Aww thank you for the lovely letters @Astralshy & @Props Valroa, it means a lot to me 🤍💛

Totally didn't spend almost an entire day programming stuff for the club's homepage

I just got demoted at work & minimum wage go brrr
I saw that coming, that's how things look like in Poland now.
Honestly though, I've been always heavily underpaid for the same reason, always getting a small raise only because the minimum wage went up. Lately the minimum country wage kept surpassing my salary. Now they only made it "official" by degrading me - I guess it's because there are new rules that say, that everyone on the same position should have equal salary - so they had to make it an official demotion so that I can't say they're breaking their own rules.
Can't they just get rid of me already...
-
Welp, I leveled up and became a batpone

I suddenly got sick since Monday, started with sore throat, then runny nose kicked in, and finally some cough cough. Currently struggling with all of these. I'd love an unlimited supply of hot tea at work.
Welp, time to go to sleep, earlier this time (totally not past 2am rn )
Nini!

Hmm I'm not sure what it is about, I don't get sick every year, so I'm not sure. I was never diagnosed to have any allergies either. In general I rarely get sick. I mean, occasional runny nose or some fever happens but nothing to crazy, but now... everything at once, and I think I got fever on top of that at night, couldn't sleep at all. It was a living nightmare, I managed to fall asleep at around 8AM and had to get up at 10AM.
I feel like a train wreck, I asked if I could take a day off, but they said nope, so now I'm enjoying the fun day at work lol.
I'll turn my workplace into some resident evil stuff
-
Last time I've seen the doctor was like... 12 years ago or so, and things have changed in my town during that time, I'm no longer sure where to go when feeling sick.
Yeah, they'll be to blame.
I'm still recovering, but I'm feeling much better now. At least I managed to get some good sleep this time. I think I'm past the worst.
-
Eh, looks like my monitor is on life support now, so to speak. The display is all blurry, possibly going to break altogether sometime later.
That's totally something I needed... yay for more unexpected expenses. Time to go to sleep.

@Rikifive I hope you get a good replacement
-
@Trot Shuffle Buying a monitor is always scary, you never know what kind of troubles you'll end up having (dead pixels, too much backlight bleed etc.), so yeah, I do hope I'll manage to find a good replacement, these are pricy and too fragile.

Hey, I've heard you've encountered problems with the character system - what is it?
-
Yeah saw that coming, just had a minor accident at work, thanks to OHS guys and their lack of imagination. They say and enforce one thing, I'm telling them they're wrong and that the problem is elsewhere, but they're obviously "smarter" and stubborn... I hope the pain won't turn into anything serious. Do I really need to send myself to the hospital to prove OHS is a joke, and that it's not about worker's well being / safety at all? All they care about is to buy excuses to put blame on workers to avoid taking responsibility, even if that means implementing questionable solutions.
Using common sense? Lmao there's no such thing. There's no use talking to these guys...
I don't know what to do, I feel like officially reporting this accident will only bring more problems than solve. I did talk to superior and manager about this, but... they're not sure either, as it's not up to them. That probably won't change anything anyway. What could they do, move me somewhere else? Get rid of me?
I just want to be left alone and do my own thing...
What an eventful week.

@Samurai Equine You're a samurai, right? Go teach them a lesson the hard way. And then I'll ask them why they weren't equipped well enough for it to be safe for them.
JK ;p
None of us can do anything about it I'm afraid. Years of experience is apparently nothing against random dudes who were just taught some fancy, yet bland and often poorly thought out theories from books.
-
Got it. Bring them to their knees and lob their heads off, just like in the sengoku jidai. On it.
J/K.
Well you do matter, my friend. Your experience does matter. Just know my mother was once in a similar position as you. She was in a toxic work environment where the new faces were too busy playing favorites with the boss rather than doing their jobs. My mother kept that place running smoothly with patients that were happy to be there. Know what happened when my mother finally transferred to a new department? ... It fell apart. No one knew how to do anything, and they had to bring in someone to shape things up there. They wanted to beg and plead for my mother to come back, but they knew that when you transfer departments, there is a system in place that keeps you there for a while. You can't just transfer whenever you want.
I imagine it will be the same for you. On the day you walk away, that place will fall apart and just won't be the same until they clean up their own messes. And wherever you go next will be blessed to have you; just make sure is a place where they welcome you and have genuinely good teamwork.
-
Oh yes, I can imagine that. Sounds like your mom deserves a raise, but knowing how things work... I do hope it turned out well for your mom though!
Sometimes I wonder what kind of mess it would become after I left. However, I realistically don't matter there anymore, but I'm afraid I can't talk about it, as it touches political aspects, that's been happening over here in Poland for 7 years or so.
All I can say is, that we all here suspect, that they're going to replace us with their "preferred" workforce eventually, and that's what troubles me, especially since another company consumed the one I worked for recently. They're making changes everywhere. We already had to write full instructions on what to do, with all the procedures and the like in both, Polish and Ukrainian, so yeah, it does make one wonder...
Heh, everything is against me there and it's kind of depressing. Welp, "it is what it is" best describes all of this, maybe let's leave it at that.
Either way, thanks @Samurai Equine

Meh, had a bad day at work today.

