I think maybe the legacy of Equestria Girls will be Rainbow Rocks and that first season of the show, specials included, and everything else will be considered secondary. There's good stuff in Friendship Games and season 2 but even they don't come close to those high points, and the rest is various degrees of not good.
Plus, I feel fairly comfortable about preferring Starlight Glimmer to Sunset Shimmer. At least the former is a somewhat developed character rather than a mere promising blueprint, even if she's probably my least favourite character in the main cast. I do hope we get some good sketchy Starlight moments this season...

It's been a relatively safe season, but that has led to more consistent quality overall. Hoping the second half keeps it up.

Applejack and Fluttershy also appear to be immortal since neither of them have
celebrated a birthday during the series.
I would've added Rarity if she hadn't recently celebrated a birthday during an EQG Youtube short.

All of the mane six's siblings except Sweetie Belle and Apple Bloom have discussed their love life at one time or another.
Limestone Pie has suspiciously denied being jealous of Maud's boyfriend.
Spike, Marble Pie, and Zephyr Breeze have all expressed interest in someone specific.
Maud Pie, Shining Armour, and Big Macintosh are all in happy relationships.
By contrast, of the mane six, only Rarity and Twilight have expressed romantic interest in anyone.

"Student Counsel"
Entertainment: 5/10

Story: 3/10
Overall: 58/100Funny jokes and boring action mostly cancel each other out for me with this one. 8/11 episodes enjoyed this season, with the caveat that almost every episode I liked so far is among the best in the series.

I really need to stop reading these forums so much and enjoy My Little Pony in peace.
Definitely open to talking about how great this season has been, though.

@Sparklefan1234 - I'm unfortunately not quite at that point, but it's still on track to be one of my favourite seasons.
@Number62 - I'm just saying that I wouldn't think about it so much if I didn't read the forums so often. It can be a bit of a buzzkill sometimes.
I'll be like, "Wow, My Little Pony was once again very good this week! I wonder what fun observations people have!" and then it turns out not many people share my enthusiasm on here.

My Little Pony: "Going to Seed"

I had no expectations for this one. Thought it would be another predictable episode about the ponies arguing with each other. But it always zigged when I expected it to zag. I'm shocked to see people underrating it so much; if people are getting upset just because it isn't enough of a fantasy adventure, then I really don't understand that at all.

Apparently the writers for Equestria Girls were definitely going for RariJack shipping in that "Rollercoaster of Friendship" short, which bums me out because RariJack is the worst ship.

Not that many high ratings on that latest MLP episode, which is genuinely surprising to me. It's probably one of my three or four favourite episodes of the past few years. Way better than that season finale people went wild for.

It occurs to me that Applejack in Equestria Girls is probably sort of equivalent to that time when she left home because she didn't want to work on the farm. Could the human Applejack eventually dedicate herself to the farm as well?

Equestria Girls hasn't shown us a whole lot from Rainbow Dash, Twilight Sparkle, and Sunset Shimmer in their jobs. Wonder how often Twilight has to ask customers if they've tried turning a device off and on again.

All of the artists are excited about Rainbow Dash in a dress but all I care about is Rainbow Dash as a detective/hired thug in that one noir clip. The dress is nice but it just ain't right for her.
