  1. Wait, I found some clips of Season 4 and it does seem like the show does have a proper dub...it airs on a different channel than the other one I saw though.

They even changed the theme song! It's still the proper MLP theme however they're using the instrumental to the extended theme song, and there's a random clip from the Crystal Empire at the end. It's...strange.

I can understand them using an instrumental because they don't want to have to deal with getting rid of the original voice, and I like the idea of adding new stuff to the intro to show the show progressing over time, but throwing in a random clip of the Crystal Empire is... Odd. If they had to fill those extra seconds of singing, just play a quick few second montage of moments from the show.

That clip shouldn't really be there as all it does is mess up the title sequence. I'll admit that the singer's voice is catchy although that's coming from someone who doesn't know the language of Vietnam.

I'll just quote what I said a minute ago.

Oh no, I live in America so I watch the regular dub but I feel bad for the Vietnamese kids and fans who have to deal with it  :sunny:

Yeah... A moment of silence for our Brony Vietnamese comrades.

  2. I think Fhaolan has got you covered regarding bronies in Vietnam, but as for the movie airing over there in your country, does the show air there? If it does then I think the movie has got a chance. If not then Hasbro is most likely to still air it there because of wanting as much coverage as possible.

I'm not sure if this is accurate or not but he did use some of the show's assets when it comes to animation and poses. Hasbro itself doesn't deal with cease and desist orders but their lawyers certainly do.

Just wanna say, the lawyers are part of Hasbro, so it is technically Hasbro doing it.

The show does air, but it doesn't even have a proper dub. I googled it and I found some clips of it. They use a voice over actor instead of the characters getting their individual voices. You can still hear the English too! It's...not very good. They're still on Season 3 since the show just started airing in 2015.

I feel bad for you... Like, REALLY bad for you.

Talk about cutting corners yet that is ridiculous.

I guess the smaller countries get less attention or something, MLP's most popular with the American crowd.

  3. The prequel was hated by diehards and general audiences alike.

Fair enough. To be honest I think Star Wars wasn't the best example to use there. Looking at the seventh movie it actually got a lot of praise from fans and critics/general audiences. If anything these manchildren are in the minority... But I don't blame you, I can't really think of many movies that were slagged off by fans but loved by the general audience.

  4. What I mean is that Hasbro doesn't care what the Bronies will think of the film. If you want to trash it like the Star Wars manchildren did to the Force Awakens then whatever, but they care more about what people will think of it as a film by itself.

I don't think they don't care, It's more they have way bigger things to focus on. And look, if fans are disappointed by a movie which is part of a series that left a big legacy, they have every right to be mad about it. George Lucas tampered with the original movies, and the prequels came out horrible. I don't know about 7 because I haven't seen it yet, but still...

  5. MLP is their intellectual property and they are allowed to protect that. Granted, most of the time they just let it slide and allow the fandom to create their content without intimidation, but then their legal team steps in and blocks certain videos over on YouTube.

Yeah, and then there's things that are just unfair like the removal of most of JanAnimations MLP videos.

The Brony opinion does not matter. The only thing that matters is the critics' opinion, as this is a film for the general audience and not a pander-fest to the fandom.

The Brony opinion doesn't matter? Bronies are half the reason the show is even very well known nowadays, of course the Brony opinion matters. Of course, It's not only Bronies that'll be watching, It'll also be the little girls and the critics looking for new movies to review when it comes out. I never said the movie was a panderfest, if anything I hate that term. There's no harm in having a few nods to the show in there, that's not pandering, It's called fan service. One thing Hasbro has always been good at since the Brony fandom started is being able to satisfy the Bronies, while still being easy to get into for newcomers, they know they have to do well on that, because that means potential new Bronies will join the fandom if they like the show, or if not, they'll at least speak positively about it, and Hasbro gets word of mouth which means success. Not to mention there are brony critics out there in places like YouTube, they may not be as popular as say, the Nostalgia Critic, but they get the job done, though mind you you probably won't find brony critics in places like IMDB or Metacritic. My point is, there needs to be a balance between fan service and accessibility for people new to the fandom.

