  1. I clean stuff. When I get good and mad I furiously start cleaning my apartment from one end to the other until it's spotless. It burns up excess energy and it has a constructive side as well.
  2. My Jack O Lantern this year is a paper bag with a face scrawled on it with a Sharpie pen. Things were too crazy today to have time to carve a pumpkin, so I had to improvise. I put a flashlight inside it and it wasn't bad looking, all things considered.
  3. Han Solo and Luke Skywalker, both. Still have a crush to this day.
  4. Having a very strange Halloween. Lots of emotions swirling around in me right now. Gratitude mostly, but still trying to get my mind wrapped around it.
  5. If you mean some sort of sauce I don't really use any for breakfast sausage because I usually stack it with eggs and that's sufficient. But if I wanted to add something to the mix I guess I'd go with some kind of salsa probably.
  6. Anything my dad or anyone else in my family have done, or failed to do, in my life would be irrelevant. They are family, therefore HONOR THEM! No one is, or ever has been, perfect and to judge a person based on their accomplishments and contributions is inappropriate. I wouldn't care if I never had anything but bad advice my whole life, I'd still love my dad. It's not about what we get out of these people in our lives, and to think so would be mercenary and cold. These are human beings, and more importantly our family. They take care of us the best they can, usually learning as they go. Everyone makes mistakes; there are no universities for making a perfect parent. What matters is the love they have for us and the love we have for them. Some people show love in different ways but it doesn't mean they don't feel it. No one is perfect, ourselves included, so it would not be right to judge someone, especially if we don't know them well enough to have all the facts.
  7. A few of my past costumes include: Princess Leia Tinkerbell Yori (from Tron) Silent Hill Nurse Supergirl Miraculous Ladybug. MIraculous was last year's and, along with about half of these, was homemade. I wanted to go as Ahsoka Tano this year but ran out of time to make the costume. Considering the components I have on hand, it'll probably be something disgusting. I have an old white dress from Goodwill and a wig, both of which which I'll distress accordingly, and stretch a nylon stocking over my face with eye holes and a few smudges of makeup over it. It sounds simple but I think the effect will be okay.
  8. I've been eyeing a wedge of Bleu Cheese in my fridge for most of the evening. I think I'll give in to that temptation.
  9. I like my names. My first name, Katie, fits me just right. My middle name, Jane, is also good with me. I like my last name too, even though I sometimes have trouble signing it for some reason; something about the way the letters flow into each other. But rather than spend the $300 to change it I think I'll just save the money and change it if/when I ever get married. I'm cheap, so sue me (but not for too much!)
  10. Wow, Breezy! You have so much talent and a really mature, beautifully controlled voice! I'm super impressed!
  11. In some ways it's nice that Disney, who never does anything outside of the cliche playbook, actually diverts a little from what we've come to expect. I liked that Bellwether just kind of came out of the background and surprised the audience as the one pulling all the strings. Hans was an unexpected surprise that we expected to be the heroic love interest of Anna but ended up being a rotten, self-serving SOB. On the other hand, I completely agree that, while these new characters are textured, fresh and interesting, they're not as fun to watch as the great classic old school villains like Maleficent, Crualla DeVille, Captain Hook, Ursula and so many more. I guess what I'm saying is that there's room for different approaches to these kinds of characters, and hopefully Disney will keep a balance between the two rather than going all one way while completely forgetting the other.
  12. I absolutely LOVE Chip N Dale Rescue Rangers! I didn't catch up with these shows till I was older because I was still in a bassinet at the time they were on TV, but once I was old enough to use a VCR I watched them into the ground. I like DuckTales as well but not as much as RR. Gummi Bears sometimes flirted with greatness but ultimately fell short of my favorites list. I remember liking Bonkers okay but always felt they were just trying to make another Roger Rabbit. If they'd have actually made an official Roger Rabbit TV show, without the costly live action integration, that would have rocked my world!
  13. I always look forward to seeing a new Star Wars movie, albeit with more trepidation now considering what they did with TFA. I liked Rogue One because they didn't have any of the main characters to kill off for a meaningless dramatic beat. It was a fun story and I liked the new characters. I'm not even going to go into what I thought of TFA (it ain't good). The Last Jedi already has me feeling a little wary because of Luke's line in the teaser trailer (it may be a spoiler so I won't quote it here). It may be taken out of context but it seems to suggest that once again the filmmakers have no real grasp of the Star Wars saga, it's characters or it's history. I will go to see this movie on opening night and I will keep an open mind, but I will not have my hopes up. I desperately hope it's good, I can't live without Star Wars in my life.
