  1. POKEMON!

Not too long ago, I completed this simple little digital painting of a Bulbasaur from the pokemon franchise. My intention is to eventually paint each and every one of the pokemon as listed in the official pokedex. I won't be starting quite yet, but hopefully soon, and that means a new pokemon will need to be drawn EVERY day (or almost every day). Currently there are 802 pokemon, without including their alola and mega evolution forms (which I also hope to include in the series, though shinies will be drawn as extras- not apart of the series itself). Wish me luck! Feedback is appreciated.

Bulbasaur is #001 in the pokedex.

  2. I'm sure this sounds pretty apparent, but I have an absolutely enormous problem with people mistreating animals. I don't just mean cats and dogs- but insects and reptiles and smaller pets as well. It's become an especially big problem lately that I despise with all of my being. Just because an animal is small and doesn't process thought in the same way we do, does NOT mean they don't experience fear and stress and pain. Likewise, I've got a huge thing against owners who, through ignorance or neglect, just don't provide their pet with what they actually need. Goldfish don't go in fish bowls. They need a minimum of 20 gallons for only one fancy, or 40 for a single-tailed goldfish, but people keep putting them in non-filtered, terrible little 5 gallon bowls. Or when people put rabbits in tiny guinea pig cages...wooh does that get me riled up.

That being said though, if anybody would appreciate some help for really any animal (I'll let you know if I don't know about the particular species) feel free to hit me up! c: I'm a really avid animal advocate and a veterinary student. That doesn't make me a professional, so keep that in mind, but I love to help!

  3. I'm really glad you've grown to like the current MLP style. I'm personally a big fan of it over previous generations, but there's definitely something charming about how chubby and stumpy the old designs were.

I hope you enjoy your time with us here. Welcome!

  4. I really enjoy the bodies you've given them- they seem to really genuinely fit their unique personalities and lifestyles. I know some people have complained about pinkie pie, but given her particular diet I really think you've chosen a good style. Being a little thick or chubby doesn't mean you can't be energetic or muscular underneath that extra fluff.

  5. You've got an awful large que going, but your work is lovely. May I please offer up my character, Tealeaf?

  6. Is this thread still active? I read some of your critiques and I enjoyed them  quite a bit. If you would I would like you to assess my first ever OC.

This thread isn't really active anymore because, unfortunately, I've been too busy to get to the remaining critique requests. I might be able to reopen eventually, but for the time being I can't really refer to it as such.

  7. Just a heads up everybody! This will probably be my last round of free artwork. I'm working on receiving clearance to take commissions here, instead, which will also contribute to the site. That being said, because I'm making some style changes and hoping to wrap this up, the remaining freebies will probably be headshots for expression practice.

  8. Gonna be a little bit behind again this round! I've been making some real big style adjustments that I'm actually very fond of. Luckily, this does mean they require lots and lots of practice!  :smug:

    It'll look somewhat like this;

  9. Ohhhh my gosh, your art style is SOOO cute! I know you have a lot to draw r/n, but if you want, when you have time, we can make an art trade! Just tell me what character you want me to draw in return. :D I'd love that.

    Anyway, here she is:

    Username: darkwingmare

Appearence: http://hoshikokin.deviantart.com/art/Meet-Wake-612640524(I'm on my phone so I hope a link to her page is okay!)

Personality: Wake is an active mare, she loves the marinelife and her profession is surf coach/teacher at a Surf Camp at the coast. When she isn't working, she loves to bring her friends and do yoga or just paddleboard her way around peaceful waters. She keeps an open mind and loves to listen whenever there is a story to be told.

Kind, extremely calm and peaceful. However, she has a hard time telling what other ponies might feel unless they express it to her. She's so relaxed that she seldom notices if anyone is upset with her, etc. It gets her in emotional trouble at times.

I hope you enjoy it! c: I'll be getting to the others shortly.

  10. How cute! Even if you don't feel they are your best work, I think they really capture a ton of potential and they're very interesting stylistically. I'll have to check out some of your other work c:

  11. I'm working on obtaining a balance in my sketch style right at this moment. I'm hoping these should be done relatively soon because I should have some free time here shortly! c: As usual, thank you all for being wonderfully patient with me.

  12. Oh, thank you! o3o And uh, I don't really have an idea for a cutie mark. This is a problem I have with like, all of my OCs. I guess just a four-leaf clover, since his name is Clover. >.>' Eheheh...

Well, why don't you put some thought into it, and hit me up sometime later?

  13. I don't mind that it isn't the most professional artwork ever. It's very unique in a way that the pony creator could never capture c: Lots of personality.
I'm a bit swamped at the moment, but what sort of cutiemark were you planning for? Maybe once I'm done with my current requests I can sketch something up for you that can serve as a sort of temporary reference.

  14. I'm personally definitely not a fan of GIMP at ALL. It's what I first used when learning how to draw digitally and I would never suggest it for anything serious. I use Paint Tool Sai, which is my personal preference, but it does come at a price. A friend of mine transitioned over to clip studio paint for a little while since she was using a Mac computer, and there isn't a sai download option for Mac computers. Of course, clip studio paint is also not free, but she very much enjoyed the program while she was using it (she has since returned to paint tool sai). She did use firealpaca for a time as well, which is what I suggest for you if you would rather not purchase a program c:

Do note that I am an artist by trade. I'm not the greatest artist, but I do have some experience and I hope this is helpful for you! <3

  15. Figured I'd keep you guys relatively updated c: I haven't gotten around to the sketches yet, but I did a vent art piece last night and am currently working on a gift for a friend of mine who's dog passed away today.
