I... I didn't realize John Hurt had died.

 Sure, I've only just now done some research into him & I only know him from one role but...

  He was the Voice of the Dragon. The tutor to Merlin. I know not what they did for Benedict Cumberbatch when he played Smaug, but you didn't need to add anything to Mr. Hurt. His was a voice that made you stand up & pay attention. A voice that told of ages past, of the natural order of things, of a life having lived so long that it no longer cares for such things a personal gain or harming others so long as the world is left a better place.

  John Hurt had the soul of an actor inscribed into his bones. From his face to his voice to his words, you could tell it was fun for him, but far beyond just playing pretend. That he wanted to tell a story, take you on an adventure, give you an experience you like as not would never had the luck to go on yourself. Genuine & loving, but still terrifying in the strength one gets from a long & difficult life.

  He was probably the only actor I've ever had respect for. Kind of wish I had had him as my father...

  Gosh... hope these tears dry soon...
