  1. The banner reminds me... Did we, ah, ever get an update on Big Macintosh's relationship with Cherilee? Because he... kind of just started publicly devoting himself to another mare they centered whole episodes around...

Cherilee kinda just seemed to... disappear.

      SMT? Some Magic Tingles?

They had a SMT happen to them? A SMT had occurred?

Like, they were still dating at the end of it and it surely wasn't that one episode, right? Cherilee did show up again, right?

… I'm not saying I'm backing this horse ship more than Sugar Belle but...

      SMT is short for "something"
and no, they were just pranking the CMC that they were still under the potion's effect, they even winked, though i guess you could make it work if you really wanted to

Think they were dating at the time and intended to keep doing so, they just weren’t at the level the kids wanted. Think that was the lesson of the episode? Don’t try to force others into your ideal by meddling. That you can’t OTP IRL, Lol :P

  4. So let me run a few names by you for my new Kirin OC. Haven’t got much for character yet but I’ll be playing into their little emotional “Flare-Ups!”

So here goes! Let me know what you think!

Also 'Weathervane' is the proper British English name for the little roof thingy that swings with the wind, which may be necessary to suitably internet-proof the name. :kirin:

I dunno, it came up in the thesasaurus for being ambivalent. Weathercock just sounds more punchy, you know? A bit better sounding for an abrupt sounding of the name. Y'know, like Poppycock, Weathercock just has this thread to it that just somehow lends itself to humor.

  5. Yes. They're currently implanted into my eyeballs. I am nnnnot even kidding! Hows that to start a post?!!? My eyesight was horrible for the longest time before the surgery and I really had gotten used to wearing glasses. They felt like a part of my identity, yo! ...but this way, I don't keep wearing holes into my nose with the things and I can feel the rain splatter me in the face joyfully instead of panicing how it'll spot my glasses.
  6. Ooh... geez, things get out of whack and unhealthy when I stay up too late...

  7. Aw man! I miss 90s Cartoon theme songs! Yugioh GX, Sonic X... i'll have to find that MegamanX cartoon...

Yu-Gi-Oh! GX wasn't 90s the original was! GX premiered in 2004. And Sonic X was 2003.  And Megaman X didn't have its own cartoon it had a crossover withe Ruby Spears Megaman cartoon.

@ggg-2 Oh! Guess it still has that 90s spirit of an overconfident, sassy hero that’s balanced out by more calm backup characters. That kinda hero that revels in being a hero to the point of being a danger and needs to be reminded to be humble. Like Rainbow Dash! Yeh! Radical!

Really does sound like a 4Kidz dub!

  8. So, Sir Snowflake, I hath a task for thee, one I feel most befitting.

I feel, somehow, that I have heard of a naturally occurring state of something completely reversing its state to be antithetical to what it once was. Be it your earlier case of ice bursting into flame without outside help (I feel there are other cases of that, perhaps a non-water chemical that freezes to look like ice but can burst straight into fire) or the tales I swear I have heard of a moss or mushroom that produces fire out in deep forest... I can't help but think of this concept on the edge of my reasoning.

That is a thing popular in quantum mechanics, yes? Photons, I think? Atoms fully reversing charge to equally opposite of what they once were?

There's a... concept here on the tip of my brain I can't quite remember. You know what I mean? A case of non-manmade, Natural Duality.

    1. Duality

      Duality

I haven't heard of plants that induce fire in themselves, but I'm sure there are plenty of chemicals that freeze to look like ice but are also flammable (although, not involving ice, there's no real antithesis involved there). Photons don't have charge and neither photons nor atoms have a property that 'flips' in an antithetical way as far as I'm aware, although other particles can flip charge fairly readily if you choose the right ones in the right conditions. If two photons collide you get a positron and an electron (positive and negative charge, respectively) and vice versa, if that's what you have in mind. Other than that, I'm not sure if there are any other examples of this sort of invert-dualism process, nor what the base concept involved might be called.

