  1. to be honest with you I'm not a nintendo fanboy, I buy the consoles, but I consume more third party content, so that means, I never played zelda, metroid or kirby. When I say play, I mean, a deep gameplay of these games, but I know what they are. The only nintendo franchise I follow without a second thought are the Smash bros series, these are my favorites games of all times

That's okey, i'm not bashing third party content in any way. I guess i'm just such fanboy. :P

Either way, if you end up picking something else from that list... I would recommend Paper Mario: Sticker Star. It's so different from all other mario games and it's humorous and funny overall.

A bit of warning though... the game can be hard to get through. I must give Nintendo a "don't give the player a single clue what to do" award for this game literally. ^^

  2. Kid Icarus is a must, that's for sure, I know ALL Mario games are good but to be honest, I've never played and beaten a Mario game in my entire life, so I'm kind of hesitant about them.

Though a MUST HAVE will be the new Luigi's Mansion, that game is a master piece. (I played the LM for gamecube)

Agree, i'm also looking forward to Luigi's Mansion 2. I'm not sure how much interest you've in the other franchises (Kirby, Metroid, Zelda, etc), We know some of those will appear this year too. About the 3DS library being a bit thin... i've to agree.

Metroid, Zelda, Kirby, etc, are not present on the 3DS (i don't count the remake as a new game) At least Pokemon will be in oktober but i hope the other ones catch up as well.

  3. I'm not sure what to recommend, Motion but if none of those games really interest you that much, i would suggest you to wait for games like Pokemon X/Y. There might be some kind of bundle with it or reduced price.

Out of the list you made, i would place Super Mario 3D Land, Kid Icarus Uprising and Paper Mario Sticker Star at the top but that's just my taste. x)

  4. I can relate slightly. While my parents aren't the problem, i've a stepfather who believe being superior, not feeling sympathy or empathy for anyone but his own daughter when problem occurs, etc.

Either way, i hope you make the best you can, Motion. While the problem may remain there, don't let it completely ruin your Christmas. Besides, you still got all of us over here if you need to leave from all family Christmas activities. :P

  5. I'll never understand these "best pony" discussions, people have favorites and a personal reason for liking a certain character. Their reasoning may not be the same as yours, you just got to deal with it and move on. In the end, the truth lies within you. One can not simply change that unless you've changed it yourself.

Then again... i've never really been that person who shows and/or defend his favorite pony, so i'm not the best person to respond here but whatever..

I'm quite sure that for some (new people) my favorite is unknown. Lately i've been hard to read. I haven't openly discussed a lot within the pony board. Apart from a few confessions a while back.

"Ohh look his avatar most represent his favorite!" Wrong, that's not always the case. Some might remember that i was under the name of Dreamwalker for quite some time too. (or the dozens of different characters i've had on my profile)

A little off topic.... (I'm sowwy)

  6. I felt the same way with my first impressions but once i got the chance to dig into the game myself, things changed. While the game is very lackluster in certain areas, it has some really good ones too compared to the other games in the series.

(I still haven't played through the entire game, i just want to point that out)

Many of us had our doubts about the sticker-oriented battle system being successful (Still has) but i think it's a good one and it might also explain some of the changes they made to the core gameplay.

The game may not have a clear character progression but the concept of progression is still there. The "No reason to fight anything because there's no experience gain" is questionable, you still have a reason to fight monsters and that's to collect more coins. With more coins, you're able to get more stickers and with more stickers you're able to get through areas easier.

While the sticker management seems tedious at first sight, it's really the best thing about the system in my opinion. In previous games it wouldn't really matter that much if you used your strongest move to defeat the simplest of enemies because you could simply restore your FP afterwards and use the same type of move again. The drawback of using certain moves just isn't there as much as in Sticker Star. Removal of partner was therefore necessary in this game.

Some will most likely disagree with me and some may not but in all, it's a unique experience. It's new and refreshing which is comparable to the other Nintendo franchises in some areas.

Even though TTYD is my favorite in the series, i don't want them to create a version 2.0 of it. It's something CoD and many other game franchises suffers from. It's better in the long term if they keep introducing new things to keep the franchise from staling.

Sticker Star might not be the ideal game for everyone, so wasn't SPM, TTYD, etc. Either way, for those of you that have doubts about the game, at least give the game a good chance.

  7. I know what you mean, i can relate...and i'm very thankful that some friends are helping me out if i need to vent and vice versa. Supporting each other and that's something this community does best, one way or another. :) Life is hard but it's definitely not worth losing, so don't fall to those feelings. Anyway,

hope you feel better soon, AC.

  8. Super Mario Kart, the amount of time i used to play that game as a child was ridiculous. Now i tend to go through some VG music (or OCremixes) from time to time just to relive the feel of those games but also play them as well, maybe not as often though.

I would say that my favorite is DD just because it introduced some new interesting concept to the series which i was quite fond of, however i haven't followed the series that much after that, so my experience with the latest ones are a bit fuzzy... x)

    --off topic---

SNES overall played one of the bigger roles in my childhood, especially games like Yoshi's island and SMB3, such nostalgia... <3
