    So season 8 is apparently gonna be "My Little Pony in the Trump Era." Gonna be interesting to see how the "keep politics out of it" people will react to that.

      @A.V. I'm using Donald Trump as a shorthand for xenophobia. Like it or not, to many people - including the My Little Pony writers - he symbolizes the recent surge in ethno-nationalism and anti-immigrant rhetoric. 

      The season 8 premiere is so obviously about xenophobia that I have a hard time believing it was written before 2016.
