      Okay, so basically, Layol has a weakness - the power of his own darkness, ironically. But the risky part comes in when somepony ELSE must harness it to defeat him. In other words, Loyal had to let darkness consume him in order to give him a chance to defeat Layol. but Loyal was too afraid to let that happen, and never let the darkness consume him until now. Which means, if he goes into battle against Layol, he might win, the darkness will vanish forever, and everypony can stop being evil and be friends again.
