  1. Movie Review: Bird Box

So I'm here with another movie review. I know I've done one yesterday but my original plan was to watch Bird Box but The Meg got in the way of that. So I watched it tonight instead.

So the plot of Bird Box if simple. The world has gone extinct from something that will cause you to commit suicide if you see it. So the remaining people left in the world don't go outside but when they do, they wear blind folds. Three surivors (a mother (who I like to call female Kratos), and two children) are trying to find a camp that is safe from whatever it is that's killing everyone. The movie switches back and fourth between the first month or so since the chaos started, and the current day that our three heros have traveled for.

There are somethings that I will dock this movie on, but there aren't a lot of things to dock. First off, the first death of the survivors (that we get to know and love) was gay. Now I'm taking that off because there was another character that served NO purpose except to be a complete asshole. And not even a charming asshole like Nick Wild (from Zootopia) was. He was just a blatant asshole there to cause problems for everyone. So he could have EASILY been the one to die first (when you see the movie, this was a scenerio where someone specific was meant to die so the asshole could have died there and the plot wouldn't have been altered in the slightest). Another reason why I'm docking points for that is cause I'm petty AF. Another reason that I'm docking points off is the love interest of the movie. I felt absolutely no chemestry between the two romantic duo (one being our main character from the beginning and the other being one of the survivors). BUT later in the movie another pregnant lady arrives at the house and joins everyone. Since both our main character and the new lady are pregnant, the new lady feels that it would be best to sleep in the same room together. Over time we realize that the new lady is a softy. And that the main character kinda watches out for her. These two characters have a few things in common and with the main character looking out for the softy, I could feel a really strong romantic bond between the two. The actual love interest has NO chemestry with the main character whatsoever. Another thing that I'm docking points on is it felt towards the end of the flashbacks the movie didn't kill enough people so they had 1 crazy person against 3-4 people and they all failed. Except the asshole who got a shot on the person but it was only in the arm, so it didn't do much.

Now whatever negatives I have remaining about the movie are just very small and not even worth bringing up because they don't make sense and are hard to explain without spoiling. Now for some positives. The acting was great. Nothing phonomenal, but nothing to complain about. The cinematography was really nice. Characters had some great personalities to them (even the ones I hate). And it is kind of nice that they didn't have a creature specifically shown in the movies, but one of the survivors that went crazy had drawn what he had seen and we got to see what those looked like, so that was pretty cool.

Enough with the bantering. Let's take a look at the A.P.C. and see how good of a move this is.

    Characters: 100%

    Plot: 75%

    Acting: 80%

    Cinematography: 80%

    Consistency/w plot: 75%

    Interest kept: 80%

Scares: 30% (I won't factor in because the movie didn't want to go the whole scary type of horror. More adventure, than scares).

    TOTAL: 82%

Notes: When I saw the trailer I thought it was gonna be a really good movie. The took out the sense of sight and had to focus more on hearing and mental capability to survive and it worked. A lot like the movie Hush which dealt with a girl who was deaf, the movie took the risk of not having an important surviving factor (in these two movies cases it was having the character(s) not have a sense that you would normally need to survive). And that risk paid off. The movie was fun, nothing amazing like Wonder Woman (2017) or Deadpool, but fun none the less. Definately go check it out if you haven't already.

Hope you guys enjoyed my review. This movie was tough to review without spoiling a lot. If yall didn't like the movie tell me why, if you did, then tell me how much you agree with my ratings. Have a nice day. :derp:
