  1. I apologize for spamming my status updates with depressing stuff lately.

I am glad people here are trying to cheer me up about the future of the brony community.

I will admit, I need to find something else to take my mind off this community, instead of being a depressed piece of garbage.

I just keep telling myself as well, the episodes are archived online in torrents and downloads by fellow fans and will probably never go away.

There’s no ‘probably’ about it. They will never go away. ;)

And there’s no problem at all with your posts. :coco:

Trust me, we got back ups of the back ups, and the underground guys are still working on several g4 things. G5 ain't the end of anything.

  2. Woke up at 5 AM, can't sleep, so I am checking out the forums.

Glad to know some people here feel the same way I do about the upcoming G5, and how a good number of us are kinda trying to stay with G4.

I am trying my hardest to keep an open mind about this, but I do miss the excitement of whenever a new episode came out.

I seriously feel depressed about this whole thing right now, almost feel like crying.

But I shouldn't be this obsessed over a TV show.

    :(:(:(

I’m depressed as well about not being able to see the Mane Six again. :worry: I’m trying to go in with an open mind but the premise that we have so far is making me scared. :(
I hope to my dying day that we don’t let go of these ponies...

Nothing will ever take G4 away from us. It's been released and its show completed. Hasbro can't take it back even if they wanted to. It earned its place in internet and cartoon history, and it'll have a special place in my heart forever. I imagine MLPF will be a home for it forever too. Even if we end up being super "into" G5 as a site, I expect we won't forget about our G4 roots and we'll aim to make it fun for fans of both to coexist here in the name of love for fantastical sapient equines in general. If you don't end up liking G5, perhaps it would help to think of it as a really ambitious fanfiction that you might see a lot of (think Fallout: Equestria), not particularly care for yourself, but with whose fans you'll still be able to enjoy the concept of pony with?

I've been mentally treating G5 as a continuation of G4 with a long timeskip in between. To me, that makes it emotionally feel like the excitement of a new episode or season that we know is coming. I have reason to believe that Hasbro's creative teams are putting in an A effort to build on what made G4 successful while respectfully giving closure to G4. As bittersweet as the end of official G4 content is, if there's any silver lining to it, it's that they can't ruin it either. We can see the Mane6 again any time we want by rewatching FiM or exploring everything its fandom created - and continues to create!! - until the end of time. Nothing can take them away from us.

The best possible outcome I see is that instead of having just one grand pony saga to love, we'll have two! G1-G3 notwithstanding - I'm talking about those of us who became MLP fans through G4 and didn't get hooked by the earlier generations. Add to your "grand pony sagas to love" count accordingly if you're a fan of those gens too. B)

I know what you feel, I can relate. I think I'll always prefer G4 myself, or at least I'm not planning to change that priority anytime soon. It kinda feels bad, that the G5 will be "stealing" its spotlight, so to speak, especially considering that I'm still working on G4 fan content.

If the banner has added to your concern, I'm pretty sure it may be cycling between G4 and G5 ones, or at least I'd suggest so. I don't think G4 will be swept under the rug, it plays the biggest role after all. :kindness:

  3. I am guessing DVD sales were not good for the last few seasons of MLP FiM from Shout Factory, that they just stopped at season 7?

I was kinda hoping to own seasons 8 and 9 on DVD.

I ordered seasons 6 and 7 and Friendship Games from Amazon, gotta build up more MLP DVD collection :D

I've been holding out for Blu-ray releases. I'm hoping that with how resistant they've been to releasing Blu-ray versions of the seasons, that we'll end up at least getting a G4 Complete Collection release in the format.

      I hope you are right.

The last MLP DVD that was released by them was Hearts and Hooves, and that was in January of 2019.

I don't know how far their license goes, and some of the older gen DVDs are out of print from them now.

I have been buying them to support Shout Factory and Hasbro at the same time.

Still waiting for a Definitive Series Boxset. :(

  4. I seem to keep putting off finishing FiM, because I am afraid of being sad the moment I finish it.

It is such a good cartoon, and I hate that it ended, but at the same time, glad that it is not continuously going on, like the Simpsons is right now.

You're not alone in that boat. I always kept up with the episodes as they came out and the final one was no exception. I cried during the last few minutes of the last episode but it was more tears of joy and nostalgia and gratitude than anything else. An intense emotional experience of reflecting on this ride I've been on for about ten years, to be sure, but it's an emotional experience I don't regret for a nanosecond.

I'm quite satisfied with the ending - they took care in ending the show with dignity, resolving many plotlines while also leaving various elements open-ended enough for fanon and G5 to build on. Watching it gave me a lot of closure.

Another way to look at it: fear and sadness are both negative emotions. The fear will weigh on you forever until you face the thing it's about and get to the other side. Then the fear will go away. Forever. You'll never again be afraid of the moment you finish the show once you've finished the show.

The sadness of the moment isn't a sure thing but even if you do experience it that way, it won't weigh you down forever the way that avoiding something you fear does - you will be able to cherish and rewatch FiM as many times as you want, and as much or as little of it as you want, forever. You'll be free to think and talk about the series in its entirety. And you'll be able to take personal satisfaction in finishing something you started. In having been there for the entire ride. Which puts you in a great spot to hop onto another with a clear conscience - like G5. :adorkable:

It's not so different from finishing a good book - the book won't stop being good just because you reached the end (and heh, people even get very annoyed when a book's author publishes it as they go but then abandons the project before finishing it). This video of a therapist analyzing the Pixar movie Inside Out goes into a lot of depth on how we'd actually go insane if we didn't experience the emotion of sadness - that, even if it's unpleasant, it's an emotion that's critical for finding closure and moving forward with our lives. It analyzes the other emotions, Joy, Fear, and Anger, and their value in the sentient experience as well.

