I have always found something perplexing. I find it really annoying that a lot of people type in all lower case on the internet. It isn’t difficult to use capitals. It amazes me that we have all this technology yet people still act illiterate.

You also have to think about all the scammers on the Internet. The easiest way to detect them is through sloppy grammar and lazy typing. I simply try to distinguish myself from them, and typing correct English is a way to do that.
And while I type in my own language (Swedish), I simply use correct grammar and upper/lowercase because, I find it very respectful. But I don't try to be too formal.

If it's not formal, I don't care, especially in chats, that are supposed to be for quick communication. Sometimes I write like this myself when I'm on phone, because I'm not really a fan of virtual keyboards and there that shift key requires an extra actual tap, as opposed to just holding it while typing the letter. Most of the time it happens with the letter "i", for example in "i don't know". While the autocorrect automatically capitalizes "I'm", it doesn't correct single letters. That said, the autocorrect pretty much capitalizes everything I type on phone, otherwise I probably would be writing in small bois only too, as typing on virtual keyboards is already a hassle for me. Again, I don't pay too much attention in chats, because these tend to go quick and there's no always time for perfect grammar, otherwise I try to type correctly. Also, sometimes it somewhat depends on context, it's often used for comedy purposes, such as memes.
Regarding abbreviations, is typing "MLP" considered being lazy? 👀 Yes it is a more formal abbreviation, so to speak, but it still is what it is, can't people just type "My Little Pony"? It's not that hard. And why can't they type "Role-playing" instead of "RP"? I get the point though, but for me it depends on amount of these used in a sentence and the context of these. Occasionally using "idk" is what I do myself if it's informal, but I admit sentences full of these are a bit annoying to decipher. It's hard to blame people though, even to this day mobile messages have a very limited amount of characters and one Is paying more for surpassing that limit. Nowadays it's not that bad, but back then it did cost a bit.
Speaking of grammar, you know what? We get even formal mobile messages with poor grammar, because using these special polish characters dramatically lowers the character limit, so with these you'll have to pay about 4-5 times more than for the same message without these, so companies butcher the grammar on purpose for that reason. Writing without polish characters is also somewhat annoying tbh, but yeah... Either the cost, or perhaps the in-game chat font doesn't support polish characters and even if not these-- there's simply more effort to put, because that introduces another key to the game - in addition to shift for capitalization, there's right alt for polish characters. It's common to see people typing without polish characters because of that, but welp.