Viet Nam, a small country with non-existence fanbase. No chances. :twi:

Unfortunately, the fanbase doesnt exist, i havent seen any kids possess any pony-related merchandise and there is zero Vietnamese Youtuber react or review or anything (even me, because i dont want them call me gay  :please: ). Not enough people care about the show to make our distributors care...   :adorkable:

Twilight got wings in the cover so it required people at least watch 4+ seasons, but not enough people to know or care so... no chance for me.

Waiting for DVD, and be spoiled :orly:

GOD, NO!!! I hate dub in any media.

What's going on here, I don't see half the quote's you mentioned anywhere in this thread...

  6. With the sing-a-longs, the lyrics appear below the song so you don't need to memorize them. The only drawback Friendship Games and Legend of Everfree have is that they only have sing-a-longs for half of the songs instead of doing it for all six which would be so much better. Bonus games would be something fun and interactive that can be played on the DVD.

I guess, but still, people have probably made videos like that before.

  7. I'm sure the DVD for the movie will include audio commentary, deleted scenes, bonus games, stuff that requires a PC, concept art, sing-a-longs, blooper reel, and anything else that would suffice.

Audio Commentary and Deleted Scenes sound nice, not sure what you mean by bonus games. God no, not stuff that requires a PC to access, I hate pointless locking away of content! Concept art is cool as well as blooper reels, but sing-a-longs would be a little redundant though, lyrics are easily found online

  8. When old writers leave and new ones come in, the newer writers have to live up to incredible expectations placed upon them by fans who often take the show too seriously. I feel that they shouldn't be judged before they even write their first episode and should be given at least one freebie before they have to take their craft to an acceptable level.

In the Legend of Everfree DVD, they included the blooper reel, three sing-a-long songs and the director's commentary. I'm expecting way more than this for the MLP movie.

    Yeah, It's something all right.

Eh, don't get your hopes up.

  9. That's why I say we should have faith in them. They've done an excellent job over the years with the show and I'm sure they will use their best writers to bring this movie to life. Speaking of the movie, I'm hoping for the standard special features that are often included in DVDs.

Yeah, you say that but plenty of people have already been harsh on the writing team for Seasons 5 & 6, who says they'll be any less critical of it here?

I'm unaware of any special features, I watch the show and movies on Netflix. Anything particularly interesting on those DVD's?

  10. They can but it I'm afraid that it would only be a quick glimpse limited by time. I think it's good opportunity to explain and expand Equestria's history especially on the Royal sisters and a spinoff based on that may fill in some mysterious details like Starswirl and such. It may not be long but a "prequel sorts-of-thing" show might help establish things for FiM later.

Actually, that's something I hope the movie will explore, Twilight DOES still have access to the book of the Royal Sisters, she can probably read up on the history, which transitions into a flashback. Not something necessary for a whole series, but if the movie doesn't cover it, maybe so.

Either the rise of Sombra, showcasing everything from who he was before the evil creature he became till the point of his defeat or of the Princesses, showing Luna's change and attempt to overthrow her sister as nightmare moon.

Luna's changes sound more interesting to show, Sombra on the other hand... Eh, there's not enough to him to make an entire series based off his character.

Diamond Dogs! I think you could get 20-minutes entertainment out of watching them trying to pull off jewelry heists. Or you could just make a movie out of Metal Gear Solid 5 where everyone is an animated dog...

Oh yeah, that would be pretty neat.

Definitely a CMC spin-off series, they need more episodes focusing on their development, and it'd be great if they started traveling through Equestria solving friendship problems. It'd be the perfect excuse for more secondary characters and new locations.

A mini-series about the ponies of Starlight's village.

"The Grrrreat and Powerful Trrrixie's humble but heroic redemption tour with Starlight Glimmer and their wacky misadventures and shenanigans!". Yes, it's a working title  :awuh:

An adventure series about Doctor Hooves, Derpy and Daring Do.

    Sounds awesome.

Eh, are those ponies really developed enough for a series?

