20 years ago, on this date the most notable terrorist act in modern day history occurred. Terrorists from Al-Qaeda hijacked two American airlines and flew them into the World Trade Center buildings in the early morning hours. The Pentagon was also hit by an airline and damaged on one of its sides. Another airplane was downed in Shanksville Pennslyvania, missing its intended target of Washington D.C. The passengers of that airplane prevented it from reaching its intended target.
Thousands of innocent people died. May we never forget the lives lost in this tragedy, nor forget the heroes that were forged during and after the event. Whether it be an "inside job" or not, people died. Lives were lost, and the nation was traumatized. This event forever changed the character of American history, and of the world. One single date is all it took to change the world and shatter normality like glass.
May we never find ourselves trapped within the walls of normality again and find them shattered. We must always hope for the best and prepare for the worst. An event like this may happen again, and we should all be prepared to handle it should the worse come to pass.
Walk each day, appreciate every moment you have with those close and seek healing with those you consider your enemy. You never know when that fateful day could happen. It could be tomorrow, it could be years from now, we don't know. Far too many in this world put faith in their wealth. Money can be burned alongside charcoal - but the memories one has can not.
As for the people who have committed this atrocity and others like it they have made their choices, and it would do us all good to learn from the decisions history's monsters have made and to not repeat. We must always remember humanity's sins, so that we can all be virtuous. Do the right thing because it feels right. Don't do it because society or some external power structure tells you to.The world has changed, and it will change. There is no going back. Once events change, people change, there is no going back to once was. While it may be a dark world in current times it is up to us to see it through, it is up to us to make a better future for all of us. We can only carry on in our individual ways, and hope our actions can be part of a greater change that all can embrace.
There's always a light shining in the darkness, but often, the light of the mind can't cast away the entirety of the darkness, and that's when we need to remember that we're not alone.
Let us remember this day for all times, and let us pass on the tales of this tragedy for all time, so that those who come after can remember what happened on this date.

Never forget. Too many innocent lives lost that day. Two iconic buildings there one minute, gone the next. The most distressing thing is seeing the people jump out of the windows. The world was never that carefree again.
I just want to say that all the people who believe those ridiculous 'controlled demolition' theories are all absolute scum. Not only is it incredibly disrespectful but you look at any actual controlled demolition and you can clearly see the difference. I've seen every bit of footage from that day and on some on them, I can hear creaking coming from the tower and see the floors start to fold in on themselves because of how weak they had become from the fuel, not to mention the weight from the top half above the crash zone put unimaginable strain on it. That's why the South Tower fell first because the impact zone was lower down and therefore, under more stress. How would one get bombs into two high security buildings without any of the thousands of innocent people who worked there knowing?
I just had to get that off my chest because I think it's so disrespectful and impossible to think that that was a controlled demolition. It wasn't. The buildings fell because of structural failure and weakening.
