It's all good, man. I was never really a fan of fighting games, either. I'd just play SSBB and be crushed. I never gave up, but I stopped playing it after beating The Subspace Emissary. PM me if you wanna talk video games.- 2 comments

As he entered the gateroom, he noticed that many, if not all of the ponies on board were present, including Flame, Crystal, and the love of his life, Sapphire. He turned to Selene. "Stay back. I've no clue how everypony will react to seeing a random Vashti on board. I'll be right back." and @Mentis Soliloquy, He headed towards Sapphire and Flame. "Sapphire, Flame, a moment, please?"

(Yeah, real welcome) Lightning suddenly felt sympathy for the poor thing. She'd obviously been through a lot. That kiddie pool must have been the Stargate. Go figure. "Just calm down now. Lightning remained on top of this mysterious creature, and pushed the barrel closer to its forehead. Well, it's intelligent and it talks English. Hmm. "Uh-huh. Heard THAT one before. What. Are. You." Lightning snapped his head towards Scarlett. "It's a what now?" When Scarlett motioned to get off, Lightning refused. "Nuh-uh, not until I know what this is." When Scarlett explained, he got up and backed away, still aiming his pistol at the being. "Tuesday, confirm Scarlett's anaylsis." "Miss Scarlett is correct, sir. It is, indeed, a Vashti." Lightning stopped aiming at the Vashti, but kept the pistol in his hoof. "Okay then. Who are you and what do you want? "Selene, huh? Nice name. Now, why are you here?"

The hell? Lightning's augmentations kicked in as he instantaneously reacted to the creature running away. He immediately gave chase. Running, huh? Two can play at THAT game. He flapped his wings, giving him some more speed, and pounced on the creature. He held it down with one hoof, pointing his M6C at its head with the other. "I asked you. Who. Are. You."