Hah, I can already say it isn't better at all. But it's all according to my expectations, so yeah, I guess I was prepared for that.
Either way, no worries, and thanks @Tacodidra

If I could, I'd help you get a new job and secure your future. For now, I'll just keep believing in you and cheering you on. I know you can bounce back from this, my friend.

Happy birthday!
I hope you're having a great one!

Had 2-week vacation and I did... Nothing. Just been on a walk few times. It flew by so quickly...
Now I'm back at work and what do I see? More and more people "quit" for *mysterious reasons*. Yeah it's totally not because of the company, that bought/consumed the one I work for... Just give it some time, they'll get rid of me too. I'll finally have some more free time then I guess
-
Thanks, I really need lots of tea to drink through this.
Yeah, but many companies are like that, especially with the "situation" happening in Poland, even less companies care about workers and it's harder to find job overall. So, best I can say is, that it is what it is. I'm not optimistic about finding a better job. Welp, we'll see where it goes.

Another reason why Epic Games sucks and why Steam is better -
My drives were like this: C: (SSD), D: (HDD), E: (HDD). I had games installed on E: for both, Steam and Epic.
I installed a new SSD, and I wanted to have it right after [ C: ], so it would be like this: C: (SSD), D: (SSD), E: (HDD), F: (HDD)
So I pushed [D:] and [E:] forward to [E:] and [F:] respectively, and assigned the new SSD to [D:].
Steam
I totally expected problems, but to my surprise, just like this it automatically noticed, that the disk with game library had its letter changed. I literally didn't have to do anything, Steam has the updated directory and the games normally continue to function as if nothing ever happened.Epic Games
It doesn't know the games are already installed and the only option I see is to install again. When I'm trying to install the game in the new directory where the game is stored, it says the directory should be empty. LMAO, it's right there! bruh open your eyes! I can't find any options to point it to new directory, so I guess I'm expected to manually uninstall all games one by one from system app page and reinstall these again, one by one. It's even funnier, because when I'm trying to run the games manually from their directories, they don't work! They either crash or throw errors, that they're unable to get Epic Account ID. What a horrible platform.Steam has convenient tools to migrate library, allows to conveniently manage multiple directories. I can move games of my choice between disks at any time. Even the music app I use has the option to migrate library - though there I manually had to point it to the new directory, it reported missing files at first, but I got it all working in just few clicks. All the playlists, song stats/settings and everything were retained.
But Epic? This platform is sooooooo budget, doesn't offer any features, interface is clunky and so slow to navigate, and now this. That's why I never buy anything there, I only have freebies they give.

This totally reminds me of what I went through when I got my current computer.
The C drive had only a small amount of space, because the F drive (not sure why it was assigned F) was way bigger and I totally planed on putting everything in there anyways. C would only be used for essential things. Seems logical, right?NOPE! You have no idea how many programs just lose their marbles when you want to put everything in any other drive besides C.
-
@Samurai Equine Perhaps D and E were already taken by other stuff like DVD-ROMs or something, and whoever was installing the other drive didn't bother remapping anything and just created the partition as it was, which received the next free letter. Personally something like this would keep triggering me.
I know, I know.
Personally I do prefer to install all software (that is not games) on the system drive, so that no matter what I do with the drives, system and the software will be always together and working, especially if it's programs I use often and have set to automatically run on startup. If the other drive would happen to be a HDD, installing some software over there could potentially slow down system startup.

How hard it is to get m.2 screws™
Friday
My new SSD arrived, so I unplugged the PC and cleaned it. To reach the SSD slot, I had to demount GPU. When I was about to install the SSD, I noticed the screws are nowhere to be found. The thing is, yeeeeeears ago I ordered a custom-built PC from a local computer store. With the PC, I got all the boxes of components that were used in the build, including spare/unused parts and screws. I've checked the motherboard's manual and it said there are two m.2 screws included - one was used to install the first SSD, and I had bunch of screws in the boxes, so I assumed these should be somewhere. I didn't know what exact screws I need to install SSD, so I didn't realize I don't have these particular ones. I learned I'm missing them after taking a closer look at the SSD slot.Since I had everything unplugged and GPU demounted, I didn't want to put it all back together just to demount everything again in few days, so I decided to leave it like this and be PC-less until I get the screws.
And I embarked on an epic journey.
Been walking all over the place in my city to find these with no luck. I visited a local electromarket, but they didn't have any of this. I wanted to go to the computer local store I ordered the PC in, but it was too late, it was locked. I started Googling for local computer stores / repair services and the like, been going to these addresses just to find, that either the store is also locked, or that the info is no longer relevant and there's nothing on these addresses.Saturday
Weekend came and RIP, stores closed. Been Googling more in hopes I might find something, but all I found was a guy offering computer services in my area, so I contacted him and managed to get reply - he had such screws, but not in the size I need, so rip.
Sunday
There was no hope I could achieve anything on Sunday, so I just waited.
Monday
Woohoo stores open, I went to local computer store I got my PC from and they had the screws, but again, not in the size I need. The guy said he should have these at home and said to come back tomorrow.Tuesday
I went to that local computer store again and WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO I finally got the screws! This is mind-blowing. They're selling SSD's all over the place, yet the screws needed to mount them are stuff from legends. Such a tiny thing caused so many problems and required tons of effort and time...
