  1. Season 6 still has yet to produce a single episode which I avsolutely hated, and it's the first season to do so.

I've got four on my list, which is more than I usually have for a season.

Sorry to hear that. My least favourite episodes this season have been significantly better than my least favourite episodes in every other season, which is especially refreshing after how much trouble I had with seasons 4 and 5.

I have at least two, but this season has also produced some of my favorite episodes ever, so I can let those slide.

  2. Whenever this show disappoints me, I can take solace in the fact that I'll never hate an episode as much as I hate "Magical Mystery Cure."

It really should have been a two parter to flesh out... well, everything. Also, not that I dislike Twilicorn, but some rare times I feel it was a pointless change. I mean, things did come about from it, but were they substantial enough?

That sort of upgrade in legal status and responsibilities can't have been easy, so I wish the show would delve further into that. I don't think the idea lacks potential, but as is it doesn't seem to have had much of a purpose.

  3. "Dungeons & Discords" was the funniest thing, and Discord had real character development! God I love this season.

  4. I'll honestly be disappointed if the season 6 finale ISN'T a slice-of-life episode. Major threats to Equestria are so, so, SO overdone at this point.

    1. Monsoon

      Monsoon

It's probably going to be about major threats like the last few seasons

  5. "The Times They Are a Changeling" hit me like a bag of bricks. One of the season's best. Not entirely sure about its take on prejudice, though.

Yeah...It hit me in the feels pretty hard.

Thorax's story reminds me of a certain Drow Elf from Dungeons and Dragons.

  6. Note to self: playful comments seem mean spirited in text form. Always add "jk"

  7. I feel that focusing on logical consistency in this show is really doing yourself a disservice.

  8. Flash Sentry is a horsefucker.

  9. "28 Pranks Later" has so fun moments and such a solid lesson that I wish it were less predictable and redundant. Review to come.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought it was predictable I thought it was cliche as well though

  10. Am I the only one who thought that "Gauntlet of Fire" was just okay?

No you're not I also have that opinion. Some people really went crazy from Ember, I never really saw why. Its sad but I think she actually had more character development in that single episode then Spike has ever had.

    2. Thrond

      Thrond

Hmm, not sure I agree there. Thought Spike got pretty consistent development in seasons 1-4, whereas I can't see Ember as much more than a walking cliche.

  11. It's interesting how MLP is a child-oriented show where most of the main characters are adults.

  12. Still really hoping for an episode of plotless camaraderie. Like, just the mane six farting around, or holding some low-stakes competition or something. Let the show leave conflict behind and relax for once; it'd be fun.

  13. God, can I go three threads on this place without it turning into into an anti-Starlight ragefest?

  14. I'm not yet at a point where non-child-friendly visual gags in MLP episodes aren't really funny to me. Nothing will top the ecstasy pacifier in "The Saddle Row Review," but the bound Daring Do body pillow comes close.

  15. I've said it before, but my issue with the idea of show focusing on more adventuring and worldbuilding is that none of the main characters have major goals or personal attachments outside of Manehattan, Canterlot, Cloudsdale, Ponyville and the Crystal Empire. The only way to get them out of those places without stories that have nothing to do with them would be a much longer story arc, and the show just doesn't want to serialise that much.

Yea I think the comics do a great job of making her still seem powerful but not too powerful. I do agree that the show should include more of the supporting characters more often but it seems like they are going to start doing that with the new characters they are bringing in. I have faith.

      Vulcan

      I as well. owo

  16. I dunno if it's my preference for character dramas and sitcoms speaking, but I'm struggling to comprehend why so many people seem bothered by most episodes taking place in the same environments.

People love expand the world/lore of Equestria, give them Zebra homeland, im sure they will shut up...

  17. Just learned today about "Magical Mystery Cure" being intended as the MLP series finale. Somehow, that makes it EVEN WORSE, if that's even possible.

    1. Miss

      Miss

Well for you. I thought it was freaken incredible! But that would have made that episode kind of lame if that was the ending

  18. Wow, those next three MLP episodes have premises as uninteresting as this first half's premises were interesting.

The first two episodes could be fun. It's 28 Pranks Later I'm worried about, it just screams "MMDW 2: Electric Scootaloo"

    4. Thrond

      Thrond

Yeah, that one especially worries me. No clue why every RD episode has to emphasize her worst qualities. The other two just seem kinda lightweight.

  19. "Applejack's 'Day' Off" would have been to Applejack what "Flutter Brutter" was to Fluttershy if it weren't so dull. Great characterisation wasted.

  20. So it seems there's a lot of dissatisfaction with season 6 here, but I think it's the best the show's been in years. Way better than seasons 4 and 5.

  21. I know it's never gonna happen, but goddamn would I like this show to introduce some serialised elements.

  22. I should be used to this after spending so much time on Twitter, but goddamn do people here use smileys a lot.

  23. "Newbie Dash" is a not-particularly-entertaining parade of wasted potential, but I kinda have a soft spot for it that's only grown over time.

  24. I find myself mirroring the consensus a little more on season 6, but honestly I don't think it'd bother me if I weren't, because I'm enjoying this season more than I've enjoyed the show in years.

    1. Monsoon

      Monsoon

      Good for you

  25. I continue to not understand the appeal of season 5's most popular episodes, "Amending Fences" and "The Lost Treasure of Griffonstone." I mean, I don't hate "Amending Fences" (though I do hate "Griffonstone"), but I have no clue what people see in either.

And meanwhile I dig the relatively unpopular "The Hooffields and the McColts," love Glimmerdemption, and utterly adore "Party Pooped." It was kinda rough being so far outside of the consensus for so much of season 5.
