  1. @genessee Ametrine shook her head and nudged a piece of tinder that had rolled off the pile. "I don't think you'll ever have enough to repay me. Believe me when I say it would have been so much easier to nick what you had and left your body to the mole rats. Kindness and generosity don't earn you a whole lot of respect out in the wasteland, not as much as it should." She picked up her sledge, looking over the head. There were plenty of signs of use, plenty of signs that it had taken more than a few lives. "I guess the question becomes why I make exceptions, especially with you. To be honest, maybe I've had my fill cruelty."
  2. @Randimaxis Well, this was slowly becoming awkward. Carnelian could hear the conversation on the side, but Vylia had it handled, there was no need to interject. She couldn't tell whether or not she was being challenged, or what. Most peculiar, but she would not be undone. This one's willpower was intriguing, and she was interested to poke and prod it, test its perimeters, assess its borders, and pick at the tiny threads fraying in the cracks. To do all that, however, she would have to end this maneuver. "Am I that fascinating, Mister Luther?" she asked coyly. She flipped a hoof through her mane, the freely-flowing curls of the trailing end sparkling in the candle light. "I'm far from offended. I was quite the curiosity when I first set hoof in Canterlot, more than a few stallions were afraid to touch me for fear that I would shatter." Carnelian giggled as she took another bite of her meal, chewing it thoroughly before washing it down with a sip of cider. "I assure you, I am made of much sturdier material."
  3. @genessee The mare watched as the diamond dog left, hefting her saddlebags and super sledge down. She brushed the kindling into a pile, as best she could, and huffed. Probably wouldn't have to worry about the roof catching on fire. It'd survived this long, a small campfire wasn't going to change anything. "So," she began, addressing Lance. "How was your first day?"
  4. Been in a haze the past couple days.  Common cold hit me hard.  The worst is over now, though.  Hopefully I'll have the energy to do stuff.

Oh, man, the cold sucks. I feel you. :(

  5. So I looked up Xfinity, and it seems that it's at least true with them that Disney XD is unavailable on economy cable packages while Cartoon Network is. That could certainly be an issue, but my original point that pre-teen kids, the demographic that makes up the majority of CN's viewer base, don't care about story telling still stands. They only care if a show can hold their attention long enough that they forget to change the channel. It's why Spongebob, TTG, and PPG have stayed on the air as long as they have.
  6. Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different outcome. Harvey Weinstein wasn't insane, just a sexual predator.
  7. You might need to explain that, since I'm unaware as to whether or not Disney XD (I think that's the channel it's airing on?) is less accessible.
  8. Well, when you said that, I was inclined to question myself. After all, Ducktales was getting rave reviews left and right, people calling it a great show. You might be on to something! And then I looked at the viewership ratings. Looking on Wikipedia, out of the 6 episodes which have aired so far, the average viewership of each episode was around 357k viewers, with a range of 280k to 410k viewers. Not too shaby! Now let's take a look at TTG, and...oh my. There are too many episodes for me to go about and get an average in a timely manner, but it's a rare occasion that viewership drops below one million viewers, sometimes even climbing past two million! The lowest recorded viewership rating stands at a mere 870k viewers. That is more than twice Ducktales' highest viewership rating. Admittedly, there are a number of variables I may not be taking into account here, but it doesn't look like pre-teen kids really give a rip about good story-telling.
  9. Most corporate heads can be greedy assholes, but they're not insane. If a thing they're doing isn't making them as much money as they wanted, they're not going to waste the time and money investigating where they went wrong and try and prepare a reboot, especially after the previous thing they were doing was such a huge flop. No, they're going to choose the path with the least amount of risk and invest in a show that they KNOW will make them money. So yes, the answer IS money, but I think you're a touch too optimistic if you think a PPG reboot that caters more to the sensibilities of an adult generation will make CN as much or more money than what they have now.
  10. I actually do question why CN would reboot PPG. I can't find any information anywhere as to whether or not the show is making the network money either through viewership or toy sales, but what is painfully obvious is that the current corporate heads care about money and nothing else. So long as a show is making them money, they couldn't care less if it's a vapid, lobotomized abortion of a reboot like PPG 2016 or TTG. Unfortunately, I don't think this show is going anywhere anytime soon, not while Cartoon Network is raking in the dosh from toy sales.
