  1. I was kinda excited for another season of Josh Haber's lazy story editing, especially after I felt the Lewis & Songco way overdid it last season, but the weird creativity which made season 6 appealing to me isn't rearing its head often enough this year. It's too late to find the right balance.

Oh well, at least "Horse Play" happened.

I honestly wasn't a huge fan of S7, but I will agree that Lewis and Songco were better writers/story editors than Haber, mainly because their episodes actually have a strong personal style (eccentric dialogue, stronger focus on character motivations, Nickelodeon-style wackiness), while Haber's work is much blander (largely due to inconsistent characterization and unoriginality that comes off as almost a limp parody of the show's previous works). The breed of episode NCC belongs to (which many of Haber's worst material also carries) rearing its ugly head in this season is actually even more disappointing though - when you have a co-story editor who's more of a veteran than M.A Larson and has produced quality work in the past covering Haber's back, these issues should not be cropping up to the extent that they are.

I quite liked season 6, where the complete lack of quality control allowed for what I saw as a higher-than-average number of fresh concepts. It’s still probably my favourite season since the first two. This show is frustrating.

I can see your argument in regards to season 6 - the first half particularly did feel somewhat different to the rest of the show prior, even if several episodes didn't sight right with me personally. Different strokes, I guess.
