She hides away at her house now anyway so no guarantees she would even go. I think she last visited a friend back in like 2012. They stopped visiting her or talking to her because of it and she says she’s fine that way.

I don’t have all that many friends myself. But even so

It sounds pretty lonely to me.

That's real sad, man. She's setting herself up for a lonely existence, and she doesn't even know it.

I can't comment too much about it. You have a relationship with her, but it is a crap one that I wouldn't wish on anyone. My father hasn't been part of my life since I was a toddler, maybe a little older. He missed out on a lot, and he wasn't there in times when I needed a dad the most. I refuse to even call him dad now, and I probably won't visit him when he's on his death bed. I can't say which of us has it worse, but I can promise you that I empathize with you, even if I can't do much about it.

Though I do empathize with you as well. Nobody deserves that sort of distance from Their parents, yet a lot of people wind up in such a situation and through no fault of their own. It’s the classic “it’s not you, it’s me”. That doesn’t make it any more right to walk out like that.

But at least those in your life and mine can help. The same goes for anyone in that kind of situation. You can’t replace a parent but you can have a closer bond with someone else instead.