  14. I'm not a huge fan of lima beans, peas or creamed corn. Trust me, I do like my veggies, just not those! Blecchh!
  15. I saw this commercial and it just destroyed me. I don't often get sentimental over advertising because it's usually so artificial, but this one got me good. I guess I just have a soft spot for plushies.
  16. I've never played an RP online. I've been tempted a few times to try it but I always chickened out. I have however played D&D extensively, just using all the lovely old books, modules, dragon dice, paper and pencils. It would be hard to pick the best moments from the years I spent in that amazing world, but I can name Tomb of Horrors as my favorite module, and the final battle with Acererak the Demi-Lich at the end. We lost most of our hirelings, most of which had their souls sucked out my the Lich, but we finally prevailed. Solving the riddle that led us deeper into the tomb was a great highlight and gave our brains a nice workout. It was very atmospheric and scary since our characters weren't up to the recommended levels of experience when we went in. There was another, later module called The Duchy of Tenh, which was a turning point for our characters and group, when we really started to understand how to broaden their personalities into something more real than mere cutout characters. My character started to pick up most of her bad habits on that adventure, and she went downhill from there, but it was an interesting ride.
  17. I adore cats! They are definitely my favorite of the two. But I do love dogs too. I had a black lab named Danny for 12 years before he passed away and he had a truly good soul. I really love and miss him. But cats, just on an impersonal level (since I've never had a cat of my own) are so irresistible. They have a natural sense of superiority, and the fact that they don't care of I pet them until they decide they want it makes me desire them even more. It's like forbidden fruit and I just gotta have it!
  18. Feeling a bit edgy lately. Not in a bad way really, I'm just overwhelmed with too much work and other things at the moment. It's nice to drop in here and relax for a few minutes, but then it's back to the grindstone. Oh well, that which does not kill us makes us...merely injured (or something like that).
  19. Being in a relationship is a good thing if you're willing to put someone else above yourself. These days more and more people are conditioned to care about themselves and what they can get out of a relationship, which cheapens the deeper aspects of what love is all about. Love isn't just a happy romp through flowery meadows in slow motion, hand in hand with the perfect image of physical perfection. It's a sacrifice to become a better person while helping the one you love do the same. When they say, 'for better or worse, richer or poorer, in sickness and in health' they mean exactly that. Love is a beautiful thing and the closest thing to paradise on earth when it's the real deal, but life on earth in any capacity is going to involve struggle and work. If you want the rewards and are ready or willing to do that work, love is grand.
  20. If being a nerd equates to being individual, learned and passionate about what you love, that's what I would call cool.
  21. My name is Katie and I think it fits me. I don't have any special reason to think so; it's like associating colors and shapes with certain intangible things. I think I look like a Katie as far as I picture that to be. It's short (that way I won't forget how to spell it, a handy feature) and it seems kind of light and breezy, and that fits me too.
  22. My favorite color is orange. It's often called the artist's color and in this case would be accurate. It's said that different colors have different effects. Purple is associated with learning, blue and green with peacefulness, white with purity and so on. I don't know if any of this is true but my color fits me perfectly.
  23. I like the Summer. I like it so hot I can feel my bones baking. I'm not a cold weather lady and anything below 60 degrees F is what I call cold. When I'm cold everything slows down; I can't think, feel, concentrate, or get comfortable. Living creatures need warmth and it doesn't feel natural to wear three layers of clothing just to survive. Many animals hibernate in the winter because it's not a time when life naturally thrives. I naturally thrive between March and September, the rest of the time I'm just mentally hibernating.
  24. When it comes to personal style, there is no such thing as weird. Individual, yes, but not weird. 'Normal' is a relative term and one that shouldn't be synonymous with ordinary or boring. If everyone dressed and acted the same there would be no style at all, just uniforms. If you love what you wear, own it and don't change just to be the same as everyone else. You don't see everyone else changing to be the same as you and that's also good because everyone is their own person. There are situations where there is little choice if you want something from someone else like a job with a paycheck, bank loan or whatever. That's just playing the game and it's temporary. When it's time to let your individuality shine, let it SHINE!
  25. I agree, it was amazing! I just saw it again on Friday and it blew me away all over again. I usually don't like it when the villains turn good in the show all the time but with Tempest it flowed more naturally and didn't stop the action to beat the audience over the head with a big speech about it. I loved the way The Storm King was defeated. That's a first! This is such a great movie, I can't wait to see it yet again!