I still tear up whenever I even think of the final song. :worry:

I just wish the Mane Six were able to stay together. :(

  5. I am so happy all you guys and gals here have kept the fire going for this overnight hit of a show. I honestly cannot believe how a franchise meant for little girls became this awesome multi-season cartoon that guys just happened to like, including me. All these posts have made me very happy.
  6. I have been thinking about this, ever since the G5 announcement. Will the brony fandom still exist for G4, or will people just throw it in the trash the moment we find out the new generation is palatable? I recently returned to the fandom, and I am planning on watching the remaining few seasons I have left to watch. I am mostly worried that the awesomeness of this community will disappear from the face of the earth, and I will be slightly depressed knowing how awesome my college life was when I found out about the show during its second season airing. Does anyone else have any thoughts about this?
  7. Kinda glad to know G4 is still going, in the form of the comics by IDW, I found out. :D

I'm curious - how did you hear about it? Did it have anything to do with the comics & books forum that just became more prominent on MLPF's homepage? :P

Nah, I just remembered about them, and was curious to look it up and as I saw before my eyes, more issues coming out in the next few months.

  8. I hope G4 is still kept alive, despite G5 being right around the corner.

I will be a little sad if people abandon G4 straight away.

I might be spoiled by the designs of G4 too.

    1. Splashee

      Splashee

Don't worry. G4 and Bronies will always be around. G5 will not change that, even if it is good or bad.

  9. This awesome remix of the Jungle Zone music from 8-Bit Sonic using the DKC instruments
  10. I am sorry, but I think at the moment, it does not look good. I might be too used to the G4 designs right now, so maybe if the new G5 airs and it is legit good, maybe my opinion will change. The G5 design just doesn't look right, in my opinion.
  11. Kinda watched a Season 7 episode way before I am even done Season 6, "All Bottled Up" is kind of an interesting episode, despite what some claim on YouTube.

I enjoyed the humor of it alot.

Felt weird to watch an episode out of order, but the premise seemed tempting.

    1. Splashee

      Splashee

Season 7 is so much better than the rest. Meaning, if you watch Season 7 first, you might have a hard time with season 6, or even season 8.

My opinion, but I think most people share it

  12. Sorta, but if they are too expensive and can't afford them, then I usually try to get the one edition before that or whatever the standard edition is. If I could, I would buy the Friday the 13th Deluxe Edition boxset, but it is like 160 USD, too much for me at the moment.
  13. I am so glad the internet exists for this kind of thing. Even though I will be sad when these DVDs go out of print, at least the entirety of the internet community archives these things, despite the legal implications.
  14. I am sure I have annoyed enough people with my obsession, but I wanted to show off a collection of releases that Shout! Factory has done over the years! The Power Rangers DVD is signed by both the Black and Blue rangers!
  15. I have now just ordered Escape from Catrina and the Original Series on DVD before they go out of print! I encourage people to do the same, before they disappear! I also got Japanese Transformers before it goes away as well.
  16. So, a whole bunch more pony is going out of print, looks like it is mostly the older generation DVDs from Shout Factory. Kinda makes me sad...

  17. I have played a few hours of the Project Triangle Strategy demo, and I think I might actually get that game when it comes out.

  18. I saw that Equestria Girls Magical Movie Night DVD might be going out of print according to Shout Factory's website

Replying to my own post, but I just decided to buy a copy off Amazon, before it is gone.

  19. Been playing Final Fantasy 9 on my Twitch livestreams, and I hope to finish it. FF6 was my first "FINISHED" FF game a year or two ago, and it was amazing. Other than that, playing most retro games on my EverDrive flashcarts for NES, SNES, N64, and Genesis.
  20. Great show that I sorta started buying the Shout Factory DVD sets of. I also need to pick up where I left off on the Netflix revival.
  21. I sorta have a guilty pleasure for the old cartoons made by DiC, like Mario, Sonic, Zelda, Dennis the Menace, Captain N, all that stuff. I am also a really big fan of Rick and Morty, been watching that show so much. Oh yeah, and the original PowerPuff Girls, ReBoot, Simpsons, Futurama, King of the Hill, Goof Troop, TaleSpin, and the list kinda goes on.
  22. I found out that Netflix made a whole bunch of "Happy Birthday" videos for their service and one of them is MLP: FiM themed and that is very adorable.

    ^_^

  23. Well excuuuuuuuuse me, princess!the-legend-of-zelda.original.jpg

  24. Just watched the 2017 MLP movie on Netflix for the first time, and it was actually pretty decent for a children's movie. I seem to keep finding myself coming back to this place every so few months to a few years LOL The show just keeps being interesting every time I decide to watch it again, I guess I will forever be a brony, not that there is anything wrong with that. Anyways, still been busy doing part-time work, surviving a pandemic, doing Twitch livestreams, making YouTube videos, making perler bead art, etc. Basically, I have a lot of hobbies and things to do. And thanks to my return to being a brony again, I might be doing more pony-related artwork and whatnot. Good to be back AGAIN.
  25. The PPG complete series set was made by Warner Bros., so I would assume automatically that it was good quality. This is what the disc looks like, it looks okay to me, but the moment I start playing an episode, it just stops the Blu ray player. I have also read reviews on Amazon of people having the same problem, so I dunno if it is just me. I might buy a second set, to prove I am not crazy