  11. If the way he reacted to learning that he was worshipped as a hero in the Crystal Empire is any indication, then having a bounty on his head would probably inflate his ego. He wouldn't need to ask the other Mane 6 to protect him, but he would still belittle them and treat them like disposable body guards while he continued to inflate his ego by making public appearances.
  12. I've always wanted to do an action-adventure sort of story, revolving around my OC's, Proud Ametrine's, struggle against her evil mother's plans as well as come to terms with her own morality. The main problem, however, is I don't really have a contiguous story in mind, and the antagonist, Carnelian Clout, is a lot more developed, and dare I say even more sympathetic, than Ametrine.
  13. Earlier today, developer Fatshark hosted a livestream featuring a short trailer, several minutes of pre-alpha gameplay, and a QnA discussion announcing and hyping up the sequel to 2015's Warhammer: End Times - Vermintide. Combining the four-player coop PvE linear-narrative gameplay of Left 4 Dead with the incredibly deep Warhammer universe, it got off to a rocky start by launching in an incomplete and buggy state. However, after multiple patches and the dedicated support of the developers, it soon came to be the best Warhammer game since Dawn of War II. Since the gameplay is very bloody and visceral, I'll direct you to youtube to search for the full livestream as well as the announcement trailer. I won't risk a ban for posting NSFW content For those who don't have the time to watch either, here's the general run down of the new additions: Vermintide II will no longer be associated with the Warhammer: End Times canon. For whatever reason this might be, I'm sure a lot of fans of Warhammer will rejoice at this news, because it's nearly unanimous that the End Times was a s*** salad of horrible decisions (until Age of Sigmarines came along...) and that Vermintide is the only good thing that came out of it. All five heroes (Bardin, Markus, Victor, Sienna, and Kerillian) make a comeback, but each hero now has three "career" paths, each with their own playstyle. For example, Bardin has a choice between being a Ranger, a Slayer, and an Ironbreaker. Other announced careers include Victor as a Bounty Hunter, Markus as a Knight, and Kerillian as a Shade (Which doesn't make much sense seeing as she's a wood elf and the Shades are dark elves...one idea I heard was that it might be that the different career paths exist as their own alternate universes, therefore allowing this to happen. I personally don't know, and trying to think deeply on it makes my head hurt, so I'll just wait for more info on that.). A new "Heroic Deeds" system which creates consumable "quests" that alter enemy composition, level settings, weapon use, and mission objectives. An improved loot system. In the original Vermintide, the possible loot you got at the end of a mission was randomly generated. In the sequel, you'll now specifically earn loot for whichever character and career you are playing on. Talent trees for each character and career, creating more of an RPG experience. New enemies! While the skaven will of course be present, and it's been confirmed that they'll be touting new specials in the form of stormfiends, it's also been confirmed that the skaven's have forged an alliance with none other than Chaos! That's right, Chaos-worshiping Norscans will feature as an enemy fighting alongside their skaven "allies"! New enemies from Chaos include the aforementioned Norscan marauders, elite Chaos Warriors (Or possibly Chosen, but I wouldn't consider myself an expert in that regard), Chaos Spawn, and Chaos Trolls. Finally, the one thing that got me the most excited MOD SUPPORT! Custom maps, custom skins, you name it, someone will make it! Anyone else as hyped as I am about this game?