    Yus...

    And yus...

Going with my original statement of having any spin off serious be dedicated to any and all of the background and side characters (and having a lot of time to kill at the moment) I wrote up a quick episode list of something i would like to see if there were a type of spin off series created in just such a way. I only listed 10 ideas (Episodes) since people can easily add their own to fill out a normal 26 episode season. So this is just my mock up of what I personally would like to see (I also added a couple ideas from requests I see from members here that I really think would be fun) Episodes would be a nice mix of slice of life, comedy and adventure.. a little something for everybody.

My Little Pony: Tails Of Equestria   (I'm so creative.. lulz)

EP #1 - Big Mac's Day Off = Big Macintosh has an entire day off all to himself.. however he quickly learns that every-pony else has plans for him as well... what's a stallion to do for a little peace and quiet?

EP #2 - Stage Fight = A new magician is on the scene, and the great and powerful Trixie may not be as powerful as she thinks she is. In face she may not be great and powerful at all! Can she defeat her new rival and the mirror image it puts before her?

EP #3 - Griffons of a Feather = Gilda is trying to get Griffonstone to embrace friendship and rebuild their empire. Can the hyper optimistic Gabby help her in this endeavor? Or will her enthusiasm destroy everything Gilda has built so far?

EP #4 - The First Rule of Nerd Club = Several of Shining Armor's old friends come to visit, hoping to rekindle their friends love of gaming and geeky pursuits in general.... but is Shining Armor through with that part of his life?

EP #5 - Trial by Magic = Starlight Glimmer faces ghosts from her past now all too real, and must accept her role in their creation and face the consequences of her actions. Can she convince her demons that she truly is a changed Pony?

EP #6 - Wendigos = Double Diamond, Party Favor, Nightglider and Sugar Belle discover that even in a village of friends, disputes can happen. Can they stop the return of creatures who thrive on disharmony despite their own disagreements?

EP #7 - A Day To Remember =  Celestia and Luna are the Princesses of Equestria, but their daily tasks threaten to overwhelm them at times. Can a necessary vacation save their sanity? And will they discover that even 1000 year old alicorns can still learn something new about each other, as well as themselves?

EP #8 - Where the Wild Things Are = Zecora is used to strange and powerful magic.. but when a strange little imp appears out of nowhere with a desperate summons, she discovers some things are better left unexplored.

EP #9 - Goldenhooves = Agent Sweetie Drops is called into action! And Lyra is along for the unwilling & unforgettable ride. Can these two best friends but unlikely partners find the alicorn amulet before it falls into the wrong hands?

EP# 10 - Elements of Harmony = Octavia and DJ-Pon3 share a love of music, but are complete opposites in everything else. Can their love of music save their friendship, when everything else threatens to rip it apart?

So yeah, just some simple ideas I think would make for fun 22 minutes episodes. The Mane 6 could even appear as background characters in some of them to really unite the two series... that would give the overall two series that whole "Meanwhile" feeling. I actually did write up a couple of others, but thought it would be more interesting to let others continue adding their own ideas.

Nice, those are all really cool, creative ideas.

How about Pinkie's sisters? They each have their own stories to tell that are sure to be interesting, and that they would naturally clash with one another because of their respective attitudes.

Yeah, I can see some good comedy coming out of that.

you already know, silento, it was hinted at before ages ago.

    when it happens, stick around.

  11. Generations two and three weren't really good and three point five was the most heinous thing ever conceived regarding MLP, but generation one does have nostalgia despite not being the most engaging cartoon out there.

Anyway, it's fair to have concerns regarding the MLP movie since there is still much about it that is shrouded in secrecy.

Yeah, there is a sense of panic about all this...

  12. When I was young, I used to buy the generation one toys. I still have some of those stored away in a box inside of the shed because I didn't want to part with them. Compared to what they release today, the old toys are so much better and have a real nostalgia feel.

I feel ya, it wasn't from my time, but I think G1 is the best thing to come out of the franchise, is that strange? Though the Prime show is a close second.
