alright, so i've heard a noise coming from my laptop today. i've heard of it before, but this time i've heard it about 50 times if i were to make a gross estimate. it's a kind of "clicking" noise, i wouldn't know how to describe it, and it's become all the more frequent since recently. what is it? could it be a HDD that's about to kick the can? it's a Dell Latitude D620, if that is of any help.

Canned air can work pretty well. Clean out the fans and vents, and if it still clicks, it could be the Click of Death D:
The clicking will usually stop when you force the HDD to do stuff, like read or write a file or something, which means it can come and go randomly.
If it sounds like this:
then you'll need a new HDD soon.
