  1. Some of the dragons are annoying, it's a fun episode though. This is one of the first episodes in the series (come to think of it I think it's the first) that gives us a look at the world outside of Equestria. That makes it an important stepping stone in the grand scheme of things, because eventually the writers engaged in more of this kind of worldbuilding.

The moral of the episode is a strong one. Spike's found family influences him and it doesn't really matter if dragons tend to be more prideful, abrasive, or downright obnoxious at times. Just because there are bad apples doesn't mean that every other dragon is going to be the same way.

  2. I'm into a coworker but I'd rather not pursue anything at the moment. Two other coworkers tried dating and didn't behave professionally in the workplace. It created too much drama. Scandalous and downright ridiculous drama. Maybe once the gossip dies down.

  3. This is a fun one to revisit with the whole time travel/paradox premise. However, I do wish Starlight had played a role in some more episodes during season 5, not counting cameos. Her journey from cult-leader villain with emotional baggage to repentance feels rushed. At least we get some more context later.

  4. Aviators is my favorite indie musician. He was big in the fandom's music scene for a few years. Some of his early albums were almost entirely focused on MLP and several others had multiple MLP-inspired tracks. Now, most of his music is inspired by games, movies, stuff like that. He just moved on as his songwriting evolved.

His latest track Stay Dead is inspired by The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.

  5. Lowercase is about as weird as it gets. The name is strange and the music is even stranger. Minimalistic sounds are amplified and distorted. A guy named Steve Roden once recorded a lowercase album called Forms of Paper. The only instrument is... paper. Roden made various noises with paper, recorded them, and used various distortion effects to make them unrecognizable.

Despite really liking the genre I've never liked the term "shoegaze". Like what does that even mean? "Shoegaze" it sounds like some sort of shoe polishing liquid not a genre of music.

The name comes from guitarists constantly looking down ("gazing") at their effects pedals while they play. Still a bizarre name, though

  6. I got hooked on anime several years ago. My favorite at the moment is Re:Zero, followed by Nichijou and Hunter x Hunter. My taste in anime is pretty broad so I don't really prefer any specific genre. At this point I watch more anime than live action TV or western animation.

I'm a pretty big fan of anime. I got back into it early last year, after about a decade. Some of my personal favourites are Black Lagoon, Higurashi: When They Cry and Azumanga Daioh. :)

    Azumanga Daioh deserves more love!

  7. 24. I had heard nothing but good things about it but never got around to watching it until a couple months ago. Jack Bauer (played by Kiefer Sutherland) is now the ultimate action hero in my book.

    Spoiler

Well, "hero" might be stretching it at times because Jack can be absolutely brutal when he needs to extract information from an enemy. Not even allies are safe when Jack gets in trouble for not doing things by-the-book. At times it's overkill. But his intentions are always for the good of the country and the people he cares about.

  8. I wrote lyrics with a vague idea of what the melody might sound like, but they weren't very good. I still do on occasion but nothing will ever become of them unless I commit to learning an instrument like guitar or piano/keyboard that's ideal for songwriting.

  9. First thing that comes up is some guy on LinkedIn who works for Spirit Halloween. None of the other results are me. I have looked myself up on some of those people search websites and it wasn't too difficult to find myself after specifying my home town/state. The info that's available for free is already a little creepy but you can pay them to dig deeper in public records and find all sorts of personal info.

  10. Wide awake. And I really shouldn't be. It's a consequence of getting scheduled for a night shift (because all new hires at my job are required to work one as part of their orientation process) and then having to work a daytime shift with only a day to recuperate. And I never once worked a night shift before last night :lostit:
