      @The_Gobo Lyra is, in fanon, obsessed with humans and I think it originated with her sitting on the bench in a strange way in one episode. The way she sat was closer to that of a human's posture than a pony's.

      Now I think the hands thing just stemmed from the human obsession headcanon.