    2. Widdershins

      Widdershins

I do seem to recall.... somewhere, it being said that lightining doesn't strike the ground. That the electron charges in the ion heavy atmosphere reverse charges, weaken some room for more electrons to be affected and kinda sorta wedge downward, then back up to the cloud and filling up this space with the light energy as it wedges itself further downward till it hits ground and disperses. That the Lightining functionally ping-pongs between cloud and ground several million times all faster than the mortal eye can follow and we just see it as one flash with supposed defineable zigzag pattern.

I feel that process would have a name. Induction? Would help if I could remember what an Ion was.

Seem to recall a mushroom you could snap off a tree, light and use like a torch.

See, this is the trouble with thinking several dozen simultaneous thoughts. They stir together sometimes.

       Pancakes.

    3. Duality

      Duality

Lightning is still somewhat ill-understood in several aspects, but the essence of it is that positive and negative ions (ions = atoms that have lost or gained a few electrons so they have an overall charge) in a thunderstorm separate, with positive ions going up and negative ions moving closer to the bottom of the storm. The buildup of negative charge at the bottom of the storm (coupled with the fact that the earth is usually positively charged overall) causes a flow of negative ions to emerge from the bottom of the storm and move towards the ground. This initial current is not as easily visible - the bit that's all flash and bang is when the flow of charge from the cloud touches the ground to form an electrical path, allowing the ground's positive charge to move back up the path and discharge positive ions into the cloud at the same time as the cloud discharges negative ions into the ground. It only ping-pongs once, but that once is plenty more than enough for it to fry anything in its way.

Oh, yes, there are plenty of flammable mushrooms. They feed on decay byproducts, which usually include methane gas and other such easily ignited substances. They're also quite nice toasted if you find any edible ones.

I would advise thinking several dozen simultaneous minds to think those thoughts individually, but you already seem to be doing that with all your OCs. :P

  9. Argh! I'm at such a Creative Crossroads! It's amazing how many pieces connect together with the introduction of the Kirin species!

The primary point of five of my 'sonas and primary representary characters combine so well for this species! The contrary grumpiness of Temper Tempest, the natural, wild magics I was aiming for in Time Corona & Glass Cannon, Erroar and even Ambisinister's being at odds with their species' nature and forming their own identity PLUS the form change aspect I adore! I can incorporate scales into the design and not to mention my IRL mane looks excactly LIKE  a Kirin's! Being able to fit into that niche of being mythological but not-as-badass as a dragon AND essentially a free card to play into just being Moody as all get-out!

There's just... so much room here to make a cohesive Kirin-sona for myself with no downsides!

     Foom!

Except the fact that its pretty much jamming together YEARS of creativity! Whole WORLDS themed around characters collapsing into one! It's almost a waste!

    Foom! Art Angst!

Ahooeyzotl as a stallion. He’s quite handsome. Hadn’t pictured that!

Perhaps its the eyes-on-end-of-snoot that’s always thrown me!

  11. Hopper gave no second thought to anything suspicious. He grew up on a stump farm, having anything worth stealing meant you didn't use it till it broke. And because he grew up so far in the country... He turned slowly to watch her go. He blinked at her hasty retreat. Well, he thought to himself. That was probably the nicest he'd been treated, by a mare nonetheless. The only other pony he'd met here pretty much just told him to start work, and she hadn't used overly descriptive terms to describe him as a 'bump onna log' or a 'sin against nature' like his father used to greet him with. She had said it was a Good Job and it was Good to be around him. … he felt funny about her and not in a way he knew how to react to. Plus, well, she had said to do what he wanted. Being fired didn't mean anything to him as that then must have meant the debt was settled then. She was a nice mare. He wanted to see about helping her more. Maybe she'd say he was Good more. ...besides, nothin' else to do now. With a very audible "Huh." Clod Hopper slowly moseyed after her with a stride far outreaching hers to follow this "Dewdrop." Perhaps he'd meet somepony along the way to loudly tell about this mare that just ran out of a broken-in shed with a bundle of official mine supplies and if not, he'd probably meet up with her sooner than expected. He wasn't in a rush, but good old fashioned country single-mindedness got you far and fast sometimes.
  12. Oh, and wanted to say too, your butler pony @Randimaxis? Is perhaps his full name.... *drumroll* Beckam Call?
  13. Just watched The Sounds of Silence!

    *Bursts into flame* Foom!

Kinda an awkward title, considering. Like, I don't like Autumn Blaze. She's way too expressive to the point it gets annoying with all the meta references.

And those other Kirins just being so flat, overly critical to the point of coming off rude, like they were actively ignoring others' attempts to communicate. Hardly realistic!

     Foom!

There's GOT to be a MIDDLE POINT between these EXTREMES! How could anybeing relate to subduing part of their personality like that over forced habit of environment and how they were raised and- Argh!

Foom! Argh! Foom! So emotional! Foom! I so totally don't relate to this species at all!!! Foom!

So totally not planning a Kirin/niriK OC at all! Argh!

  14. Do suppose there's no harm in being overly descriptive. I do done reckon I done lost a smidgen o' respect with me character. Hope ah done appease thet wit' a right quick response! Hee!
  15. "Whelp, alrighty Missy. Iffen yeh'll pardon me here..." Clod Hopper would quietly shoulder past the mare to the door... where he then turned around to face her a scant few inches from her face to direct his back legs square to the door. Without a pause to flinch or avert eye contact from her, as this was the quickest, most direct response and usual for him, he let go with a buck quick as a wink. A loud POW resounded in the area as his powerful back legs hit the door. As splinters of the now reduced to sawdust door showered down, its doorknob now having flown into oblivion, Clod bowed his head to her in a manner that would cause one to suspect he'd be holding his hat to his chest right now if he had one. "Reckon ah done furgit iffen I intro-duced mahsef. Name be Hopper. ...Clod Hopper. ...yew kin jist call me Hopper." Clod began absently swatting door shards off his jittering flank with his tail as a country pony did get awfully used to debris on them.
  16. So, for @Pastel-chan & @Blitz Boom's parts: I'll come in much later. There's not much I can do until the both of you get into the Everfree. I'm sure the older Slimpsy will be such a good impression to these foals! … I'm being facetious. (That's our Secret Word for the day! We just looked it up again!) As much as a total coward Slimpsy is, it'll take two foals to re-re-retell him what he doesn't have to fear. Oh, and Blitz? Think I worry we might've lost @Pinkfire by this point. Should we carry on Flit's leg of things and keep it open enough for her to wander back in to? It kind of was my ideal to get several posters in to all witness the same event To witness our clever writing, that is?! Nyo, shaddup! - to provide a wider array of responses what basically amounts to a boss encounter. And, as further to that; I feel I have to apologize for several things with the Cephalli family members to you and @Sekel. Yellow text doesn't show up quite as well, and I wish all the good luck to Dji in wading through the dense Scottish accent But these are things I cannot change. All integral to the character! Lol! Unless there's somehow another yellow text option... but I got a way in my head for how the brothers sound. Like SS is Scots to Flit's Irish accent since I see that as a duality somehow.
  17. @Catpone Cerberus Oh, I just fail to see how they could pose a threat to Ponyville like you said! Widdershins said facetiously. What do you mean, F- the draconequus clears his throat then floats effortlessly towards Cerberus to bob around his head playfully. You got a lead then, on where the parasprites may be? They made a sorta weather station to keep track of something like flying snack cakes since I've been gone, huh? --___-__--_-_--__-_--___-_-_--_-_---__-_--_-_---_--_--_--_-_-_ @Blitz Boom "Oh, uh, Magistrate in reference to your ascribed title, Madam." Blither blinked in comprehension for a moment. "...Wait, Mayor is your first name as well as your job title?! Heh, you must forgive me, Pony practices still catch me off guard sometimes! Heh, that's sort of the problem there. It's... not so much of an Attack. There's no ill intent, I assure you! We were just raised... well, in the Wilds. The Cephalli family isn't quite used to getting along in organized, rational society. I mean, well... for example. We got along for a good while in Kludge Town and I'm sure you know its, ah, reputation for being a wretched hive of scum & villainy. My family is just more inclinded to react to things.... well, like wild animals sometimes. I do beg your pardon for such societal fopahs!" As if to demonstrate their disconnect from pony culture, the small blue stallion turns to Long Stare polietely. "Oh! Oh, I'm so sorry to take from you what food you had fought to find! I thank you dearly for your offering!" And gratefully, he took it from her proffered hoof... in the accidental habit of their species. Rather than