Even I am guilty of changing my name, but I always keep part of my original from now. And mention who I was in my sig. But then I meet friends I don't recognise with their way different name. And the only way I know is by the history. Although I have theories on the name changes, I continues calling certain  friends by their old name, because thats how I know them. Although it may annoy the heck out of them... :/

I started out as 'Leafy' but a week later I was 'Icy Wind.' After like, 5 months, I was Fire Twii. And I plan on keeping a similarr name for a while.

Your OC looks great and something people can't copy is the work you put into it. So you believe you are uncreative, ask for a hand, I get my best idea's from talking with my friends and usually build off what we talk about and thus far with all the similarities I have found to my OC, I have never seen anything close to my Backstory. If you want to make her more original then let her grow apart from you, you state you take a lot from your experiences but she might benefit from just being her own pony. Rather than giving her your experiences just give her, her own and maybe you would feel she is more original?

 

I have found a ton of OCs with my same talent, several with very similar cutie marks and my OC is Red and Black of which there are hundreds and the color scheme comes with a stigma. But even so this OC is mine and that's what makes him important.

 

So don't worry too much about It I'm sure tons of other people run into the same issues we do. I have only been a member here for a few weeks and I have caught myself thinking about just how many people's OCs are blue, black or gray. Mostly Blue but literally if all our OCs made up the real population of Equestria then 85% would be blue, I guarantee they would be the majority.  At least we are not blue

 

If you want I'll try to help out, it's the least I could do after the cute art you made for me. Does she have a profile I could look at? I could at least tell you what I might do with her.

I don't have the same "backstory" as anyone in the world..except maybe my siblings. Everyone's lives are so different IRL, I find it hard to believe that you can't create a backstory for an OC that isn't like someone else's. Same goes for personalities. I don't think anyone in this whole world has the exact personality that I do. So if there are so many...why should it be hard to create a new one?

I think of it in terms of people. With there being 7 billion people, you are bound to have similarities with some of them. Some may have the same talent(s) as you. Some may have the same hair color as you. Same eye color as you. Same hometown as you. Same [insert characteristic here]. Does that mean you are not original or unique? No, of course not. Same goes with OCs...sure it may have similarities to other ones, but it can still be very original.

With a huge fandom of thousands, theres definitely going to be similarities, but I do happen to find OCs that are like nearly exactly the same with only different colors and manestyle.

Nah, no one is invisible, really... Just mess up something, and you learn that real quick... Heck, you now have three comments. More than I usually get on my blog posts.

Well, it did after an entire night... O.o

Oh, don't worry, I understand. It's just that, sometimes, being original is difficult. And instead of leaving without a message, they put their pride aside and chose to comment and show their appreciation of someone's work or arrival, even if they didn't find a way to be original. It's beautiful don't you think ?

These days its how I feel. Every new work of art looks too canon, my welcoming plaza posts are now being used by a lot of people... yeah that sort of stuff, and I can't find a way to be original.
