  1. I feel like a lot of people overlook how weird a character Starlight Glimmer is compared to the rest of the My Little Pony cast. All the other main characters are flawed but generally wholesome, and then there's this sketchy former cult leader who still has a slightly off moral code. I mean, that's why I like her, at least.

I'll admit that I don't care much for Starlight, but that's because she was very sloppily integrated into the main cast. For a more biased reason, I think that there were other characters who needed attention, and she has taken the time that could've possibly been given to them. Then again, those other characters who needed attention were already getting neglected, so the show was probably screwed from the start.

Look I just want more of the mane six. I think season 8’s gimmick fixed the integration problem.

I think characters like Cadance who desperately need more development really suffer under the show’s aggressive moralism. I can imagine there are many possibilities for current main cast to interact with the massive supporting cast if only the writers would accept the possibility of not having a clear moral. And if only they didn’t need to sell new toys.

I don’t think the show would have given you the specific Celestia episodes you want even if Starlight weren’t there.