reaching out for it as a pony would with limbs or horn magic, the Cephalli family had little experience with using else but their mouths. Stepping up to Stare, Blither bent his head down as if to bow and instead worked his mouth fully around the granola bar up to nearly kissing the mare's hoof with his lips, craned his head upwards and swallowed the bar whole down his outstretched neck in one fluid movement without pause. Not only was this decidedly unponylike behavior but quite clearly snake-like from repeated practice. Unaware of any difference, Blither stepped back again to smile and gratefully reiterate his thanks to Long Stare. "*Ulp*" , Thank you, Madam. You shouldn't worry. It oughten't take much to meet the required nourishment levels! I shouldn't ask much of ponies!" &&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&& "But hugs is comfortin'! If you was to hurt someone wit' one, you just hug 'em and then they'd feel aaaaaall Better!" Clearly, new ideas were not one to get across into Sunny's head, as steadfast as she was in her beliefs. For that matter, her definitions of certain concepts needed to be treated with a sliding scale of rational to much more vague, "laypony" terms as upper crust unicorns used to describe the more working class farmponies. More down-to-earth in the sense of "lower social elevation" as the elite would "politely" refer to it as. "Oh! Blither's the cute blue one! He's smart so he knows where to go! Where'ver that is now!" Sunny began in that gossipy way all little sisters had a habit of doing. "Not as smart as Monolith though! He is A Much Smart! He's e'en bigger! You'll sure know him when you see him! He can be all big n' spooky n' cute n' serious n' stuff! Shortstack's the cute little one that's always big in fer a fight! He's like a lil' plushie pone! He's so cute! Flit's the green one and he's super fast and good at flying and finds cute things as cute as I do! Oh! There's Slimpsy! He might be even faster except he isn't because we gotta drag him all over the place because he doesn't find things cute and keeps goin' on about how stuff'll kill us all but we, like, haven't actually died yet so I don' know what up with his head! Oh! and of course ME! I'm even MORE super cute too! I'm probably the cutest one, huh huh?!!?" Scarcity should likely know when to take things with the proverbial grain of salt, considering how often Sunny somehow found a way to refer to everything as cute, no matter the context. Whether this made her easier or harder to deal with would vary wildly with the situation... and patience of the pony she was with. Accuracy in words took a backseat to how you felt about what you were saying, which sometimes made it harder to be around the Party Pony Personality one came across so often in Equestria. Like a huge Pinkie Pie, she was and that was scary depending on your view of things. ***************************************************************************************** @Sekel "Me NAM-E? Yee blooterin' CHUFF!" The little red stallion that couldn't take much sass rose his head back up, showering rubble from his head as he spun around to take a wide stance at Dazzle in what was decidedly an aggressive expression. "Lake yew gawt ah use for it ot'erin' draggin' et tru da mud!" He sputtered in a voice buried in spittle, accent and too many rolling R's. "Et's ShortSTACK! STACK! One Word! Lake I'd tell you jist so you can use it against me! Like tha Wee Glowbug tinks she kin pick a fight wit' tha likes o' me! Thinks she's bigger'n me! I ain't no less than yew, yeh wee INSECT! ANTS like yew get STEPPED ON!" *Meanwhile!* ...I just really like saying "Meanwhile." Sekel's Dawn Streak: Kaltrop rose his head in a very catlike, smug judging position from where he rested. It was ironic how many traits cats and dragons seemed to share that provided so many snide comments against a much larger species over the years. "We dragons have a much different metabolism from you ponies who just lay around on pillows and suck in cupcakes all day. We reserve our power for magic and hunting instead of bursting into random songs about how we Feel. I can't imagine how you can feel comfortable on squishy surfaces like this. Like the floor was going to give out under you. Nothing says home to a dragon like having a rock nudge into your spine all night. It strengthens the wing muscles. You'll have to pardon me, pony, if I don't leap up first thing in the morning to skip merrily around your house to use my Proud Wings to dust your furniture."
  18. OMC. I just got that.

Kludge: an ill-assorted collection of parts assembled to fulfill a particular purpose.

And in the movie, Kludge Town was a port assembled from widely various species and races to gain profit & a living in any way they could.
