So Little Known Fact:
Lapras's original name in Japanese was Laplace.
Which is French for "A place to sit." So... yeah... basically.... Lapras is just named Chair. The Chair Pokemon.
"Hey guys! Let's go out and catch a Chair!"
"Yay! My Chair has reached level 25!"

Move set includes "Creaking" which lowers defense, "Splinter" which lowers special defense, "Chair shot" which involves throwing your lapras or otherwise smacking the hell out kf your opponent with it, and " Comfortable seat," which puts opponents into a deep sleep from which they awaken with a slightly sore back.
Clearly the most devastating pokemon in the world next to magikarp.

Think it was... German maybe? That was something more akin to "Lachlass" sounding very much like a female Loch Ness monster. Lapras is really quite pretty, especially among the ice types... but now that I think about it... yeah, they're very Chair-Shaped. The "Ferry Pokemon" after all!
Oh, and let us not forget... likely one of my favorite Ground-Types, Sandshrew's original Japanese name waaas...!
Sand.
Just sand. It's Sand. The English word for Sand. Not even translated into japanese... Just Sand.
Can you tell Game Freak had maybe three months tops to crank out two games?
Yes, It's always had the move Sand Attack. Which, when you think about it, should be all of its attacks.
Trainer: "Go! Sandy the Sand! Use Sand Tomb!"
*Sandshrew waddles endearingly up to the opposing pokemon with its arms wide open. Gives them a big, pudgy hug*
"Saaaand!"
