  1. Aye, I'm a knee-jerk critic myself. As they say, the term Cynic came up in ancient greek as derived for the word for the roving packs of wild, viscious dogs that roamed the streets sometimes.

Its in the family, most of my family is Extremely Critical. Cynicalness runs in the veins, Like venom.

Been attending the local Writer's Club here and sometimes its tricky. One doesn't want to just say that it simply "doesn't sound right." Because when reviewing somebeing else's work its easy to start saying things like how the goals or actions of characters doesn't really make sense and how you think the character should act when the Writer can just lean back and get that little bug in the bonnet with a rightful "Well, I'm the one that Wrote Them. Think I know what my characters act & think, since they've been that way since I thought them up."

Like, Bro. Sometimes we want to creature characters that really are intended to be fully Asinine! ...that's what i'm working on now. A story where just everyone are jerks. More realistic that way!!

I think the important thing to remember is that when it comes to critique, there's no Right Way. As is most creative endeavors. When you're critiquing (and by the way, have I mentioned I made a Critique Thread?!!?) it's important to keep in mind that you or they aren't asking you to change how you think or anything else about you. Creators can Baby their work and think that its been that way since first generated in their head and that there's no way it can't be perfect as long as it stays TRUE TO MY SPIRIT AND ITS COMPLETELY FLAWLESS! I'M PERFECT!!! NOTICE ME WORLD!!!

     -Cough.-

So maybe I can't take what I dish out.

  2. "Human-like lives."

Now, it can be said that an animal is simple, that it itself likely doesn't know what it wants. Very likely because it has been bred that way.

I think defining what a "cage" is, is important here too. I've gone through more dogs than is really healthy. Take, for example, what happens if the owners of a dog lead busy lives, and the only time they get at home is them being too tired to take their dog for a walk. Then that dog may have the full run of the house, or of the yard, but that's all they have, an empty house and one other being to notice them, if that. The same yard their entire lives, no other dogs to socialize with, no new sights or experiences because they cannot control what & where their lives be.

I've had some big dogs that would sure love to have a full acre of a yard to sprint around in, bark at passing birds & critters, sniff the ever-changing ecosystem around them... but I know them well enough that they would quite literally run until they break their legs underneath them.

Like raising a child, it is a sliding scale. I see many parents who really do look like they only had children because it was socially expected of them. You provide for your dependent lives best you can, but one cannot just give away a loved pet or child just because you lack the time to be with them or the funds to take them on frequent adventures.

...I loved my dogs. With every fiber of my being. And I wished I could only do more for them. ...but you do what you can; that's the sad part of it.

  3. It can be argued, whilst a form of Water, Ice has enough access to a myriad of properties to denote it as a somewhat subset of Elemental forces. In mine own machinations, I see water vapor, namely cloudform, as a sort of marriage of Water & Wind elements. Bit of both, as we could say.

I... drink, like, three times more than any human around me... doesn't... seem to be helping... the crabbiness!

Ironically, I do happen to be Cancer. ...the astrological sign. Also the other thing.

Incidentally, I hear Space has alot of not much of most. Void does count as a Fifth Element, after all. Light being a second, I suppose, though that can blend into fire all too easily. Electricity, Plasma, and really, one could imply that Inspiration & the mental facilities of the Mortal Psyche are attributed to the Fire Element as well. That sort of "Inner Fire" if you will.

I wouldn't snowbank on your frosted laurels just yet. Your distractions cannot dampen my own veritable mental fog of precipitous philosophical meanderings.

  4. "I don't wanna argue about something every five minutes."

Bam! I'm outta da runnin' from right outta the startin' gates! I breathe argument! I was born into it, can have a lengthy discussion over things I cannot even begin to comprehend, but I'm not all that a combative sort. I suppose.

To be Fair, think ya pretty much just listed anybeing that'd be online. Feels like ya might not've been as specific as ya thought you were.

Like, who doesn't like some form of cartoon or video game? Anyone that'd pick up into a relationship would have to be already open to accepting the hobbies & interests of another. That's what I always say. It starts at Friendship first.

... Huh. Considering my track record of Waifus... think I might actually be attracted to those Humorless. Because... well... *cough*, that does tend to be the Goth Chicks & mayaderes, lol!

But don't fret too much over it. S'all shots in the dark. Just put yourself out there & keep trying! That's the important part!

#*$&@! They actually have an 8 point IQ lead on me! Where's that IQ test again?!!?

  5. @Randimaxis  Oh, aye. That's the best thing about Hope, I'd say. Is that it doesn't leave you, it's up to you to allow yourself to see it.

There is a little bit of a continuation with Popi, my Primarina, but she doesn't quite entirely tie into the lesson. Took me long enough to care about a Starter Pokemon, but Spark really is a posh class act of a foxyboy!

  6. Unless, of course, I was trying to say things deliberately, intentionally sans-sane to drive the point that I ought not be taken seriously, and by process of elaboration, therefore ought nothing else in life be taken seriously.

Then, in that case your implications also still insults me. Yes, You can't win for losing with me. My author is a massive Tsundere.

Just don't slap your hulking hairy hands together as forcefully. It's not hard. Just ask Fluttershy.

*narrow eyes*  How did you know about my hand collection?!!?

  7. @Duality Well, is not comedy built upon the premise of learning to cope with the harshness, nay tragedy, of a typical life? How can one live without first learning to mock yourself?

You do bandy about the term of Sane as if it were comparative. Where is the fooling? What is wrong with emotional investment in one's characters they art built? Really now, Duality, tsk on you for putting sanity on a pedestal.  You really ought try being more fluid.

Yay. That works on so many different inclinations! Only half of which are creepy!

...wait, how do you quietly applause?

