Otherkin is very different from furry

Yeah, but here's the thing

I hated furries

I found the whole concept gross, freaky, and straight up weird

Now suddenly, I'm kinda starting to get it? Its confusing and scary, and ugh

I know the difference between Furries and Otherkin, I just felt like clarifying my thoughts on both at the same time. As for changing your feelings about furries, I used to hate and make jokes about bronies and the MLP fandom as a whole before bothering to actually learn about it myself. "Brony" was the punchline for most of my mean-spirited jokes, then I started learning more about the show and fandom and backed off, though I wasn't into MLP just yet myself, despite having watched a few episodes myself. Then I saw Lullaby for a Princess and gave the actual show another chance and I've been a fan ever since.

The point I'm trying to make is that when there's something that's considered strange in any way, shape, or form that gets very popular society tends to label it as 'bad' or 'wrong' to try to enforce conformity. I've learned the hard way that the best approach is, do your own research and then ask yourself, "Does this actually hurt anyone for the most part? Should this be considered bad or dangerous? What are the arguments on both sides and do they hold up?". Bear in mind that there will always be a dark side to everything and there will always be that guy in any group/fandom/movement, but if the bad far under-weighs the rest, then if it's something that piques your interest and the time is right, then go for it. Better than never knowing at any rate.
