I have a very important decision I have to make soon. One I'm not very proud of the direction I'm heading in.
The new Galar Pokémon starters.
It's always been about the emotional connection with me for my first pokemon of the games. That's why I've only ever had one Fire starter! I can't relate to that energetic, ambitious, competitive vibe that I get off of SportBoi Scorbunny in spite of the fact that I do like bunnies.
As much as I do love reptiles, I can't very well pick SadBoi Sobble either because I don't wanna play into the sadsack mentality I'm trying to avoid.
…. and the third option is actually growing on me. And I'm not okay with this.
There's something Chill & natural about Grookey. Like it knows its not gonna make any trainer's top list and it's happy with what it can get. That's a emotional connection I can grow to love. And it's about time I got back to my roots of my grass starter streak.
…
I'm developing feelings for a F**cking Monkey!!! Urgh! *shudder*

@SolarFlare13 Oh, they've exhausted everything they could do with Fire/Fighting! Game Freak is aware enough to make a villain team based around a toxic fandom, they're smart enough to not keep pulling the same trick! It's gonna be more outlandish than that! Infernicat or wossnames turned out Dark despite being as Fighter as they come! Or it could just as easily have a vague, tacked on, thematic typing like Greninja & Decidueye before it.
...Honestly, I'm hoping for the prettier "feminine" one.

I just hope the final evolutions of the starters look good and they have potential. Gen 5 EASILY had THE worst line-up of starters. Emboar was too slow and it's defenses were average, Serperior had a VERY shallow moveset (and it needed its hidden ability to be any good in competitive battling), AND Samurott was...meh. To be fair, Chestnaught and Delphox IMO were also pretty 'meh'.
Besides that, I have a feeling Grookey will either evolve into a green 'silver-back' Gorilla or a Baboon. Something tells me it'll evolve into either one of them. As for my favourite A.K.A Sobble? well...that's hard to say. it could either one of the following:
- It could lose it's legs and evolve into some sort of a water serpent
- It would closely resemble the looks of the 'Jesus Christ' Lizard
- It could evolve into a horned Chameleon (which would be kinda boring, but it would make sense)
As for the typing, this is what I think it could be:
Grookey: Grass / Fighting OR Grass / Ground
Scorbunny: Fire / Fighting (this pretty much confirms it. I found this on the official Pokemon Page. It learns a Fighting type move for heavens sake.)

Sobble: Either Water / Poison, Water / Ghost or Water / Dragon

By that same logic, @SolarFlare13, it should also be a normal type. I was gonna say that's on all rabbit pokemon as Bunnelby has it... but Lopunny, the one that actually gains the fighting type when it mega-evolves only learns Jump Kick & HiJump Kick. Kicking moves are a staple of rabbits in this world.
Keckleon! Azumarill, as Water/Fairy learns Superpower naturally and that don't make it a fighting type, eh?
That ain't even stable enough evidence for what its primary stats could be. Cyndaquil learned an oddly high amount of starting physical moves to where I still can't tell what its role in battle is supposed to be! (Could have swore I kept getting cyndaquils with Double Kick... maybe that was just the Dream World.)
Kind of hoping Grookey turns out to be the pretty one. Hoping for something like this:

A rockin’ Fairy Bard!
