The left side are directions on how to use and install the record if alian life dont know how to use it. The recording explains all the many different cultures of earth and its languages.

But the problem with the record is that, if an alien civilization does finds it, they will most likely not understand what's on the record.

How they understand the universe may not be the same as how we understand it. Also, they probably won't have a record player, so the record, although pretty to look at, would be completely useless. It's like receiving a floppy disk when you have a modern computer; you won't have a way to see what's on the floppy disk.