  8. Gosh. This Widdershins fellow sure seems like an absolute Joy & a total Card. I just don't know who to vote for.

You bet it is, boopy. Though, perhaps we can say that being crazy is a way of life. You can only ever be you, faults & quirks be as they may. Sure, perhaps you can tailor how you act around some if you gotta keep other boopies around, but you work with what you got. You're gonna clash, you're going to not live up to other's viewpoints quite often, but that's all of you that you're giving out all of the time. If they don't like that, they better back away from the campfire, eh what? Folly on the one who curses the flame for their scorching, Poo on you if you think I'm weird for asking a hug of you!

Life is for the Living. If you stop being you, you're only limiting your life, aren't you?

Think I might have actually eaten anti-freeze at some point... feel like I had to have by now... which kind of explains alot...

  9. @Lunar Echo Beugh. The Heros I could never gain a taste for. Ironically, think I have a somewhat decent Destiny Hero deck. Mechs I tend to stay away from since they always look like they could catch a limb right off of you but I do have a soft spot for cogwork! Hah! Toon Cyber Dragon! I never even knew there was support for that typing! I've only ever seen maybe three toons before!

Do have me a good number of Wind-up & a preset Geargia! Oh, and Gladiator Beast! Need to look up the rulings on those. Pretty much anything with a janky gimmick to it, usually a flip effect! ...and ritual... gotta see what I can do with a Lycanthrope/Chu'Chulaiin combo!

...and... also play the game at some point.

  10.   Ooh! It's about friendship!??! It helps creativity?! Well, i'm sold! Those are both important things to me! I do worry about it becoming to heavily dependant on drops or constant fighting, because that's why I stopped playing Warcraft. I just seemed to get in a rut of constantly getting the next meaningless reward just so I could fight better to get more gear.

...Lantern Monster?  Huh... I have an OC species about that...

Do like how the names of places are only tangentially related to MLP. So if Hasbro ever tosses a fit the game devolopers can always just shrug and go "Well... it's pony related." Tartarus though, seems a little too close. An' kinda dumb... seems like it'd be easier to just boot players if it came to that, rather than just having them log in to an immovable character in a cage.

Boss fights... those i'm interested in! I've often thought of my OCs like minibosses for a video game, if I could only remember now what that thread here about that was...

  11.  I could likely come up with a few smarmy things to say about all the piercings & tribal-esque tattoos coming from somebeing that goes by the name Rebel, buuuut... the nose ring really does work exceedingly well. Kind of amazed I don't see more nose rings in ponies! If anything, the Star-Eye is a bit much, but that is a style thing so that's something I won't harp on!

What's absolutely incredible though... is that mane! I reeally like your mane! Syoo fwuffy! There's always that aspiring-artist style that lends itself amazingly to incredibly fluffy & detailed hair like that! They usually say that mane & tail should match, but you look far better with the majority all up front like that! Love it!

Eee! Just noticed the widdle chest fluff too!

  12. @Prospekt Oh, it's quite the big to-do & hullaballoo, no doubt! But I am quite glad that I got to go! Feel I fared loads better in that huge crowd than I have in any other prior circumstances!   ...Well, had more than my fill & hightailed it out of there when the guys in the giant "Studio Gibli" Noh mask/ink phantom costume and that other one that was a rather convincing... well, that terrycloth towl alien muppet that goes Meep. As I was pulling out, there was a guy in a very accurate Joker costume, from Suicide Squad that... made me very glad to leave. There's some clowns you don't question the whole clownphobia thing about...

@CuriUndersXeno   Gosh, still don't think I understand what a "Panel" is other than a "show up, someone talks" thing. They were all, like, three hours apart from each other anyhow, so I wasn't going to bloody well just wait around for all of them!

  13.   @Duality  A follow-up? Like how? Like, dating time itself? Heh...

You know, try as I might, I can't seem to find any personification of time as anything other than the New Year's OldGuy with the long white beard. That strikes me as more wizard than time.    Hmm... what do you all think time would look like? Kinda think of her as one of those people who its too vague to tell age or even gender with. The sort to look more like just themself than anyone else.

  14.   Well, not anymore bossy than Rarity or Rainbow! heh-heh~    Do worry about the status she has as...uh, the poster girl for the series. If anything, I would think that'd be Crom! Lol!

Aye, Blaze was my sister's dog that I was watching around then. Poor dog blew his leg out. I... I mean literally... he literally blew his leg off... She had a small family of four large dogs that were all about the same age. So, as she said, it was kind of expected for them to all head downhill at the same time. Four large dogs failing on you within the span of two years when you already have a pretty major connection to dogs to begin with... kind of... wears ya down...

  15.    The trouble is, any of those qualities by themselves kind of almost makes it hard to imagine them even counting as a pony.

Sure, I have OCs with color-changing capabilities or multiple limbs/heads, but that alone isn't the defining characteristic. If I just said it was big with alotta heads, it wouldn't give you too much to work on for a mental image.

I guess I'm saying... is you need some sort of a framework to build on.

...wouldn't a centaur with the human part replaced by a horse only be a horse?

  16.    Well, you are right about that. I've just always thought of it sorta the opposite way. You know all those godly pantheons?  How some of the oldest religions that have since been relegated to just myths and ways to theme things after? They had a god or goddess for nearly everything. Like how the sun got eaten by some wolf, or explained away why everything seemed to die in winter by saying the Harvest Lady got kidnapped by Mr.Death. Seemed more like myth was a way to explain things you couldn't control. Made ourselves more accepting of it by saying some Big Guy was doing it because of some grudge with other Big Guys & we, the pitiful mortals caught in the crossfire just had to weather it out. 'Course, that's sort of like rationalizing it & living vicariously through those gods, especially when we humanize them by making them constantly cheating on their wives & whatnot.