  14. Not sure whether to be deflated because of my depressingly average test score, or elated because VERMINTIDE II WAS JUST ANNOUNCED OMFG HYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYPEEEEE

  18. @Randimaxis Carnelian's smile crept up the sides of her face, her immaculate teeth sparkling in the candle light. This colt was just a TREAT! She absolutely loved ambitious colts; just point them in the right direction and their own headstrong momentum would do the rest. She'd have her eye on him. And then the viper bore its fangs. Carnelian maintained her composure with nary a twitch, though Low's skin was considerably thinner. His eyes went wide and his mouth fell slightly ajar as he looked from his mistress to Oglevy. What was he suggesting? That he was her son? Well of course it couldn't be, she was-wait, what if he wasn't saying that? What if he was suggesting... Did he know? The viscountess kept her disappointment from showing as she prepared a deflection. She would lecture at him later tonight about wearing his emotions on his sleeve. She had a feeling it would be just as fruitless as every other time she had given that lecture. "Oh it's quite alright, Mrs. Vylia," she chimed, waving a limp hoof and displaying a disarming smile. "Foals say the darndest things, don't they?" She paused for a moment to allow the chuckles of agreement to die down before she turned her eyes to the offender. "You would be correct, Master Oglevy. Mister Key is a ward, his parents entrusted him under my tutelage so that he would learn the ways of courtly life. Especially considering Stalliongrad's proximity to the Crystal Empire, I was an excellent choice in the matter. Wouldn't you agree, Mister Key?" "Yes, yes I would," Low piped up, a flush filling his cheeks at having been put on the spot. With that dealt with, both guests finally began on their meal. Low was quick to compliment, a lesson that had taken no time at all to drum into his head. "This meal is exquisite! My compliments to your chef, Mister and Missus Blackwater." Carnelian, however, ate in silence. Her eyes flitted up from her meal, immediately locking with the Blackwater patriarch's. She could feel the weight and strength behind that look, and she countered with her own, a subtle display of dominance. Who would look away first? Who would break the tension? It wouldn't be the viscountess. She had played this game many times, and despite his imposing size, she had no reason to feign sycophancy in his presence. She accepted that he would never acknowledge openly just how much he and his family needed her, but there were plenty other ways to demonstrate your subservience.
  19. While the budget of the movie isn't explicitly known, it's assumed that it was somewhere between $5 and $8 mil USD. As of now, the film has grossed ~$15 mil USD worldwide. On top of all that, it's pretty clear from the lack of advertising of the movie that Hasbro wanted the REAL money made from the movie to come from toy sales. I don't think Hasbro, Lionsgate, or DHX is crying over me choosing to watch the leak instead of supporting the official release.
  20. I disagree. It would have sent the wrong message. I feel that it was much better for her to keep her scars because it reflected how she had accepted her past mistakes and moved on. If Twilight had fixed her horn, not only would it have cheapened the sheer amount of desperation that Tempest had for growing her horn back, but it would have linked her evil nature to her scars, effectively saying "Being disabled made her evil".
  21. Making this blog entry to keep track of all the OCs I use for RPing since I can only have so many links in my sig xP Carnelian Clout - A multi-billionaire viscountess from the Crystal Empire. Ask her anything! Succulent Scent - An indomitably positive crystal pony perfumier! Soft Zoisite - Carnelian's estranged, hemophiliac, autistic savant of a son. Ask him anything! Proud Ametrine - Carnelian's estranged daughter with anger issues. Low Key - A young unicorn noble living with Carnelian Clout as her ward (and paramour). Bronze Bulwark - A cocky, flightless pegasus with a complete immunity to magic. Ophelia & Dahlia - Fraternal psychic twins with complementary talents
  22. I have a few ideas, and I think the problem may have been that I was purposefully throwing my muses in repetitive situations. I'm sure that this thread will change things up enough to make them interesting. Also, I finally made a page for the OCs I plan to introduce: Admittedly, I'm a little miffed that the coding is broken and I have no idea how to fix it, but it's late and I don't have the patience to figure it out Questions are welcome, though!
  23. Except where in the movie does it show him being corporate or fascist? I know I'm being a stickler here, but ffs, it's like EVERY powerful villain is a corporate fascist overlord to these people...
  24. Reading through the rotten professional reviews, the one thing that seems to be consistent among all of them is "Eww, ponies". They mention a storyline that's hard to follow (which I call BS on) and unnecessary songs that serve no purpose but to pad out the running time (which is again BS because the story continues to progress for the duration of the song rather than "the story must stop because it's time to sing a little ditty that will have no effect on the plot!"). I took special umbrage with Katie Walsh's (Los Angeles Times) review when she called the Storm King a "corporate fascist overlord".
